Here we are again, gaining sequels even more rapidly than the Fast and the Furious...

A few anti lockdown protests going on in Europe according to the Daily Fail. I’m getting Freddie stickers for my car and flat windows and starting my own little fight back.

Dropping back in after a long lurk Grin
Had the best time running around our 1 mile away hillside today in the snow, only to come now the mountain to be faced with 3 police cars and a riot van.
We saw 3 other couples and 1 family of three plus seven goats on the whole mountain. 7 officers present for 4 cars legally parked on a derelict mountain ffs.

DH works in the local red ward and I work for the ambulance service so I'm glad they let us walk past them otherwise I think DH would have gone apeshit.

As we were leaving they pulled a solo teeanager and seemed to be giving him a good dressing down.

I work a lot with local bobbys and for the most part they are great, but today I was a bit disgusted.

justasking111 · 24/01/2021 22:17

@Lollyneenah they are going a bit mad here now. Locking up car parks on deserted hills in Snowdonia National Park, patrolling them during the day. I thought it might be because our figures are coming down so the government worries people may get complacent. To be fair where I live we were not complacent but the figures still rose under 100 a day in our county but you would have thought there were corpses lying in the streets listening to some folk.

justasking111 · 24/01/2021 22:39

The chief executive of our health board has criticised Denbighshire Council for sending around an e mail with a link to get a vaccine which was shared. Some staff have signed up for it. Oops...

DD sent me a video from her friend's hall of residence, they were partying in another block and police turned up, they tried to hide in people's rooms for a while but police weren't leaving, so they went outside and police told them to stand in a corner but then someone shouted "3-2-1 run!" And they all just ran back to their block and that was that! Covid passed through them in the first month of term and no one got it after that so probably minimal risk to just leaving them to it. DD has had so much interaction with the police since Covid, and we're usually pretty respectable! I'm not convinced it's good for police-community relations.

I love that the police were out smarted by the strategy of "peg it!!" Grin

I'm so tired today. I feel we haven't moved forward in a long time as a family. We can't afford childcare (yet), and due to lockdown nothing gets done around the house. My husband and I are so knackered. Friends without kids on furlough have been able to renovate and I feel like we've made a mistake as a family. I'm blaming myself and it's affecting my confidence.

ISaySteadyOn · 25/01/2021 08:12

Don't do that. You haven't done anything wrong. It's really hard having little ones in normal times let alone this one. You are doing well. Being knackered means you're putting the work in. FlowersCakeBrewWine

Felt very upset this morning to see that a local junior school have chosen this time to introduce a therapy dog, which is much needed I’m sure. It was featured on the regional news with the children who are “allowed” to be at school playing and interacting with the puppy. Then they showed a Zoom screen of the children at home saying hello to the puppy.
I know from posters here how much many children want to be in school, I think for mine at that age missing out on the puppy arriving and the excitement of being on TV would have been the last straw 😢

NastyBlouse · 25/01/2021 09:49

Oh @Evenstar that is really sad. Talk about representations of a divided society...

@Evenstar God, that would really upset my DS. Seeing other kids stroke and cuddle a puppy over bloody zoom.

That would be massively upsetting to my DD. I can't actually believe that the school have done that tbh. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I can only excuse it by thinking of the lead times for puppies and that this was all planned way before school closures. Still very bad of them to be showing off the kids in school with the dog to those stuck at home though.
mightbealittlebitmad · 25/01/2021 10:22

I'm really worried about the future now. Will schools ever reopen? If this lockdown continues until the summer I won't have a job, can't get a new one if I'm homeschooling 5 days a week and I'll likely be a single parent trying to pay for everything with just benefits.

I don't want to have to live like this.

starfish88 · 25/01/2021 10:25

That is incrediy insensitive! Who comes up with these initiatives?!?

I have just seen the stupid 'look them in the eye advert' and I'm so angry. So don't go to the shops, don't get deliveries. Stay home and starve. Well at least it would reduce covid deaths and they are the only ones that are sadly. Anyone else with a history of eating disorders find the policing around food and supermarkets incredibly triggering?

Sorry, I'm in a really ranty mood.

That's cruel. Utterly cruel! I am appalled.
flower11 · 25/01/2021 10:28

My school have posted some more learning videos on line. I'm not showing them to ds because they feature his best friend in school and I don't want him to be shown what he's missing out on and being upset. It's so unfair what they are doing to little kids .
My eldest asked why we couldn't go the moor this morning. I said because the government say so, her response but why ,me well that's a good question.
Dd can we go anyway? Me no because daddy wants to stick to the rules, and the police might tell us off.
Dd what for ? Looking very confused....

starfish88 · 25/01/2021 10:28

The 'insesitive' thing was about the puppy, just realise x posted.

CoffeeWithCheese · 25/01/2021 10:37

They can't go on like this - people are absolutely breaking now. Think they realise that? (I don't expect them to care - but they need enough of us sane to carry on and rebuild the economy)

FeelsLikeGroundhogDay · 25/01/2021 10:52

@starfish88 I got so annoyed by the look them in the eyes posters that I made my own, with my own children and how the last year had effected them. It's easy for people to go along with this when they arent seeing the harsh brutal reality! It's harder for them to look a child they know in the eyes and say I dont care. It actually got alot of engagement on my personal fb, got people talking and agreeing! That this is too much

Worldgonecrazy · 25/01/2021 11:11

DDs school have arranged separate zoom calls. There is a Monday call when the kids at home zoom with the kids at school. Then there is another one later in the week after home time when all the kids are on zoom. It’s not perfect but the ‘all on zoom’ call makes the kids who aren’t in school feel a bit less left out. Might be worth suggesting to your schools?

Lostinacloud · 25/01/2021 11:26

My year 5 niece has been sent some worksheets asking her to ‘circle the hyperbole’ this morning. Oh the fucking irony!! At least my Dsis can pick up any daily newspaper and show her many, many current real life examples.

Bollss · 25/01/2021 12:11

checking in. Feeling shite this morning, lack of sleep - poor ds still suffering from night terrors. Still hoping he will grow out of them.

Went for another sodding walk in the park yesterday but with our "bubble" ie my friends and their baby. Was nice.

I would say about 80% of families in the park had met up with another family. Well bloody good on them i say. The tide has turned, but people are keeping quiet about it because they dont want to be told on and fined.

After hearing the news re schools i am hugely relieved ds can still attend (Sorry not trying to be insensitive to everyone else who is struggling but we had an awful time last time at home) but i am appalled foir everyone else. Cant even guarentee after easter? so another what 3 months off this year, on top of most of last year? its just not good enough!

i heard a clip of boris on the radio saying he knows its not a substitue, and then saying they can go back when its safe - what like they were safe the DAY BEFORE he closed them? Wanker.

Taswama · 25/01/2021 12:48

Checking in too.
Love the idea of a Freddie Mercury poster as an AD secret symbol!

ISaySteadyOn · 25/01/2021 13:02

I am a terrible teacher. They hate doing anything I ask. And DD2 wants to be in school so badly.

I don't believe schools will ever reopen now.
