My children sleep on the floor.

They have beds. One has a double bed the other bunk beds. But apparently, it's more fun to sleep on the floor in the dens they have built. In the summer, they will often sleep in the garden, but not necessarily a tent.

Their record is 150 days for the eldest, 100 for the youngest.

Electricwigglefish · 28/01/2021 20:30

A pet pike! Can't say the other weird things dh is responsible for its too outing!!

Gurufloof · 28/01/2021 20:30

My kids brush their teeth in the kitchen sink

I do this. It started decades ago when I had a chest infection and walking up the stairs again was not an option.

Morning routine for the tortoise is probably a bit weird – he has breakfast with us. He comes out of his indoor house-box to eat on the kitchen step in the sunshine and warm up before he goes out into the garden for the day.

He spreads all 4 legs out like a frog for maximum sun exposure so he looks like someone's dropped him from a great height and gone 'splat' Grin

When my cousin came to stay she thought there was a mouse in the cereal box on the table - it was actually the sound of Schumacher crunching noisily on his lettuce by the door.

Cattermole · 28/01/2021 20:33

Swords on the landing (reproduction 17th century cavalry backsword, mine, and Napoleonic boarding cutlass, DH's)
Enormous quantities of wool, some of it au naturel waiting to be spun, and a Roman two-beam loom in the dining room.

Giggorata · 28/01/2021 20:34

We have a fake fireplace, complete with mantelpiece, deer head over it and hearth. It is actually a door. I have an inset from an old electric fire in the “grate” with a red light, and it glows nicely on dark evenings. I have a clock, candlesticks, etc on the mantelpiece, hooked to the wall, or stuck down. Behind it are the front doors.
I used to have a life sized cardboard Spike from Buffy, but he developed a bad crease and, regretfully, I chucked him out.
We still have a pew at the kitchen table. We have a well. There is a large vampire castle dolls house in one of the bedrooms.
The house goes round a corner, so some of the rooms are very oddly shaped.

My favourite is the dog's sloth collection, and the resigned redistribution of same 🤣

@IncludeWomenInTheSequel

My bedroom is feet from a massive pond and in springtime I can constantly hear frog sex happening. And I really mean constantly.
how wonderful! but also you wd be like shuuut uuup Grin
Staffy1 · 28/01/2021 20:35

We have a canvas picture of George pig and Mr Dinosaur in the lounge, plus a mattress upright between a chair and the wall to stop a hyper kid hitting head on the wall when running at high speed up the chair.

dementedma · 28/01/2021 20:35

DS has 6 bass guitars in his bedroom.
There is a lot of seaglass in the house
We dont own a microwave, a tumbke dryer or a hairdryer.
I dont own a hairbrush or a comb.
There is a baby doll called Alan in a Moses basket on top of our wardrobe. My youngest dc is 19
My father is in my bedroom cupboard.

Stovetopespresso · 28/01/2021 20:36

we have a really tatty old house which was originally 2 cottages, where the divide was you HAVE to duck as its about 4ft like Alice in wonderland

fucknuckle · 28/01/2021 20:36

in my last house i had a Pat Butcher clock on my kitchen wall.

Stovetopespresso · 28/01/2021 20:37

Does anyone flush leftover food down the toilet? I don’t but know two people who do! I can’t get my head around it.. I just imagine it looking like sick! 🤢
That’s bizarre! Compost heap or bin for us although our council has just introduced food waste bins now. I would never flush anything down the loo that wasn’t bodily waste or loo roll!
AlCalavicci · 28/01/2021 20:37

I dont have a TV a microwave a toaster or a electric kettle !
I use my lap top to watch things occasionally, I have a eve level gas grill and a hob top kettle .
I also keep bread in the freezer , so that is not strange to me .

MiriamMargo · 28/01/2021 20:37

@PattyPan

We have shoes off in our house too, that’s not unusual (might be regional/class based). Shoes on carpets

Probably the most unusual thing is that we have bikes in our living room/next to the front door (which I hate! Dirty and looks awful) because serial procrastinator DP hasn’t got round to sorting a bike shed for the front garden and it would be more annoying to traipse them through the whole house into the back garden.

shoes off in the house, but bikes int he living room !!! Are they flying bikes that dont ride on roads and pavements??
LivingMyBestLife2020 · 28/01/2021 20:39

I don’t have anything to weird I don’t think. I have my bike in the living room as it’s quite expensive and I feel better knowing it’s safe indoors. I washed it after my ride yesterday and left it in the garden to dry. My living room looked completely odd and bare.

BalconiWaferAddict · 28/01/2021 20:41

@spiderlight that’s the best thing I’ve read all day! Why sloths?

BrassyLocks · 28/01/2021 20:41

We have a large grand piano but no dining table. No, we don't eat off the piano Grin

Kerberos · 28/01/2021 20:42

@Theforest

We have two large TVs in the lounge. Both kids play xbox. We only watch the newest one for TV.
We do too! Saves arguments :)
tumbletastic · 28/01/2021 20:42

A through the floor lift in family room that goes up into lift room. Locks on outside of all the doors. An electric go cart in the family room. Gym in the front room. Safe space downstairs. Sofa in dd bedroom.
I think that's it?!

Wanderlust20 · 28/01/2021 20:42

Not weird at all, always put bread in the freezer! My DH doesn't really eat much bread so a loaf would go to waste in our house if I didn't take out a few slices at a time!

happytobemrsg · 28/01/2021 20:43

@soundofsilence1 that sounds amazing. I’m putting a coffee corner in my new kitchen, but yours sounds yummy

They will end up with a blocked soil pipe! Bleeeurgh!
mumwon · 28/01/2021 20:44

@80sMum (I will have to go & count but I have quite a few including several gf types)
Other people have wine cellars -we have tea cupboards (plural) & I have a cupboard for my tea pots (I am not addicted - much Grin) we also have several(!!!) spice cupboards & ditto herbs. This comes from being a multicultural family & we both like cooking.

tumbletastic · 28/01/2021 20:45

A walk in pantry big enough for an additional freezer.
