DH just phoned hospital and they said no results in - phew - and they don't know why he's on ECV list either. Not sure if his GP will cancel it but would be good if he can get it on Saturday.

Spudlet · 10/02/2021 09:46

The ECV list seems to be a bit of a moveable feast - my mum just found out that my brother should have been on it all along, but he was missed off because the condition that qualifies him is so rare and complex. She sorted this out just yesterday! So it’s definitely possible that a bit of confusion has arisen.

Squirrel26 · 10/02/2021 10:42

@Silkiechickscat if I had to make a guess, and if it is your DH’s GP surgery who is inviting him for a vaccine, I would say that someone at the surgery has looked for patients with a mention of ‘cancer’ in their notes, and your DH has ‘referral for suspected skin cancer’ (ie mole removal) in his.

I’d have the vaccine if I was him. May as well take it if they’re offering. Wink

Silkiechickscat · 10/02/2021 10:54

That's my guess as well - either hospital or GP have added him as he's undergoing cancer tests so if he needs treatment he would be ready. He's booked it so hopefully they don't cancel it.

I need to sort out my drying mountain total, all my clean stuff is piled high so much that some will need to be rewashed as cats have made their bed where it has been knocked over. I'm good in general at keeping on top of the washing and drying but not putting it away.

I need to find socks as I'm out of "comfy" ones. I go thru the favourites first but need to get more but no Primark at the moment.

soddingkitten · 10/02/2021 11:59

Frogs I don’t know if they’re to your budget but Boots had a 3 for 2 on their bamboo socks last time I was in there. They are so soft, we all fight over them in our house.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 10/02/2021 12:05

Definitely encourage him to get the vaccine, Ecv and the shielding list was very hit and miss.

I didn't get the letter to advise me to shield until August (started in March) and 2 days later I got a letter to release me from shielding. Not confusing or anything?

I'm lucky I'm not working as it would have been very tricky with an employer but I knew to shield anyhow this was confirmed that I was shielding in phone reviews from March onward but not "official" on paper as each thought the other was issuing the official letter.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 10/02/2021 12:09

Thanks @soddingkittenI love bamboo, 80% of my pile is and a couple of cashmere and the rest are loose topped cotton type as my ankles are swollen but then some are too loose and keep riding down and off. I'm fussy as comfort is above all else.

Silkiechickscat · 10/02/2021 12:43

I saw an advert for the Grand BigMac and it seemed the most exciting thing happening around here so DH is off to get some and seemed quite excited and glad to have an excuse to go out too. He had already put jackets in the oven but DD is vegan and she loves jackets and always complains there aren't enough so she will be in luck too.

Squirrel26 · 10/02/2021 12:47

I sometimes cook an extra jacket potato and then keep it and reheat it later (this is probably the worst food crime ever but I don’t care. I do not have gourmet tastebuds.)

My phone wanted to correct ‘potato’ to ‘POTUS’.

The last POTUS was a bit of a vegetable. Grin

Welcome, @ShyAmy333 and thanks for sharing your news.

We got about 3" of snow yesterday, the third storm in eight days. I think DH is pretty bloody sick of clearing the driveway at this point.

The storms are all just blending into one here too. The snowblower died a couple of days ago. I may never go out again...

Get a Honda. They're easy to start, run quieter than most and are really reliable. We've had ours since 2003. We also get it serviced annually at the lawnmower shop where DH bought it.

The forecast includes more snow this weekend.

@HildaTablet
Thanks for the clarification, I note that down. So cookware are my pots and pans?

English is just a very, very beautiful language - (and you have not heard me speak Grin). I fell in love when I heard my DF work through 'Calling all Beginners' in - I think - 1966.

HildaTablet · 10/02/2021 17:02

Prok yes, exactly, cookware for saucepans etc.

(Our German lessons at school were accompanied by Sprich mal Deutsch! - I just looked it up and a mere glance at the cover and the typeface took me back to my teenage self in an alarmingly vivid way.)

Spudlet · 10/02/2021 17:07

My German is not really coming on terribly well, despite regular visits from the little green bundle of guilt. I haven’t really progressed much beyond ‘ich bin eine Frau’. While it is quite useful to be clear about this, it isn’t going to get me very far in conversation Grin

I have run out of little hearts today though (I do find it annoying that they just sling new vocabulary out there so you have to Google or guess - I chose guessing and it did not end well) so I will have to continue tomorrow.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/02/2021 17:09

Hilda That is a slightly odd expression and a tiny bit insulting to the learner, because of the 'mal' - Do you still have the book? The 1980 version is sold on Amazon for 77 €.

Nydj · 10/02/2021 17:57

My roll-on deodorant is nearly empty. I have a spare in the bathroom cabinet. In other dull bathroom related news, I washed our towels today.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/02/2021 18:29

Towels!!! Thank you - I filled the machine, but did I turn it on? No.

HildaTablet · 10/02/2021 18:37

Haha, no, I can't think whatever happened to my copy of the book, Prok, but 77€?! Shock

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 10/02/2021 19:24

@Squirrel26, I’ve often cooked an extra jacket potato, purely to slice and fry with something nice for breakfast.

And the other day I purposely cooked a lot of extra potatoes and cabbage for bubble and squeak next day.

Must do it more often. Was yum with a fried egg.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/02/2021 19:45

Hilda It's vintage! Anyway it is offered for that price, don't know if there are any takers.

I started with 'Learning English' - the beginners book had a black and white picture of kids in school uniforms on the cover.

mathanxiety · 10/02/2021 19:56

Spending the day catching up on paperwork. I'll have to go out to the post office later.

We have just under a 50% chance of snow every day for the foreseeable. The last snowfall (Monday night) apparently had a 48:1 ratio of snow to water, and if that level of fluffiness continues I am fine with whatever comes my way. The previous snow had a much wetter, heavier consistency.

soddingkitten · 10/02/2021 20:17

I made a chicken, ham and leek pie for dinner. It was very well received by my ravening horde. There are no leftovers for tomorrow but everyone enjoyed their dinner.

Sodding was miaowing quietly in his sleep earlier on my lap. It sounded like a territorial dispute “get out of my garden” miaow.

Still no snow. Despite a few flurries, nothing has settled here.

Sunbird24 · 10/02/2021 20:45

My hay fever has been less bad today than yesterday.
