Looking for quick and honest responses on robot vacuum cleaners

I currently have a vileda which has just bitten the dust and wasn’t very good anyway.

Have seen elsewhere a discussion re robot cleaners, and a link to one of the Eufy ones which is on sale currently.

But before I buy one, I want to know whether it really is worth the money.

I know the appeal of having a robotic vacuum cleaner, but is it really all it’s cracked up to be? Or has anyone ever bought one and ended up stuffing it in a cupboard never again to see the light of day?

I bought this one a month ago following a recommendation from a friend - and I love it!

I have this one, absolutely love it.
It goes off every night via a timer on the app. Constantly amazed at the fluff and dirt it picks up every night( I have teen boys and a Labrador!)
When I can be arsed I take it up to one of the other floors and let it loose during the day when no ones home.
One of my best purchases ever.

I got a Eufy and it has been, in a small way, genuinely life changing Grin. And that’s not hyperbole.

It does downstairs once per day and copes really well with everything. We are a relatively lazy family as a whole (well, to be fair we’re mostly busy) but I just love knowing the floor is clean all the time.

It manages much better, and gets much better results, than I expected.

It has really taken the edge off the housework and makes it much more likely that I will also do a quick dust so everything is nice.

We’re going to get another for upstairs.

There are referral codes for £40 off if you look on the Christmas board. I also got £35 cashback on mine through TopCashback.

@ TickleMyPickle that’s the one I’ve been looking at.

How thin is it?

Love mine so much I got one for my elderly DF he loves it as much as I do ❤️. Easy to use definitely not something you just buy and stick in a cupboard- I recommend them 👍🏻

I bought one second-hand from Ebay many years ago. It was before I had bought my first home with DH, so at least 6 years ago. It was very good and picked up a lot. Although, I don't think it replaces a handheld hoover (as the stairs still need doing), and it would need lugging upstairs and downstairs, which kind of defeats the point that it is supposed to be left to do its thing (and it also remembers the layout of the rooms, so moving it would confuse it). I plan on getting a newer version, as I'm sure they are improved now, but it doesn't replace my Dyson. It is handy if you work a lot, and also it can easily get under the sofa!

TheAnswerIsCake · 06/02/2021 20:15

Ours has revolutionized our cleaning! Vacuuming used to be a chore, so we didn’t do it as often as we now run our Deebot. The Deebot takes longer than a human, but it doesn’t matter as we can just leave it going. We have one which has a mop function, which does a really great job on the kitchen floor. It can also get right under the sofa, the bed and various other bits of furniture which a standard cleaner can’t. It actually lives underneath a sideboard taking up far less room than an upright vacuum cleaner, which took up most of a cupboard. Wouldn’t go back now.

I’ve heard that nothing will cut it other than a roomba. I’ve got a roomba and it's life changing. I never ever want another vacuum ever again. I bought my roomba in 2012 and it's still going strong.

I’ve got a Labrador, so lots of dog hairs, and it's better than my Dyson animal. Honestly, I would never look back. I bought it from Amazon £200 delivered and they still retail at much the same price, nearly a decade later.

I have a Eubay 15 max and its fabulous. I ask Alexa to tell Robbie to start cleaning and off he goes. You have to clean wires and any really big bits eg leaves up first. Id get another on a heart beat.

TickledOnion · 06/02/2021 20:19

I bought a Eufy and returned it after a month. It couldn’t find its way round my not very complicated house layout. It would get stuck in small spaces and miss out the middle of the room. I had to tidy up every little scrap off the floor so it wasn’t much more effort to run a hoover round myself. It took forever to charge and ran out before finishing.
Replaced with a shark and haven’t regretted it.

Cassimin · 06/02/2021 20:19

Eufy 15 here. Love it. Buy one

I have this one too Had it 9 months. One of my best ever purchases and I’d buy it again if it gave up tomorrow.
AlternativePerspective · 06/02/2021 20:23

Mmm. On the verge. I have a lab retriever who sheds everywhere...

Also, I am visually impaired so e.g. sweeping the kitchen floor, while doable can sometimes be more difficult because I can’t see things like crumbs etc. Would be great to have a eufy vacuum it before I mop....

I bought this on a Black Friday deal ECOVACS ROBOTICS N79S Robot... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07F3Q25LJ?ref=ppxpoppmobappshare

It's been a life changer.

Hubby thought I was nuts, but even he loves it! I love the fact it docks back on its charger when it's done!
The cat is terrified of it though 🤣

Soboredofcorona · 06/02/2021 20:24

I got a fairly basic model from amazon - about £100 I think...... it doesn’t map the floor, just moves around randomly, but for ages, so it does a great job.
I use it every day.
With a muddy, dusty spaniel, it’s life changing!

Jumbojem · 06/02/2021 20:27

I got a Eufy too, after reading threads on here. Does downstairs every other day and upstairs twice a week. I love putting him in and getting in with something else. It's made me focus on not having things on the floor, so has helped reduce clutter building up. He fits under some of our chest of drawers, so vacuuming places I would rarely bother too, same for under the kids beds. Yes, he doesn't get everything but generally my floors are much cleaner. He goes over my hall rug fine and moves between hard floors and carpet with no bother.

IamChipmunk · 06/02/2021 20:28

We have a Neato robo vac. Its excellent!

badpuma · 06/02/2021 20:29

Roomba here - it's wonderful.

Jasperjosephjulian · 06/02/2021 20:32

I love ours - bought it when we moved house and had more downstairs area. He runs for an hour each morning downstairs and then when I remember I put him upstairs for a trundle. You wouldn't believe how much he picks up!!
I don't like leaving him on when I'm out as he will undoubtedly find something to get stuck in/on but when we are home it's fabulous to know the vacuuming is being done whilst I do something else.
I love looking around and seeing how clean the place is constantly, without lifting a finger! I just wish he did stairs as well...

Jasperjosephjulian · 06/02/2021 20:32

Oh and it's a Eufy.

HandlebarLadyTash · 06/02/2021 20:33

Eufy g30, one for upstairs, one for downstairs
Hoovers better than I ever did
Love them both

Jasperjosephjulian · 06/02/2021 20:34

Oh and I've got a shedding short hair lurcher

Howshouldibehave · 06/02/2021 20:37

Love our Eufy-had it for a year and still use it regularly.

AlternativePerspective · 06/02/2021 20:38

Ok I’m convinced. Eufy is currently on order and will be arriving Monday.

I bought Eufy after a thread like this. I fully expected to be disappointed, but he's better than I could have imagined. Life changing.
