Here's mine. Not weird but certainly wonderful. The panelled room is my fave.

We've had this, and another thread, brought to our attention as potentially allowing people to identify where Mumsnetters live. Do be wary before giving too much away, and let us know by reporting your own comment if you have had second thoughts about your post.

I love this one

[quote Needallthesleep]Not weird or wonderful, but this is my ideal house and sadly we aren’t in a position at the moment to sell ours. I’m hoping it will still be on the market in a year’s time, but very much doubt it!

If anyone looking owns it then you can hold it for me, right?!

@Needallthesleep my ideal house too! We almost bought it! But the busy road put us off so we are still Looking.

MozzchopsThirty · 04/02/2021 21:06

I really want to post the house my DP has just put an offer on but it might be too outing

welliguessitwouldbenice · 04/02/2021 21:12

Thanks for the warning @EstherMumsnet but I don’t mind being identified as a Waterpudlian! Smile

This is the quirkiest thing I could find locally www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/74279514?utm_campaign=property-details&utm_content=buying&utm_medium=sharing&utm_source=copytoclipboard

It’s quite fitting, my Great, great Grandfather was apparently head coachman to the Duke of Sutherland at the Trentham Estate.

SinkGirl · 04/02/2021 21:38

@lekkerkroketje

Box beds were a thing in Brittany in France right up to the early 20th century. They make sense in small drafty houses, partly because you can stack them like bunk beds. In NL, we've always had more open plan living than in the UK, so somewhere safe to store the baby or for a bit of privacy makes sense. Interesting the Dutch word is bedstede, which if the old meaning of bedstead was the same, suggests they were probably a thing in the UK too.
I’ve wanted something like this my whole life (I blame Santa Claus The Movie) - a boxed in bed is my idea of heaven although not the most practical I guess!
welliguessitwouldbenice · 04/02/2021 22:14

@lekkerkroketje nothing to do with houses but I spent so much time in Holland and surely bereklauw are the lekker-est of all? Grin

lekkerkroketje · 05/02/2021 09:26

welliguessitwouldbenice that's pretty much my dream house. Although I bet the glass atrium roof leaks...

Twospaniels · 05/02/2021 10:28

Not necessarily property porn, but it’s the most expensive for sale within 5 miles

I like this one, although would want a bigger garden

That is really a quirky house. Have you noticed there isnt really a front door? I mean to get to most rooms, you need to cross the courtyard?

I know that it is possible to go round through the rooms, but you have to go through master bedroom to get to utility/laundry room?

It is such an odd layout.
Interesting space to have though

steppemum · 05/02/2021 11:48

@AntonMeyersNo1Fan

wow, that is great.
GrumpyGran8 · 08/02/2021 15:17

I cant work this out! How would you live in it?
It's not a house, its a work-living space for artists and designers. There are individual living spaces tucked away somewhere; the photos only show the working and reception spaces.
The heating bills must be enornous!

MaelyssQ · 08/02/2021 15:38

I got an email from the lottery saying they had good news about my ticket. Excitedly, I went to Rightmove and prepared to put my offer in on this little beauty:

Then I opened the email and saw that I had won 2.74 pence, not 2.74 million pounds

Nice enough but that lawn would take forever to mow.

I'd love to know who lives there, what they do and generally what life they have. It's so far away from my reality, I'm fascinated.

They just seemed to have to think of something for every room. Cant read the floor plan either and I cant work out the layout.

Oh and put the books on shelves FFS!

TheDogsMother · 08/02/2021 17:17

@fairgame84 Absolutely ! This is so far removed from my life and I can't even imagine who would own such a place.

@TheDrsDocMartens Its described as a modern classical mansion so I wonder if its very recent. It has an 'interior designed to suit all tastes' sort of look. Its all a bit bland. So I will save my £30 mill.

thebabessavedme · 08/02/2021 17:27

@TheDogsMother, I think that is a fabulous house, I would love to look round it, the only strange thing I can point out is that is every bedroom the beds are too small, all that floor space and ordinary size beds, they look like a pimple on a pigs bum!

clockstopper · 09/02/2021 04:33

@fairgame84 Gerard Ayrton-Grime's your man.
