Just back from a very muddy, icy run. Was hoping the mud would all be frozen solid, but it was just a bit crunchier than normal Grin

Spudlet · 31/01/2021 13:32

Meant to add this - it really was quite chilly!

DH has a bit of an upset stomach, which he thinks may have been caused by some two week old tomatoes that he ate for lunch yesterday. I’m fine and apart from the vintage veg we’ve eaten the same things, so the tomatoes are the chief suspects.

He’s just eaten a bacon sandwich though so hopefully he’s on the mend.

Proper snow happening now, settling in places! It’s like bits of frozen cloud...

sueelleker · 31/01/2021 14:16

Just turned my washing machine on, and it's started leaking all over the floor. We're just going to check behind it; if it's the plumbing we'll call Homeserve, if not we'll call the manufacturers warranty line.

MissConductUS · 31/01/2021 14:54

Sue, it's often a leak in the hoses that carry the water from the taps into the washer. They're pretty easy to replace.

Took the dog for a 6km walk. Got irritated because there where PEOPLE all over my footpath. How dare they.

Came home and had several kinds of carbohydrate and have found a documentary on Netflix about a College marching band. And the dog is fast asleep. Much less annoyed at the world. Grin

(The new flag waving girls are not allowed to wear makeup, have social media, talk to boys or be in certain parts of the campus. They seem remarkably cheerful about this.)

Spudlet · 31/01/2021 15:34

Everyone has gone for a walk except me. It’s wonderful Grin

HelenaJustina · 31/01/2021 15:42

We’ve been a walk, lasagnas are in the oven for a very late lunch as pastries and fruit kept everyone going. (Bar DC3 who is hangry and showing it!)

Champagneforeveryone · 31/01/2021 16:03

Excellent news about the pepper grinder prok Wink

Frownette · 31/01/2021 16:16

It's quiet here, raining lightly. My mother asked me earlier if I had a spare corkscrew and oddly enough I had cleared out a drawer and found two this week. One is designer and other standard. I'll sell the designer one, mum can have the other, it works better.

Don't know why she wants one though? She buys a bottle of red wine perhaps twice a year, can't think what else she'd want a corkscrew for.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/01/2021 16:22

Perhaps she is preparing for a future venture into the sun-sparkling outdoors and wants to furnish her hat with those dangly cork bits to scare aways insects?

dementedma · 31/01/2021 16:22

I have decided I'm going to paint the bathroom this month.

MissConductUS · 31/01/2021 17:45

Welcome, @dementedma, and thanks for your home decorating news. Have you decided on a colour?

I've started putting numbers into the tax software. DD will have to file for 2020. I took DS to the deli for lunch. I think I'll have a cupcake soon.

Redecorating would be nice - but our DIY shops are open to professionals only at the moment.

Should I bake a cake?

HelenaJustina · 31/01/2021 18:25

@Prokupatuscrakedatus Is the Pope Catholic? Wink

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/01/2021 18:30

@HelenaJustina
I've already started Grin

Sunbird24 · 31/01/2021 18:37

Glad to read it @Prokupatuscrakedatus! When is the answer to that question ever no?!

I’m doing an anti-aging face mask and watching Dancing on Ice.

forgetthehousework · 31/01/2021 18:52

We have eaten all the cupcakes. I would make more but have nothing to put in them, so I'm soaking sultanas in raspberry gin, they'll be ready ttomorrow. I think the reason we ate the last batch so quickly was because I used the raspberries from the gin as flavouring for them, after I'd bottled the gin. Look it's fruit right? That's healthy isn't it? (I have tried freezing the raspberries in the past, but after 3 months in the gin their alcohol content is so high they just don't freeze!)

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/01/2021 18:59

@forgetthehousework
That is a very sensible and logical decision.

forgetthehousework · 31/01/2021 19:05

@Prokupatuscrakedatus Wine Wink

Therainisback · 31/01/2021 20:05

I changed the bed today. The fitted sheet had a tear in it, not had it that long ( well a couple of years - is that long?) I debated putting it back on the bed with the tear near my feet (I'm short & sleep with my legs curled up) but DH pointed out that a)we're not that broke b) we have quite a lot of sheets & c) I'm becoming one of those mad old people who are happy to live in squalor. So the sheet went into the rag-bag.

Frownette · 31/01/2021 20:14

I'd love to see her go crocodile dundee Grin

I did speak to her after I posted and asked what for and she said "it's for a bottle of wine, silly".

She must be ramping it up during lockdown, she bought one three weeks ago. As long as she doesn't get a toyboy I shan't get worried.

HelenaJustina · 31/01/2021 20:36

Just to calm things down, I’m cleaning the kitchen while listening to The Archers omnibus.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/01/2021 20:38

The caks is ready - a simple one with chocolate chips.

dementedma · 31/01/2021 20:58

The flat we live in is ancient. The very small bathroom has wood panelling from floor to half way up, and then plaster wall. The wood panels( and ceiling) are currently white, and the walls turquoise. I'm just thinking of doing the wood bit. Was going to fo it white again to freshen it up but maybe it could take a colour? What do we think?
