That was long Confused

lurch3r · 01/02/2021 07:54

I like the idea of this thread. Sunbird24 I binge watched the entire of Bridgerton in bed yesterday. It was OK, just the kind of fluffy TV I was looking for. I might get up now but I have a cat asleep on my lap which complicates matters.

lurch3r · 01/02/2021 08:10

Sorry, Frownette, I didn't mean to ignore your last post. That sounds stressful, I hope it is soon resolved.

Frownette · 01/02/2021 08:26

Thanks lurch3r :) It'll be ok just have to learn to be patient and not have a knee jerk reaction. Which you can do if you see an injustice.

Cat on the lap sounds brilliant, I'm wondering where I would acquire one from?! Leave a trail of tuna up to the front door?

Spudlet · 01/02/2021 08:56

@Frownette That’s awful. Keep your powder dry.... then at the appropriate moment, go for the jugular.

forgetthehousework · 01/02/2021 11:21

@Sunbird24 if in doubt always go for red Grin. A couple of weeks ago I bought a devore coat from Joe Brown, but I don't think I mentioned it on here as I was FAR to excited about it for this thread! (It is absolutely gorgeous).

MissConductUS · 01/02/2021 11:48

Welcome, @lurch3r and thanks for sharing your binge-watching and feline news. When a cat lands on your lap like that you've been captured. It happens to me regularly.

@Frownette - That's awful. Was the person represented by an attorney with who you could discuss it?

@Sunbird24 - both are sharp, but if you want a little zing in your wardrobe I'd say go for the red.

We had a nice Zoom call last night with my MIL, who had the Pfizer jab last week, and my DD at uni. Both are doing well. BBQ ribs and chicken were delicious.

I woke up to 3-4 inches of snow already on the ground. The forecast is for a total of 12-18 by the time the storm is over midday tomorrow. This is really going to be a lot of work. This is the same storm that hit mathanxiety last night.

Since running was out of the question I did 30 minutes on the stationary bike this morning. I'm officially wfh regardless of the snow, so I will have to keep an eye on email and I probably have some Zoom or Teams meetings. It's still dark outside here, which is a bit depressing.

Here's a bird queuing for breakfast. Smile

You have proper snow MissC! Ours was underwhelming and all melted by tea time yesterday.

I have a meeting-free day, which is just as well as I have spent the last hour in a remote technical session trying to resolve an issue with my work laptop. 🙄 My motivation is on the floor today, regardless. Two large mugs of coffee haven’t helped. I’m all out of ideas.

Therainisback · 01/02/2021 12:50

Ma our kitchen walls are turquoise, I love it. I'd stick to white for the boards (but I'm dull Grin)

Squirrel26 · 01/02/2021 13:09

My motivation is on the floor too, @soddingkitten. It took me 4 hours from getting up to achieving anything.

In happier news, I have just ordered a plant. I’m going to hang it in the bathroom (I have exposed beams in the bathroom which lend themselves to having stuff hung off them.)

MissConductUS · 01/02/2021 16:11

Sodding, that's a great picture of your little marauder. He looks like he's contemplating his next act of sabotage.

DH has made one pass at the driveway with the snowblower just to keep it from building up and he plans on doing the same with the deck when he breaks for lunch. This is shaping up to be quite a snowfall event. It's a bit odd to have all three of us home at the same time on a weekday.

DS reports he has little to do with his internship this week. The firm lost the client he was lined up to help with. There is some training he can do while they sort it out, which I presume he will get paid for.

I just made £115 selling some of my ‘play fund’ shares so that’s going in the leather jacket pot. Now waiting for the price to drop again so I can buy them back and hopefully make a bit more on the next spike. It was only a £500 fund to start with, I’m too risk averse to chuck big money at it!

Spudlet · 01/02/2021 17:18

I have been very busy in the kitchen this afternoon and have made cashew nuts energy bars, brownies, and a sweet potato shepherd’s pie. Feeling very domestic goddess-esque.

Now sitting watching Moana with DS. He was snuggled up on the sofa with me but has abandoned me to stand two inches from the screen (why do kids do that?) so ddog has swiped his snuggle spot.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/02/2021 17:48

Just caught up with the day. Our bathroom has grey tiles (wall) and white tiles (floor) and there is nothing we can do about it but ignore it. They do their job.

miss Love the bird queue - we only ever get one morose looking wood pidgeon.

Have the girls been found?

Silkiechickscat · 01/02/2021 18:56

The girls were missing last night as well but an update has just been posted that they have been found and are on their way home - no details being provided other than they are safe which is the main thing. DD is currently asleep so can't ask her.

Heard that house sale may exchange and complete by Friday but buyers-buyer awaiting one last document.

Did some home learning with DS but he's refusing tests so I had to do his chemistry one, its been about 200 years since I did chemistry gcse and can't remember any of it but google was hopefully my friend plus I had to listen to DS's lessons. Will see what mark he gets - I did it all except one drawing question as DS always refuses to draw. I showed it DH as he works in science but not chemistry and he said he'ld not got a clue. DD said she would help but didn't and tbf its DS's test.

Now we've been sent a maths test which was supposed to do today but we are now behind by that but all we are behind.

Had jackets with corned beef for lunch and a Galaxy ripple, they have now changed wrapper to white Confused DH has had piano lesson and is now playing piano, it doesnt seem to be improving but he's very hard of hearing and won't get help insisting he can hear fine or he doesn't care. Teacher is trying hard.

Frownette · 01/02/2021 19:36

@MissConductUS no they had no legal representation whatsoever :(

And tried to stomp on me when I complained about lack of procedure. I used to trust the police, I don't now. But realise this is silly, most are ethical, it's just a bad experience.

I was totally surprised today to find out my organs and blood are back to normal. I was expecting them to say YOU'RE DOOMED.

No more bloods. Here endeth the lesson.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/02/2021 19:55

Silkie - good that they have been found. I hope it was just misguided boredom and not problems at home.

DH has an OP date for his second leg (venes) and will get a proper antibody test as part of the preparations.

@frownette - Good news! Smile

Silkiechickscat · 01/02/2021 20:34

Thanks Prok I think it was bored in lockdown / teenage rebellion for one at DDs school but possibly bigger issues with the other girl as she's done it repeatedly though has a very nice home with large outdoor swimming pool which I'm quite jealous of. Schools /social care will be investigating that, there's an automatic referral with any police contact though sometimes they do nothing but as 2 nights involved would imagine there will be pretty thorough checks.

DD seems jealous of their London trip Hmm though she messaged and a boy said I can come over to your village for a walk with you as she said she was lonely - he's a lovely, kind boy and she replied no, I'm not allowed to leave my house as she can't be bothered to walk with him Hmm

Just about to have dinner, having steak baguette then a fruit salad.

Silkiechickscat · 01/02/2021 20:39

We have some hemp bedding arriving tomorrow for the silkies I ordered. Have to put up the mail catcher and line it so rabbit can't eat any more mail, we have lots with big circle holes (tennis ball sized) in.

Need to do royal mail redirect as I've not done the 7 change of address letters yet and best to do it anyway as firms often send letters to both to confirm.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/02/2021 21:18

DD is singing under the shower - sth Korean.

Tomorrow is Lichtmess (candlemass?) - the day when traditionally people could start doing their work without using artificial light (candles). Sunrise is before 8 am - feels good to leave the house for work being able to see sth. They promised sleet.

Silkiechickscat · 01/02/2021 21:42

Royal mail have rejected my change of address saying I may have my name or my date of birth wrong but funnily enough I know them both. Not sure what the issue is but maybe as we bought here before. It says can apply by post and send cheque but not sure its worth it - I may as well do the change of address letters, its just I have a week of online learning first and we have to clear old house and one maths exam. And just got EHCP form application. Still if it all gets done could be a very productive week.

MissConductUS · 01/02/2021 23:09

It's been an epic snowstorm. We've had about 16 inches and about 12 hours left of snow. It took DH 90 minutes to do the second snow blow of the driveway. He's exhausted so DS is making pizza for dinner.

The picture was taken at 3:00 PM and the birds have been mobbing the feeder all day.

OP posts:
soddingkitten · 01/02/2021 23:34

MissC - that’s a lot of snow! Your earlier bird feeder photo and the update show a huge difference. Where has the stone wall gone? 😄

Heavy rain here, rattling away on the chimney cowl. Sodding has been asleep on me since 10pm. I have an early start so am just about to carry him to his bed and tuck him in for the night. Night all!

Silkiechickscat · 02/02/2021 01:38

That's a lot of snow MissC And the one bird looks rather spherical like he's being eating rather a lot from the bird feeder.

Trying to plan the week ahead. Just had to cancel the virtual parents evening for DD though not needed as she's achieving well in everything as its the evening before house sale completes. I told DH its going to be very busy and said to DH not helped by having (DS) an annoying child to home school and at the moment I said annoying child the cat started her howling so 2 annoying whining small creatures. Grin And DD is currently in the kitchen at 1.37am Hmm

Discoveryplus seems to think I'm under 12 and is restricting my viewing a lot.
