Lodger has a ONS in his room

And normally it wouldn’t bother me but he’s already bubbled with his TA at work. I knew something was a miss when I got up at 530 for work and one of the stray cats from out side was asleep on my kitchen chair! Normally he’s so good he lets me know if someone’s staying and he hasn’t had anyone over since this lockdown. Should I say anything I can hear them having a good time or should I just turn the radio up and get ready for work?😃

Oh lord! Of course you should say something! We're in the middle of a pandemic. He's putting your family at unnecessary risk. Besides, I wouldn't want a stranger under my roof.

EachandEveryone · 31/01/2021 06:29

I’ll have to wait until tonight. I’m a nurse maybe he thought because I’ve had the first vaccine I’d be ok with it. And of course he’s now testing twice weekly so has a false sense of security. He already went to his TAs on Friday night so I’m surprised really.

Maybe it is his ta

Orchidflower1 · 31/01/2021 06:39

If he lives with you he is not entitled to bubble. That is applying behaviour from two key workers.

If this is true I’d be having stern words and saying if it happens again he’s out and report.

EachandEveryone · 31/01/2021 06:40

That’s what I thought but she’s Polish and this is a London accent. Plus she has a family.

So the person he has formed an illegal bubble with has a family. It gets worse.

If this is true - Bang on the door and remind them you work for the nhs and it’s a pandemic ffs.

EachandEveryone · 31/01/2021 06:46

Of course it’s true it’s only a small flat. It’s not his TA. He literally sees her twice a week at work and I’m sure they know the rules. It’s actually out of character for him.

MrsTeachers · 31/01/2021 06:47

What's a TA?

Orchidflower1 · 31/01/2021 06:52

If this is true then that is even worse you are knowingly allowing him to break the rules. That is vile considering your role and I assume the lodger is a teacher.

I’d get rid of him and reconsider your morals in this situation.

EachandEveryone · 31/01/2021 06:54

Are you kidding me I literally woke up an hour ago to go to work. And now I am on my way to work. I was in bed at 10 I never heard anyone coming in.

How do you know its a ONS? As a pp has asked, maybe its his TA?

alanpartridgefromtheoasthouse · 31/01/2021 06:58

Come off it, this is hardly OP's fault!

OP, I'd leave them to it for now but talk to him later and say you don't want it happening again. If it's out of character, it probably won't anyway. Is he normally reasonable to deal with?

hauntedvagina · 31/01/2021 07:00

Was really struggling to understand why the Office for National Statistics was in your lodgers room.

EachandEveryone · 31/01/2021 07:01

He is lovely I think like all of us he’s bored he’s hardly at work and at first I thought he was gaming but the stray black cat gave it away!

tigerlily20 · 31/01/2021 07:02

What's TA?

triceratops12 · 31/01/2021 07:04

Teaching assistant I presume?

Amore2 · 31/01/2021 07:04

Agree with @alanpartridgefromtheoasthouse
Can't believe PPs are questioning the OP's morals. Yes, we are in a middle of a pandemic which is even more reason not to lose sight of a bit of logic and human decency. Talk to him later (from 2m!), if he has any sense, it won't happen again...it must be difficult right now if you're not in a relationship as it's almost a year now since pandemic began in UK.

yetmorenamechanging · 31/01/2021 07:04

Teaching Assistant?

EachandEveryone · 31/01/2021 07:07

He did start seeing someone but she went back to Bristol to her parents to work from there. They called it off but maybe she’s just come back, otherwise I don’t know where he could’ve met someone.

HappyintheHills · 31/01/2021 07:13

TA I can’t translate

sandgrown · 31/01/2021 07:13

One night stand?

CormoranStrike · 31/01/2021 07:14

ONS is one night stand

RedRiverShore · 31/01/2021 07:15

Thanks

LolaSmiles · 31/01/2021 07:22

If he only sees his TA (guessing teaching assistant) at work then they are in bubble for work purposes. It's not a supoort bubble as defined by the law so he shouldn't be going round to hers, unless they meet one of the limited criteria. My school has divided staff into bubbles so that if there's a positive case they know who are the likely potential contacts. I still have a support bubble because that is totally separate to our bubbles at work.

The one night stand is totally out of order.

Definitely speak to him OP.
