What have you got planned for this weekend coming?

I am sooooo bored of trying to find stuff to do at the weekend. I'd happily watch TV and do nothing else but I know that, come Sunday night, I'd feel I should have tried to do more. The thing is at the moment, 'more' is usually chores. And I don't want to do chores at the weekend, not when I work 60 hours a week Monday - Friday and am on 'stand by' at weekends if a client gets in touch. I've also had enough of Zoom calls with friends and family - I'm on Zoom calls 75% of my work time. I want a break from my computer when I'm not working.

So I'm looking for ideas. What are you guys up to this coming weekend? Anything inspiring for me to blatantly copy? Thank you!

It's my birthday on Friday but I'm working all day, nobody at work knows it's my birthday so at least I won't have to buy cakes.

At the weekend I'm going to the supermarket to do the shopping and then I'll take the dog for a walk somewhere and probably give him a bath afterwards if the amount of mud round here is anything to go by.

Stealth boast alert, I’ve got some stuff to take to the tip! Grin

Anyone else find that the more time they have to do less gets done.

Plussizejumpsuit · 21/01/2021 17:14

I know what you mean. I'm not really feeling refreshed or rested after a weekend or when I have time off.

Last weekend we got nice pastries from a cafe for breakfast. That was probably the highlight.

I don't know what to suggest. But I do know how you feel.

Yes, frequently.
Ughmaybenot · 21/01/2021 17:20

Riding two of my horses, walking my dog, watching films by the fire, generally appreciating what a great cuddler my husband is.
We’re having a tough time, entirely separate to the lockdown or whatever else, and he’s just the most incredible support.

EllaPaella · 21/01/2021 17:24

I have a tip trip booked too. Very exciting Grin
We will take the kids and the dog to the beach, I'll go for a run at some point.
Have a FaceTime chat with wine with friends on Saturday night and a walk with a friend on Sunday.
We're having a bit of work done around the house next week so I will prepping for that.
Just looking forward to not being at work or doing home school to be honest.

DrunkenKoala · 21/01/2021 17:33

Dye my hair.
Bake.
Housework.
Snow is forecast for Sunday morning so kids may play in garden.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 21/01/2021 17:45

A walk with DH. Maybe a bit of tidying in the garden if the weather is good. Family board games. Video call with our DD.

EvilPea · 21/01/2021 17:50

@soggyandwet

It much. I'm waiting for a bereavement call which nobody else in the house knows about so I'm not in the mood for going anywhere really.
Flowers I’m sorry. Flowers
chorusline79 · 21/01/2021 17:50

I'm going to get my sewing machine out this weekend and try and teach myself with the help of YouTube.
Watch a Star is Born on Prime
Reading - I have lots of new books

All of this is after the kids are in bed, when in reality I'll probably be too tired! Activity with kids will involve cycling/walking anything to wear them out.

ejecoms · 21/01/2021 17:53

I am going to change some lightbulbs and put up a new lampshade. I might even hang up some pictures.

MaverickDanger · 21/01/2021 17:56

Long walk, meal planning, food shopping & napping with our three week old.

speakout · 21/01/2021 18:00

Working.

Blacktothepink · 21/01/2021 18:11

Working 😩

SugarMiceInTheRain · 21/01/2021 18:20

I'm sick of Zoom too! May go for a run with a friend, get a takeaway, borrow DS2's disco light and have a kitchen disco on Saturday night with DD (6).
Sundays we usually play lots of board games as a family though have played so many in 2020 I have board game fatigue too!
I also have a lot of packing and sorting to do as we are moving house soon.

oohmyback · 21/01/2021 18:51

Wallpapering. Cleaning. Recording some online lessons. Long walk for daughter's d of e efforts. Play in park with youngest. Wave at my sister from her front path for her birthday while throwing chocolate at her so she can deal better with the stress of moving house in a pandemic!! Planning a programme for my rangers this term. Probably have a nap at some point...prob need one! Might get a takeaway too!

HeronLanyon · 22/01/2021 11:34

Exciting news. I have ordered a cleaning product so I can wash down my kitchen cupboards and skirtings etc ready for painting. I am actually looking forward to something other than walking cooking washing.

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 22/01/2021 17:38

I have an update. I decided I'm finally going to shorten the living room curtains. They've been dragging on the floor for years and I'm fed up with that. Livin' it large, an' all that...

PolarnOPirate · 22/01/2021 17:40

Walk with DS1, then DH out for a walk with his dad,
play in the garden hopefully,
DS and DH probably go roller blading,
pendulum art which I've been meaning to do with the kids for ages,
going to try and have a screen-free day for the kids on one of the days so probably will do endless kits/sticker books/train tracks/lego etc
might have a bath with a book if I can find time!

PolarnOPirate · 22/01/2021 17:42

Oh yes deffo takeaway. Also I finally remembered popcorn kernels in this week's tesco shop so might try and contain the kids for a movie.

TheMouZone · 22/01/2021 17:44

I've been using my friends Oculus Quest over the last couple of days. OMG its SO fun. Been playing Beat Sabre on it. I think I could get fit playing that game too! That should relieve the boredom for a while :)

Scarby9 · 22/01/2021 17:44

A leisurely bath
A socially distanced walk with a friend

PolarnOPirate · 22/01/2021 17:44

Also I need to cut the boys' hair but I know little one won't let me.

minipie · 22/01/2021 17:56

Not a clue tbh

DCs have zoom activities Sat am
Walk in a park somewhere, again...maybe roller blades or bikes for the DC
DH and I will try to fit in a run each
Roast lunch
I need to update my CV 😬
Print off next week’s home school stuff

DCs are 5 and 8 and the older one always has her own Very Important Things she needs to do so it’s hard to get everyone involved in a board game...might try though.

mamaduckbone · 22/01/2021 18:11

We've started getting dressed in smarter clothes on a Saturday night, making a nice meal and doing something as a family - board game, music, watch a film. It was ds15's idea as he got new clothes for Christmas and can't go out to wear them. I have to say I do look forward to it!
