3 but dd only has 1 slice and we have 3/4 each

FancySomeChips · 27/01/2021 20:28

I eat garlic bread on its own!

safariboot · 27/01/2021 20:34

Two, because that's how many people we are. If we were more it would serve more, especially as a side to an already decent meal.

MerlinsSaggyLeftTit · 27/01/2021 20:44

4 of us (me, DH and two young DC) We could easily polish off a lot more, but try to pretend we are restrained.

Nunoftheother · 27/01/2021 21:07

@HebeMumsnet

None of you are true Mumsnet cooks. In MY house we have a garlic baguette between four of us, the cats get the garlic bread offal, then we use the leftovers to have cold garlic bread cuts for Monday dinner, garlic bread pie for Tuesday dinner, garlic bread sandwiches for the week's packed lunches and I make garlic bread stock for the freezer, too. Wink
@HebeMumsnet - I realise you were joking, but just in case you were serious about the cats having some, garlic is highly toxic to felines.
DenisetheMenace · 27/01/2021 21:09

Two

Phoenixrising1 · 27/01/2021 21:31

3 - 2 adults and DS13. However DP and DS both complain about small portion and would happily eat a whole baguette each (so would I truth be told Grin )

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 27/01/2021 21:52

One baguette between three people, so three slices each (although I always think it’s weird that it’s nine slices 🤔). Especially if I’m trying to stretch a smaller amount of pasta.

I live alone, so I'd probably break a garlic stick in half and cook that for one meal, then cook the other half for the next meal.

I once incited a major debate at a party as to whether it's socially acceptable to order a side of garlic bread as pudding, if everyone else at the table is having pudding, when you don't have a sweet tooth but do like garlic bread.

CoffeeChocolateGin · 27/01/2021 22:08

God, I love this thread!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/01/2021 22:20

Two. I’d usually have three bits, DP the rest - he’s 6ft 5 and could easily eat the whole thing.

I think I really want to be your friend! I would totally do this if it was socially acceptable. 🤣

@hebemumsnet you forgot the garlic ice cream.

I think yopu'd have many friends with that order!

When DH and I were young and on one of our first holidays we were in Menorca and out for dinner. He decided to have a full portion of spag bol as a starter and then ordered the Paella for a main. The waiter pointed out that you can only order Paella for two so..... so DH said that's okay, I'll just have the double portion. In the meantime, I'm just having a normal meal. Anyway, comes dessert time and I look and order some ice-cream. Waiter looks at DH who slowly scans the dessert menu and then looks up and says "could I just have another paella for dessert?"

He got it and ate it all.

I should mention at this point that DH is about 6'2 and at that point was about 12 stone soaking wet.

Garlic is poisonous for cats

@Gothicashoker

Garlic is poisonous for cats
It was a joke based on the infamous mumsnet chicken
Providora · 27/01/2021 22:50

I can't believe anyone would read 'garlic bread offal' for cats and think there was a serious point to be made. But here we are.

Kitdeluca1 · 27/01/2021 23:21

We don’t have it very often (less than once a month) but when we do I’m a greedy bitch and will have a full one😂 DP does too! We don’t have pasta with it though, slice the full baguette open and fill it with bolognase! Absolute treat but I need a lie down after it🤦🏽‍♀️

I make my own
Nice slab of sourdough, drizzle with good garlic oil, I like borderfields its yummy, top with good strong cheese.
Bake in oven (not grill) until cheese melted

HeadNorth · 28/01/2021 07:47

What if you don't have a 'nice slab' of sourdough, only rubbish ordinary sourdough?
Are your towels fluffy and is your bedlinen crisp? You obviously live on a more elevated plane to the average Mumsnet pleb.
