What have you got planned for this weekend coming?

I am sooooo bored of trying to find stuff to do at the weekend. I'd happily watch TV and do nothing else but I know that, come Sunday night, I'd feel I should have tried to do more. The thing is at the moment, 'more' is usually chores. And I don't want to do chores at the weekend, not when I work 60 hours a week Monday - Friday and am on 'stand by' at weekends if a client gets in touch. I've also had enough of Zoom calls with friends and family - I'm on Zoom calls 75% of my work time. I want a break from my computer when I'm not working.

So I'm looking for ideas. What are you guys up to this coming weekend? Anything inspiring for me to blatantly copy? Thank you!

I'm going for a SD walk with a good freind. She's had a terrible shock this week and needs to offload.

SpudsandGravy · 20/01/2021 14:19

Maybe you should decide now to have a lazy weekend this time (so that you don't need to agonise about it any more), and plan something more active for next weekend :)

ParkheadParadise · 20/01/2021 14:19

Watch dd dance and sing around the living room
Open a bottle of wine
Ask DH what he wants for dinner(he won't know)
Order a takeaway
Drink more wine
Mutter the words I fucking hate lockdown
Dd will still be dancing and singing around the living room.
Go to bed
Repeat on Sunday.

IndieRo · 20/01/2021 14:20

Just walking, eating nice food and having a drink. DH and myself went for a two hour walk last Saturday in the late afternoon, it was unexpectedly long but lovely.

SendMeHome · 20/01/2021 14:22

There’s not much to do, really. Sometimes we do a board game. We try to cook nice meals at the weekend because it’s nice to eat them and gives the day a bit of an “event”, but we do both like cooking. There’s usually some sport that we both enjoy....

We were doing a lot of walks but we haven’t recently because the weather is miserable and it’s pretty manic here, and I don’t want to drive further away.

We don’t do many calls - the in-laws like a FaceTime once every weekend so they can see us but I also spend a lot of time on them at work so I avoid them as much as possible!

I’m reading a lot at the moment as it’s good escapism from always being in the same room.

Labobo · 20/01/2021 14:23

Bootcamp on zoom

Work on Saturday

Then we are taking it in turns in the family to do Come Dine With Me. Each of us cooks and offers an entertainment. DS1 started last night. I'll do one day this weekend, DS2 and DH next week. Just so there's something to look forward to, a surprise event. DC are entering into the spirit - not so sure about DH.

BiddyPop · 20/01/2021 14:27

2 zoom meetings (my Cub pack, and parents of new members of Cubs 🤣) so probably 50% more chaos than work VCs.

I have a scarf that I am knitting when I get to sit down - it's a very basic rib and short rows so no need to concentrate much or worry if I get interrupted.

I have a jigsaw from a neighbour on the kitchen table - we swop them along the street - this one is an old one (15-20 years, probably ex charity shop), and both not very clear printing and very dull similar colours to the pattern so very hard! I have another offer and another of my own I could do instead. Like knitting, is easy to do 1 thing and abandon for a while, or spend ages poring over it.

And I want to bake some proper yeast bread - exercise in kneading, stages to come back to during the day, and something nice (I hope) at the end of the process.

Cold weather expected so no chance of gardening yet.

saffire · 20/01/2021 14:29

Dd will be at her dads so I will probably not even get dressed all day. May not even get out of bed.

beela · 20/01/2021 14:36

I'm going to enforce a screen ban for at least part of the weekend (including my phone for me) and do lego or craft kits with the dc.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 20/01/2021 14:37

Looks like it will be cold but dry and sunny so guess for a change we'll go for a walk 😂

Hopefully play equipment will be dry so DD can burn some energy on the slides and swings while I watch, if not we'll take the scooter and choose a route with smooth paths.

Got a breadmaker yesterday so we'll test that out, maybe cinnamon buns for breakfast or pizza dough and then make our own pizzas.

Film if we can find any we haven't seen or want to watch again, some kind of crafty things and dressing/undressing DDs dolls for the umpteenth time.

BiddyPop · 20/01/2021 16:02

Oh I forgot, I also need to round up the stray mug, 2 hand towels, candle holder and DD duvet cover from Christmas and put them back into storage. So as I
Will be put, I will
Probably both empty the glass bottles at the bottle bank, and get logs for the fire.

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/01/2021 16:05

I'm visiting my daughter, I live alone so I'm allowed to be in a support bubble with her, I still only see her ever few weeks.

raspberrysundaes · 20/01/2021 16:05

We might get a takeaway - our local chippy has just launched a sharing box that looks amazing!

DH will go mountain biking as long as the weather clears up. It's also his turn to walk the dog which means I'll get a lie-in Grin

Otherwise, no plans whatsoever.

BiddyPop · 21/01/2021 09:15

I might actually also, as the weather is to be cold, have a long bath and do a proper body exfoliation/scrub, do my finger and toenails, put a deep conditioner in my hair, rub on some body cream stuff (my legs are a little dry) and maybe throw on a face mask while I relax on the bed with a book/Netflix. No need for the razor to emerge though, just the more "mind the body" type things - with the benefit being most of them need some time to soak in ...

lucysmam · 21/01/2021 09:23

I need to bake a birthday cake & decorate it. I want to start a new crochet project too but am determined to finish my current one first.

The girls will probably spend much of the weekend Minecrafting together, and online with their own friends too.

user1477249785 · 21/01/2021 09:27

We have done:

  • family quiz night
  • bake offs
  • fantasy holiday competition (set a budget and everyone has to plan a dream holiday within that budget then vote for the best)
  • games nights

Just some ideas.

Mydogisagentleman · 21/01/2021 09:53

Not much I shouldn’t think.
Working on Saturday into Sunday so I will be home by about 8, cook a nice breakfast and, depending on the weather probably take the dog for a walk to a local beach.

movingonup20 · 21/01/2021 10:01

Er nothing. Well we'll probably go to Lidl and majestic wine or brave Asda if I can be bothered to drive up there, or perhaps The Range. Only moved before Christmas and have a long list of (actually semi essential) things to buy.

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 21/01/2021 10:37

Try and keep quiet coz our sons on night shifts all weekend.
Have a lie in and cuddle husband.
Make some cakes and cheese straws for husband and sons lunchboxes.
Cook some nice meals, rather than standard weekday stuff.
Chop some kindling.
Walk dogs in country with husband rather than round village by myself.
FaceTime my parents.
Knitting.

Bubbles1st · 21/01/2021 10:47

It's my birthday Saturday.....

We have a gift voucher for a local deli so plan on heading there to buy something sumptuous we wouldn't usually eat and some lovey cheese cake to go with it.

I can hardly believe I am calling it a plan but otherwise birthday will just be spent watching tv, so trying to make a thing out of it!

idontlikealdi · 21/01/2021 10:49

Fuck all I would imagine.

The dog will be getting walked but it is an absolute quagmire around here and no fun for anyone including him.

Kids are threatening to cook dinner on Saturday.

ritzbiscuits · 21/01/2021 11:43

Aside from getting some time to clear out our loft (!), nicer things that I'm up to at the moment:

  • Yoga with Adriene and online ballet classes
  • Crochet, I've just ordered a yarn pack to make this gorgeous crochet blanket
  • Goodreads reading challenge - trying to read more fiction too and have a cracking book to finish
  • Future Learn course - Learning Programming skills for primary age children so I can teach my DS age 7 some coding
  • Board games - We are trying to spend an hour or two on a Sunday afternoon playing board games as a family and not having screen time. Take a look at Zatu Games, there are all sorts of really interesting games that aren't just the standard games you get in the shops. You could buy Pandemic (see if you can manage the Covid pandemic better than the government!)
  • Going for a walk on a Sunday morning
  • Going to bake a simple loaf cake tomorrow and we're cooking different curries on a Saturday night. Is there a type of food you like/usually enjoy at restaurants that you could buy a book and learn some dishes?
Woodlandbelle · 21/01/2021 11:49

A bit the same as you op. Nothing planned
But I am learning a language (slowly)
I baked a cake so might make something else.
Other ideas - get into a decent book. Long bath and fake ran session

Topsy44 · 21/01/2021 12:01

Going out for a walk Saturday morning then I won't feel so guilty that both me and my DD will have stayed in all weekend. Probably bake some kind of easy cake loaf. DD is learning to ride her bike so a bit more of that in the garden and then if weather is reasonablish will do a bit of light gardening. That will be interspersed with a lot of tv, mumsnet and minecraft and anything mindless my DD can watch on her tablet!

Serena1977 · 21/01/2021 12:10

Saturday morning will be swimming lessons for DC then one DC at a birthday party and other DC at football practice. Then dps are coming to baby sit while me and dh will go for pizza then theatre.

Sunday will have a lie in then a bike ride, then trip to shops to get birthday present for dh, then I'll go for a swim on my own while dh takes DC to see pils.

Ah wait shit fuckity fuck.

Zoom to speak to pils and dps, a walk, bake muffins, iron, a walk, Hoover round, a walk etc etc
