I'm going to get handed my coat and escorted out of here but I'm going to say it anyway.
I do not get people's obsession with drinking!
I don't drink, I don't mind the taste (except ginEnvy), I just don't NEED it if you get me.
I dont particularly like feeling drunk but even just to have one or two drinks doesn't appeal to me...its calories that I don't need and it actually does nothing beneficial for the human body.
All I ever see people on here post is how after homeschooling they need Gin Envy..why? How's it going to help? Why do so many of you need to put a substance in your body in order to feel good? Why not smoke a blunt instead? Why alcohol?
Are you boring without it? Can't you have fun without a drink?

The least popular opinion ever

Drug addicts berate alcoholics

{Shocker}

Can we lift global lockdown and get juveniles back out doing....something.

Mammyloveswine · 22/01/2021 19:51

I love a glass of wine...I have fun without it... I'm actually cutting it out for a bit as starting a health kick after drinking too much and eating too much in 2020...

Hate these bloody judgey threads!

So enjoy life looking down on people enjoying a drink on a Friday night..in lockdown..homeschooling...

Welshgal85 · 22/01/2021 19:52

I don’t understand why it bothers you so much? What other people choose to do for pleasure and relaxation is up to them surely? It’s not really anything to do with you. Others enjoy to drink, you don’t, I don’t think it requires in depth analysis!

I enjoy going for walks with my friends, I also enjoy going to the pub with my friends. Surprisingly, I also enjoy participating in a team sport with my friends. Two of those activities are fun and do not involve alcohol.

MissingLinker · 22/01/2021 19:53

@Catwoman123

Not one of you drinkers have answered me though? Do you ever have fun without it?
The vast majority of people can have fun without drinking... I'm pretty sure you know that. There's a lot of things people do that I don't get any pleasure from myself but, for most things, I can still comprehend how others can.

Amazing, first time anyone has ever said this.
Well done here is your medal. 🏅

Catwoman123 · 22/01/2021 19:55

@snowisfallinghere I don't eat cake either ever so I fully agree.

I really can’t understand those people who need to have coffee every day. Especially people who go out to get coffee. I mean can’t you function without the drug?

Catwoman123 · 22/01/2021 19:58

I'm glad there's people who agree with me.

OP posts:
Jaypreen · 22/01/2021 19:58

Why not smoke a blunt instead? Why alcohol?

I wouldn't be surprised that smoking a "blunt" is worse for the body and soul than the odd G&T.

Er, anyway, I'm not sure what your point is OP?

santabetterwashhishands · 22/01/2021 19:59

I don't drink alcohol at all but I've never thought about others drinking because it's upto them 🤷‍♀️
It would be a boring world if we were all the same 🙃

WoahDudee · 22/01/2021 20:02

I don't drink and I too, don't get the obsession with alcohol. I think it tastes gross but also, each to their own. I have other vices and obsessions that other people wouldn't understand, like smoking and energy drinks. So no judgement from me.

JabbyMcJabface · 22/01/2021 20:03

@Catwoman123 I really wouldn’t worry about this if I were you. If you’re as sanctimonious about this in real life as you are on here I doubt any of your friends who enjoy the odd glass of wine will really enjoy hanging out with you anyway.

I’m really not sure what’s so wrong about having the odd glass of wine. And yes, some of us are able to limit what we have to a sensible level without it being a problem for us.

iklboo · 22/01/2021 20:04

I'm glad there's people who agree with me.

Why? Do you need the validation of others?

WoahDudee · 22/01/2021 20:04

Oh, and also, currently obsessed with creme eggs at the moment and I hear they are quite the opinion divider!

Catwoman123 · 22/01/2021 20:06

Actually weed had been shown to have a similar effect as alcohol.
However I don't smoke weed I just wondered why everyone is like sheep and obsessed with prosecco and gin all the time.
And by the way my friends love me and most of them are drinkers but thankfully not rhe type who post 'mummy needs gin' after having to look after their own child for 2 hours.

OP posts:
Catwoman123 · 22/01/2021 20:07

@iklboo no not validation im just glad that all is not lost and there's a few people put there who aren't brainwashed into thinking they NEED a drink to socialise or cope.

OP posts:
DartmoorDoughnut · 22/01/2021 20:08

@WoahDudee ooo I found a creme egg yesterday I’d hidden from the children last Easter 😂 totally going on the essential shopping list for tomorrow’s shop!

Oh and I’m going to join a zoom catch up in a bit with a glass of wine and think people who smoke weed are muppets but there we go we’re all different!

Notashandyta · 22/01/2021 20:08

This is blatantly a windup!

OP only replying when she can say something 'clever'.

Then continuing the windup.

Maybe you should take to drink if this is your idea of a good time on a friday eve

(Great cake analogy btw, shame op has refused to acknowledge eating cake could obviously have been replaced with anything people like to do and therefore highlights the stupidity of what shes saying)

Catwoman123 · 22/01/2021 20:08

@WoahDudee that is one vice I could get on board with Grin

OP posts:
LaceyBetty · 22/01/2021 20:08

You are very late to the eye roll party around the gin o'clock thing.

BikerWife · 22/01/2021 20:09

Isn't it just a saying that means you are stressed or fed up? Confused

I often say at work 'pass me the gin' or 'is it too early for gin'...

I hate the stuff, have never bought it and don't drink it! Certainly don't have it in my locker at work Grin

My colleagues make similar comments and I thought it was a jokey way of saying they are stressed and fed up, but maybe they are all actually raging alcoholics?!

hamstersarse · 22/01/2021 20:09

Every culture since the beginning of time has used substances that alter consciousness

It’s just a thing humans like doing.

Wouldn’t worry yourself with it, but part of my thinks you have never done drunk properly

handsandfeet · 22/01/2021 20:09

It's addictive
