Mine would be
(1) Philip Cairns, disappeared in 1986 from Dublin. He was 13

(2 )Trevor Deely, disappeared walking home from a Christmas party in 2000.

(3). Raonaid Murray murdered yards from her home. She was only 17.
Never been solved.

Not really. Whilst most people don’t believe there was an intruder, opinions are divided on which of the 3 family members it was.

In regard to the murder of JonBenet Ramsay some say the father did it and the mother covered it up. There was an interesting t.v. documentary about it. One of the things they did was go through the long rambling ransom note - very interesting.

I thought it was Burke, the little girl's brother. He knows more than he's letting on. Wonder when he will tell his story ? When his Dad is no longer alive ?

Jonbenet Ramsay
Nicola Payne
Madeleine McCann

TheSpottedZebra · 20/01/2021 19:55

Yy, Flamingosarentreal - whatever happened to Leah Croucher

A case that got almost zero publicity, was Hannah Deterville. A 15yo girl who went missing on her way to school IIRC - certainly she was walking down her street and then she was missing. Her mutilated body turned up in a nearby park. It was NW London.

I knew of her very remotely and it was so clear that her case got no attention, compared to another similar aged blonde girl who went missing and was also found murdered, whose case was constantly on the news. Yes, Hannah was black.

Another for Jonbenet. The CBS documentary clearly inferred Burke was to blame. Last I heard he was suing them. A very strange case. I dont think we will ever know the truth. The investigation was a cock up from start to finish. The clip on youtube of Patricia Ramsay denying her handwriting in that ridiculous random note is laughable.

Amy Bradley. Cruise ship disappearance.

Jennifer Keese. Her poor parents.

EileenGC · 20/01/2021 20:19

MH370

Madeleine McCann

Beaumont children

TheYearOfSmallThings · 20/01/2021 20:30

Mary Boyle
Trevor Deely
JoJo Dullard

In each case they disappeared into thin air.

GivingUpAllHope · 20/01/2021 20:37

Jonbenet Ramsey.
Madeleine McCann.
Jack The Ripper.

Did you listen to the Jennifer Knesset podcast? House of broken dreams it was called. Really sad and surely solvable.

In my previous comment I meant I didn't think it was a big mystery, as in, she clearly died at the hand of one or more of her own family. There is no mystery re an intruder/paedophile - that and the whole pageant thing was something the media latched onto when the parents faked the abduction.
ToffeeNotCoffee · 20/01/2021 21:15

OK, thanks.

Also, this:
At the time, the house was occupied by George Sodder, his wife Jennie, and nine of their ten children. During the fire, George, Jennie, and four of the nine children escaped. The bodies of the other five children have never been found. The Sodders believed for the rest of their lives that the five missing children survived.

So many!

In addition to those already listed because many of those I would also like to see solved, I’ll add to the list....

Amy Bradley - disappeared on a cruise ship. What did happen? Was that crew member involved? Was she trafficked?

Leah Peebles - watched her dad on Disappeared and my heart broke for what he saw and was told during his search for her.

Lee Boxell - Aged 15 left home on a Saturday afternoon to go to a football match and was never seen again.

So many more I could list....

Darklane · 20/01/2021 23:29

Ben Needham
The Manchester City centre bombers
Shergar

nahdenmardybum · 20/01/2021 23:38

Ben Needham

This was sort of solved in 2016. SY police suspected he died on the day he disappeared in 1991, on a building site, most likely an accident although we will probably never know. I don't think they found his body but found a little yellow car he was playing with.

BornInAThunderstorm · 21/01/2021 00:50

Yes a few posters have mentioned Leah Croucher, her disappearance has simply devastated her family and lead to her brother taking his own life yet I have seen so little coverage of the case. The family really deserve for it to be solved one way of the other. Flight Mh370 also because it would bring closure for so many families

The Hannah case- wow. I was living in West London at the time and had never heard of this case. It is awful. 20 years later you would think with DNA testing/technology they would get someone for it.

Love this thread

I'd love to know the Princes in the tower.

My other 2 are less well known

Alistair Wilson , he was shot on his own doorstep. Still no suspects.

Renee McRae and her 3 year old son . A guy got charged but their bodies have never been found. It's one of the UK's longest missing person's case.

PumpkinPieAlibi · 21/01/2021 03:32

MH 370
Dyatlov Pass

Amdone123 · 21/01/2021 03:48

@Pootle40...thanks,I will listen to that.

My heart goes out to all the family and friends of unsolved cases. It must be like being buried alive.

Soulstirring · 21/01/2021 03:54

Madeleine McCann
Cory McKeague
Claudia Lawrence - this one is more personal as I lived streets away at the time she went missing.

There are so many though

titan89 · 21/01/2021 04:04

Not solving, but general prosecution when there is 'almost enough to push it over the line*;:

  • West Memphis 3' Madeline McCann
  • Suzy Lamplugh'
titan89 · 21/01/2021 04:06

Cory McKeague isn't a mystery, god love him. they should have given more to the family to find him

titan89 · 21/01/2021 04:07

What happened Madeline?
