Someone has posted a tiny bag of white powder through our letterbox!

Confused

Me and DH are freaking out a bit. At about 10pm we heard the letterbox go while we were watching TV but didn't immediately check it. We've just got up to head to bed and it's a tiny little ziplock bag (like 50p sized tiny) with white lumpy powder in it Hmm

We're going to have to call 111 in the morning arent we? Really freaked and going to struggle to sleep now!

What the actual fuck Confused

I would telephone 101 just in case. The dealer wont be back for such a small amount.

Years ago my lovely elderly neighbour was delivered a massive box of it! All in little bags. She didn't know what it was or what to do so her son told her to ring the police. She did and they took it away. The dealer never showed up for a massive box so would not for one bag.

Tbh, I don't think they'd fess up to a larger amount either - dealers are pretty risk averse when it comes to prison sentences.
lcdododo · 24/01/2021 10:00

If it's a bit crystally then it sounds like ket

PhilCornwall1 · 24/01/2021 10:02

@EBearhug

With that amount? Where she dealing? Lilliput?

Lilliput is part of Poole. South Coast port, affluent area - probably quite a market. Grin

A place full of Coke and..... Gazza
BigMamaFratelli · 24/01/2021 10:02

Oh and to all those saying whoever the drugs belong to is unlikely to knock and ask for it back- never underestimate the stupidity of criminals. I've seen more than a few burglary reports from people growing a house full of weed.

nevernotstruggling · 24/01/2021 10:02

Has anyone suggested you weigh it?

SpiderGwen · 24/01/2021 10:06

This thread has been hilarious.
OP, I’m glad it’s sorted now.

peak2021 · 24/01/2021 10:07

Hope the police remember to be socially distant and have face coverings, and OP you have done the right thing.

UmmWTF · 24/01/2021 10:08

@thewinterofdiscontent I wish it were otherwise but I've come to terms with it Grin

I'm now lowkey despairing at more instances of "the police won't bother to help they don't have the resources" - what else are they going to do, go "ah, don't worry love, keep it and crack on with yer ironing"?? Hmm

I'm not sure I live in the same world as some of you! This thread has been an eye opener and no mistake Grin

To be fair it could be ket or MDMA as suggested upthread, its been many a year since my own misspent youth and I was never overly wild to begin with... regardless, I'm glad the police will be taking it away so I don't have to think about it any more Smile

I must live in the same world as you OP. I don't personally know anyone who takes or has taken cocaine. Neither does student DD. Weed and ket are the drugs of choice round here and where she is at university.

There does seem to be a disproportionate number of mumsnetters who have taken, occasionally use or know people who have taken it. I just move in different circles.

CrochetToTheMoon · 24/01/2021 10:16

@ShirleyPhallus

Oh god this thread is premium mumsnet. Lots of terrible advice, pearl clutching, sweeping accusations about all sorts of people. Excellent.
I agree, i’m having a ball reading this on my teabreak!
CrochetToTheMoon · 24/01/2021 10:21

@IsAnybodyListening

I'll be honest. I don't mind a cheeky spliff now and again, but I draw the line at coke. That said, what with WFH, home schooling and all the other bollocks at the moment, if someone popped a little baggy through my letterbox I would be tempted to snort the lot and crack on with my ironing.
HAHAH! I’ll send you my basket too

Joyce at number 32 is obviously finding homeschooling challenging
She probably started withdrawal symptoms by now (if it's that kind of drug) Grin
wowfudge · 24/01/2021 10:23

My favourite post on this thread is the one advising the OP to wipe the bag clean of any fingerprints before handing it to the police.

mummytolittledragons · 24/01/2021 10:25

I would hate to be the person who dropped the white powder to the wrong house. Won't end well for them.

It won't be disproportionate, it will be completely realistic. You and your dd will definitely know people who take coke regularly, they just haven't told you.
Skipsurvey · 24/01/2021 10:28

dd went to university with someone who did cocaine and it was utterly shocking for her that he was - he has left now.

mumwon · 24/01/2021 10:32

(not having read through the whole of this)
I wonder if its some "kids" having a joke of winding up random respectable householders.

Your circles sound much more appealing. Sat off your face on horse tranquillisers losing all control of your bladder Grin

100% this

Annietheacrobat · 24/01/2021 10:34

I liked the suggestion to ask on the local Facebook group. We have one for our street- would definitely have livened the feed.

lcdododo · 24/01/2021 10:34

losing all control of your bladder

But that doesn't really happen does it with occasional use.

No, just happens with age.
Ginfordinner · 24/01/2021 10:41

It is something my friends and I discuss, and I can assure you that they haven't. There are pockets of society who have never taken drugs you know. My friends were shocked when I told them that I had tried weed in my younger days.

I know plenty of people who smoke weed or have done so, just not cocaine.

I would also guess that as I am older than most mumsnetters and so are my friends, when we were young cocaine was very expensive. It was called the Champagne drug due to the price. Hence smoking weed rather than doing cocaine. When the real cost of cocaine came down we were all past the age of irresponsibility. We are just old and boring and prefer to stick to legal drugs - alcohol, instead, but because we enjoy it, not to get drunk.

In spite of my user name I don't actually drink gin very often. I had two G & Ts last night - my first this year. I'm just boring Grin

I find it so depressing that cocaine is so normalised on mumsnet. DD says her friends can't afford cocaine. One of her house share friends smokes weed in the house, but doesn't do any other drugs.

CaptainMyCaptain · 24/01/2021 10:44

I agree with you @Ginfordinner. I definitely don't know anyone who uses cocaine although one of my neighbours (who I don't socialise with) is reputed to take it.
