As a side with pasta dish.

Just that 🙂

2 people here, and we both have to declare ‘end’ so we’ve both had it 🤣

Whoever said they wouldn’t have it with pasta I have no idea how to react. I genuinely cannot have pasta WITHOUT garlic bread. Although, my preference is the flatbread style!

LookMoreCloselier · 26/01/2021 16:07

2 adults 2 kids

ShutUpAlex · 26/01/2021 16:08

One between 3 of us. But I can, and have, eaten two baguettes to myself Grin

Laufeythejust · 26/01/2021 16:09

2 people here too although I don’t cook it often, we have no self control when it comes to garlic bread- I could eat the entire stick to myself if left at it.

EerieSilence · 26/01/2021 16:10

We never had garlic bread with pasta. The pasta you make is to be savoured on its own, not be drowned by the garlic bread. You're either destroying your palate or use some ready-made awful pasta sauces and then you could just eat the garlic bread on its own.
We like to use sourdough bread which we toast, then scrub a garlic clove over the toasted surface and spread some good salted butter on it. Delicious on its own, with some winter salad.

grenadines · 26/01/2021 16:10

4 - although two people end up unhappy with the end and not much more!

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 26/01/2021 16:11

1 baguette for 2 people in this house, but I have teen sons so they eat adult portions. We do 2 baguettes for 4 of us.

I don't understand the no to garlic bread with pasta. What the hell do you eat it with? I can understand no to garlic bread with pizza, but pasta?

One used to be fine for me and DH when the dc didn't like it.

Now I cook 2 to be shared between 4 adults.

MrsElf · 26/01/2021 16:12

6 with pasta, about one slice with each plate.
Garlic baguette usually lasts three platefuls as a side, but we tend to have garlic bread instead of pasta or potatoes, rather than with it.

Peanutbutterblood · 26/01/2021 16:12

4, DJ, 5yo and 2yo have 2 slices each and I have one slice. We usually have quite big pasta portions though

Food police have arrived. Grin

And no, I don't use jars of pasta sauce I make my own.

Fizbosshoes · 26/01/2021 16:13

will this become like the infamous MN chicken....?
"I would only buy a standard garlic bread when the kids are having a party and there are at least 25 guests, or it just won't get eaten..."

"We are full up after 2 crumbs because we don't eat many carbs!"
Grin

katienana · 26/01/2021 16:13

4 but to be honest if I cooked one baguette per person it would probably still get eaten! It's a firm favourite in this house!

BarbaraofSeville · 26/01/2021 16:14

We'd share it between the two of us, and feel a bit short changed because it's so delicious.

But I have been known to eat all of it while cooking the meal and then deny that it ever existed Grin.

As soon as opened the thread, I knew that someone admitting to serving more than one type of carb in a single meal was going to cause controversy.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 26/01/2021 16:14

@EerieSilence destroy our palate? Thank you for the biggest laugh of the day. My palate is just fine thank you. I make lovely food and have eaten in some restaurants with amazing food. I still like a supermarket garlic baguette with my pasta!

HappyThursdays · 26/01/2021 16:14

the garlic bread is used to mop up the sauce with pasta surely - that's the best bit!

Peanutbutterblood · 26/01/2021 16:14

And the dog gets the ends in our house

ShutUpAlex · 26/01/2021 16:14

So garlic bread then 🤣🤣

Marmite27 · 26/01/2021 16:15

2 adults, 1 reception child and one older toddler.

Robbybobtail · 26/01/2021 16:15

Is anyone else thinking of Peter Kay? “Garlic bread? GARLIC BREAD!!!?”

I got some of that garlic boursin with my food delivery this month, because I'm living on the edge in lockdown, and am now fantasising about that on bread instead of just the garlic

Ginfordinner · 26/01/2021 16:17

@Robbybobtail

Oh sorry, just saw you said with pasta - I wouldn’t have bread and pasta!
Neither would I. If I did serve it as a side with pasta it would comfortably feed the three of us.

However, I am not stingy with pasta portions Grin
