Malice-you can still get cucumber relish. Like cubits? Think we got some in either Tesco’s or Sainsbury’s

Marmite27 · 18/01/2021 07:52

Salt and vinegar and prawn cocktail quavers

TinkersRucksack · 18/01/2021 08:10

@Furries

A lipgloss in the 80’s. Not sure if it was a “big” brand.

It was in a glass-type tube with a roller-ball dispenser and it tasted like juicy fruit chewing gum. Nothing like the squeezy tubes of gloop that are around now. I blooming loved the stuff as a teen!

Was it Constance Carroll? One of those brands you could only buy in your local chemist....

I remember a red top and red swirls on the side of the little clear glass bottle

Fizbosshoes · 18/01/2021 08:14

@Marmite27
I literally just saw an ad for those flavour of quavers on fb.

Jobseeker19 · 18/01/2021 08:17

Gas fires from my childhood. (1990's-2000's)
I miss coming downstairs and sitting by the 'fire'.

HiveQueen · 18/01/2021 08:22

Castaway, it was a wine cooler or alcopop. You would mix it with diamond white to make a blastaway. This was my drink of choice when I first started going out out.

gettingusedtothelimelight · 18/01/2021 08:25

@BoneyEm1972
They were called Steakwiches if I remember correctly and they were bloody amazing weren't they!

CamdenLurker · 18/01/2021 08:32

Anyone remember Boomy ice lollies? It was a stick with an orange lemon and strawberry shaped ice lolly on it.

Also Fat Frog ice lollies?

gettingusedtothelimelight · 18/01/2021 08:38

@marmitecake

Genuine original recipe from a school cook!

Sorry about the state of it but it's been well used 😁

I’ve emailed farmfoods as they seem to do something similar (far too much time on my hands 😀)

reesewithoutaspoon · 18/01/2021 08:43

marks and spencers jacket potato and butter flavour crisps. loved them
Sainsburys cheddar and black pepper muffins. they changed the recipe and the new ones arent a patch on the old version.
Fresca grapefruit drink
Milky way when the centre was a chocolae moose not the white creamy stuff it is now
terrys chocolate lemons
ringos salt and vinegar crisps before they changed the recipe. they used to be smooth and were moorish, then they changed it to like a puffed chipstick type texture and it was never the same

sueelleker · 18/01/2021 08:44

@CentrifugalBumblePuppy

Oh, and St Ivel cheese triangles & baked bean flavour Piglets.
I don't know where they came from, but we used to have Swiss Knight assorted triangles sometimes. Fabulous flavours.
Thecherryontheverytop · 18/01/2021 08:47

A ready meal by sainsbury which had a quorn type chicken curry and some rice...sounds horrible and I don't do ready meals but this I randomly got one day after college and I loved it. I'm actually grateful they stopped making it as I had it every week and fuck knows how much shite was actually in it.

bellagogosdead · 18/01/2021 08:51

Tesco frozen fake bacon and sainsburys too, they were the same as far as I can tell.
I have been trying all the chilled ones around and they aren't very nice, they seem to go hard and cardboardy when cooked.Sad
M&s bubble and squeak rolls, these were brill, but they only seemed to sell them for a few months.
Yes to wanting cheese and eggs in my vegetarian food please, not fake cheese and 'veganaise'

CleanQueen123 · 18/01/2021 08:53

Tesco used to do a blueberry and sour cream muffin in their fresh bakery section. Hands down the best muffin I've ever eaten.

Their standard blueberry ones they do now just don't compare Sad

sueelleker · 18/01/2021 09:13

@WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants. Do you mean Vesta beef curry? You still see it around in some supermarkets and pound shops. I miss their Chicken Supreme and Beef Italienne.

Redrivershore · 18/01/2021 09:20

The British Corner Shop sells Vesta beef curry and probably some other hard to get things

Vesta beef chow mein was one of the few things I could eat during the nauseous stage of my first pregnancy. I loved it and always feel sad when I see vesta meals these days that this one is no longer available. If it was I would buy it for old times sake.
Fry’s five centres moving onto to sweet things I miss. They have brought out raspberry, strawberry and orange ones so I live in hope it will come back.

Blooming heck saw this after I posted and guess what they have got!! Also on googling it says Asda and Tesco have them but I have never seen them. Will check on my next shop and if not I am ordering from the British Corner Shop. Thanks @Redrivershore

@bellagogosdead Have you tried Sainsbury's newer own brand 'plant pioneers' smoky vacon rashers. They're the only thing I've liked since their 'old style' type. I'm not a meat replacement type of vegetarian usually but i love these. They can go a bit 'crispy' if you overdo it but otherwise just the right texture.
