Do you know anyone who is refusing to have the vaccine, for whatever reason

No. Everyone I know has said yes please.

Chemenger · 29/01/2021 18:29

Everyone I know can’t wait to have it.

everyone I know is desperate for it and anyone who has been offered it has grabbed it.

DH works with some people that claim they wont have it because of but they are all late twenties/early thirties with no health conditions so are nowhere near being oferred it.

Roselilly36 · 29/01/2021 18:33

MIL, terrified of contracting COVID, but also terrified of the Vaccines, what can you do?

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/01/2021 18:35

No, all people where I work have had or having their vaccines.

Heatherjayne1972 · 29/01/2021 18:37

Yes. My sister the conspiracy theorist
Apparently vaccines cause autism/ mean bill gates can track us/ it will kill people/ mass control of people etc etc etc

Yawn - I’ve had mine

BrownFootStool · 29/01/2021 18:39

My boss who doesn't 'put things in her body' and also hates needles

Aimee1987 · 29/01/2021 18:39

My mother is a massive anti vaxer.
She insists the world will only return to normal once anti viral treatments become widely available

I've stated that there is not going to be any situation in which anti virals are handed out in the same way as antibiotics and why ( I'm a medical scientist) but she wont listen.
Shes in her 70s with asthma and terrified of covid. Hmm

Ginfordinner · 29/01/2021 18:42

SIL reacted so badly to the first one that she cancelled her second one. Other than that everyone else I know is excited to get one. I will have to wait as I am in category 7.

Cissyandflora · 29/01/2021 18:42

I’ve heard lots of anti vax comments. Because of my work apparently we are going to be called for a vaccine next month. Lots of people have said they don’t want it. I’ll have it but feel bad that I may be ahead of more needy people.

badlydrawnbear · 29/01/2021 18:42

I am a nurse, and have colleagues who won't have it (not all of them are nurses but they work in a hospital) for various reasons: anti-vax, worried about side effects, worried about effect on fertility/ pregnancy/ breastfeeding, concerned by how new it is and might consider it at a later date.

LemonBreeland · 29/01/2021 18:42

My MIL as she wanted to wait to see how people reacted to it first. She also never has the flu vaccine apparently. She lives in an assisted living place with carers so is at risk with that as well as being 80.

wowfudge · 29/01/2021 18:45

I know one person who has expressed concern over potential reactions to it, but everyone on the zoom call reassured her.

Yes both of my parents. Think it’s far too fast and it mustn’t be safe. Intend waiting to see if any bad side effects emerge. Have already been offered it and aren’t going to the appointments. Both have health issues (and are 70+) that would make them more susceptible to Covid. I know it’s their choice but I’m feeling very frustrated.

addicted2spaniels · 29/01/2021 18:47

I'm very on the fence, tbh (type 2 diabetic). I only ever had the flu jab once at my GPs insistence, and was ill for weeks afterwards. In fact I was ill that entire winter. I was also very unwell after the chickenpox vaccine.

It's a completely new type of vaccine, and it's been rushed through in pandemic conditions meaning that normal testing protocols have been bypassed.

However I appreciate that it's the only real method of dampening down this pandemic right now, and wouldn't pass judgement on other people having it. I just don't know if I want to have it at this moment.

traveller11 · 29/01/2021 18:48

Yes, me.

I'm not having something which hasn't been extensively studied.
Same reason why I didn't have the HPV jab when it first was released too

MrMeSeeks · 29/01/2021 18:48

Yes. Multiple people, religious reasons.

Ginfordinner · 29/01/2021 18:53

What are the religious reasons for refusing a vaccine?

Snozzlemaid · 29/01/2021 18:54

Please read some real science on this. It's not a completely new type of vaccine at all.
Ginfordinner · 29/01/2021 18:55

I don't think you are correct there. It has been "rushed" because the finance for it has been found quickly. Usually they have to apply for more funding at each stage of the process, but this time the funding has been available for the next stage straight away.

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/01/2021 18:56

The Oxford 1 has not been rushed, it has been tweaked a bit.

Updatemate · 29/01/2021 19:00

Unfortunately lots of people.

Mostly because they, wrongly, believe it has been 'rushed' and is therefore experimental.

Others because they are in to batshit conspiracy theory rubbish.

And then a few refusing AZ but say they'll have Pfizer and vice versa. All for fairy spurious reasons.

Not counting those who have refused due to concerns regarding their anaphylaxis.

Now that millions of people have had all the curent vaccines what study results are you waiting for? Side effects or efficacy or something else?
