Woke up to -10 C with a lot of wind.
I go into the office a bit later, I think!

Silkiechickscat · 08/02/2021 07:01

We have heavy snow predicted for today. I haven't slept yet and DH was also chatting to me a lot, he's struggling to sleep because of the hole the hospial cut in his back to cut out the moles and skin. Poor DH. We discussed the capital gains return and his pension, it was very romantic.

It's recycling day here and having a cup of tea soon. DS/my online lessons start at 8.30am and go to 3pm. I will hoepfully get DS needs assessment signed and back to senco, Microsoft unfortunately e-mailed her I was trying to log-on at 2am and asked if she gave me permission Blush, second time it let me in. Hopefully can sleep after that.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/02/2021 07:04

I am still at home. I don' t want go out there!

Silkiechickscat · 08/02/2021 07:07

I wouldn't want to go out in that either.

I'm in bed drinking tea looking at a snowy thatched roof which is nice.

Spudlet · 08/02/2021 07:52

Got a bit more snow here now and it’s still coming. The road is a bit slushy! It’s going to be a steady trundle to the supermarket later to pick up our order ❄️

halfpasteleven · 08/02/2021 07:54

@Prokupatuscrakedatus I wouldn't be rushing out into that either!
Do you have the option to work from home?
There's a raw east wind here but no snow.

Deathraystare · 08/02/2021 07:57

Got a text to ask me to do today's early shift. So whoever was doing the shift is presumably in bed still warm and cosy!

It was still very dark when I set out and I managed to get off about 4 stops earlier on the bus than I needed to. I was in a road with a row of shops but I was looking to the let where it is less lit and practically threw myself off the bus because I thought I was going past it. I then had a freezing 10 minute wait.

We have had a small bit of snow in West London but no as much as my brother go in Kent. I have fond memories going back to the 60's (yes I am that old!) in Kent as a schoolgirl when we were sent home because of the snow!

Frownette · 08/02/2021 08:02

@Lelophants

We had some really nice nectarines today. They were from Tesco - really ripe and juicy.
That's made me really crave one now
Taswama · 08/02/2021 08:23

I took two boxes of new contact lenses from the bigger box, and got one of each on my first attempt. Made me smile.

Frownette · 08/02/2021 08:50

Drat and blast Valentine's day, the bloke I like said to come over this week to pick something up from his house. I was going to get him some chocolates to say thanks but can't do that now in case he thinks it's a Valentine's gift! Thank you card it is.

Nydj · 08/02/2021 09:35

Oh frownette 😔. Bloody Valentine’s Day is awful and divisive at the best of time and in the midst of a pandemic? It should just be cancelled at least for this year

HelenaJustina · 08/02/2021 12:05

I slithered to work this morning for 7.30am on ungritted country roads. Very glad and slightly surprised to arrive in one piece. I then spent nearly an hour making the site safe for the rest of the staff and pupils. Still snowing in light flurries but it’s not lying thickly. Will be a very slippery run later!

I’ve got an annoying admin job out of the way earlier in the week than I usually manage.

Silkiechickscat · 08/02/2021 13:43

We are getting light snow here and quite a bit on the roof. We've got icicles coming off the thatched roof. DH was very excited and said there are stalactites on our house.

Done all the online lessons for today. Got the money through from the house sale and been moving money, DS was very impressed as he loves numbers and this and the tax returns are making him very excited.

Sent special needs form back to school fo EHCP assessment application for DS.

Frownette If you like the man why can't you give him chocolates? Confused but I've been with DH for over 20 years so maybe I've forgotten.

I'm so sleepy now as haven't slept yet but now I can sleep. All my to do list for today is done and DH also did recycling.

Silkiechickscat · 08/02/2021 13:46

And galaxy have changed their milk chocolate ripple wrapper to white - that seems so wrong to me. I'm still eating them but white is for white chocolate. DH doesn't understand my level of concern.

forgetthehousework · 08/02/2021 13:58

Totally agree Silkie, that's just so wrong. Obviously the solution is to eat them all so you're not distressed by the wrappers.
soddingkitten · 08/02/2021 16:11

It tried to snow here earlier, but not with any enthusiasm. Nothing settled.

I’m wading through a long technical report at the moment to check it satisfies all of our requirements before raising an invoice to pay the supplier. It is painfully slow work. There is not enough chocolate or coffee in the world to make this task palatable. Sigh. Only another 40 pages to go...

MissConductUS · 08/02/2021 16:27

Weclome, @Lelophants and thanks for sharing your neonate, fruit and home remodeling news. We redid our shower last August and used an off white tile. I posted pictures by popular request after the crack team of shower door professionals dropped the glass door while installing it. This was back on thread 8 if I recall correctly.

It's been a very busy morning, and we have another snowstorm coming tomorrow.

Sad Angry

Silkie I'd be too shy in case it was misrepresented! I asked a friend and she said "noooo, don't give him chocolates"

Glad you warned people about ripple wrapping, I'm frequently sent to buy them and I'd get confused thinking it was white chocolate too

MissConductUS · 08/02/2021 17:00

If you fancy him give him a small box, or something other than just a card. Maybe he fancies you too and is just too shy to make the first move, or is afraid you'll brush him off.

I connected with DH on match.com when it was so new it was free and there were no pictures. I saw his profile, was intrigued, and sent him a message more or less asking him out. What did I have to lose? We were married a year and a half later. We lived in different towns, so I never would have met him otherwise. And if he said no, nothing lost.

She who dares, wins. Grin

Hello,
just came home and caught up with you all.
Valentine never became a thing here. He was not a favoured saint not even in Pepys days. I still remeber when the flower shop association started to run advertising campaigns.

It's -11 °C here and a lovely wind straight vom the Ural mountains.

DoctorTwo · 08/02/2021 19:30

I had a nap for an hour and a half, waking up just in time for The Archers. Poor Neeyul.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/02/2021 19:33

Morose Pidgeon ignores me, too much snow.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 11: Calmly through the day
HelenaJustina · 08/02/2021 19:36

@DoctorTwo I prefer to avoid the Archers all week and then listen to the omnibus while ironing or cleaning the kitchen on a Sunday. But sometimes it’s so tempting to ‘drop in’! From your comment, I imagine Neeyul’s interview with the young thrusting reporter has had unintended consequences?

Sunbird24 · 08/02/2021 19:47

I opened a box of orange Matchmakers earlier and found every single stick broken into tiny bits. One serving is 4 sticks; I couldn’t work out how many tiny bits that was so I ate all of them.

Frownette · 08/02/2021 20:00

Oh that's really sweet @MissConductUS, so lovely!

I was only planning to give him a small box of high quality chocs anyway but have been so distracted by the prison case recently I was unaware valentines hadn't passed then thought it might be inappropriate to give chocs. He sent me an email today saying I made him laugh but since we met online and not OLD I can't ask him if he has a girlfriend. I can however post chocs after Valentine's because I do genuinely want to say thank you.

soddingkitten has your torment passed...? How much are the 40 pages down by? I feel your pain about microchecking
