Here we are again, gaining sequels even more rapidly than the Fast and the Furious...

Its shit isn't it Loki how some people are so blinkered and narrow minded.

My clients often need to be taken out 2- 1 it's getting increasingly difficult. They need to get shopping, fags and get benefits from post office, don't have bank accounts.

Last week one was getting agitated and distressed and responding. All the post office lady cared about was he wasn't wearing a mask.

BogRollBOGOF · 24/01/2021 15:49

The St Bernards were out in our snowy woods. Reminds me of our dogs joyously gallumphing around in the snow doing rolly polys.

I had a good rolly poly down the hill, giggling as I fell off the sledge. Grin

Now behaving like a good MNer, defrosting the DCs in a hot bath with a well adorned "hot choc" (cream and marshmallows) and log burner going. Wink

I’ve just asked DD’s best friend’s mother if we can be a childcare bubble- this is clearly going to go on for months, and I need to do something so she sees someone other than me and DH in that time. I won’t be at all offended if she says know, but it’s got to be worth a try.

Go Loki! Hope she thinks twice about posting sanctimonious rubbish another time.

DrRamsesEmerson · 24/01/2021 15:53

DYAC - know should be no!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 24/01/2021 16:14

@DrRamsesEmerson doubt she will think twice, she deleted it, messaged me to call me a "drama llama cunt" (oh the irony) then once she could see I'd read it.....blocked me.

SirSamuelVimes · 24/01/2021 16:17

Definitely worth a go, I hope she says yes.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 24/01/2021 16:24

Fingers crossed your DDs friends mum says yes x

Iheartmysmart · 24/01/2021 16:30

Having stayed away from the papers most of the day, I just took a peek at the local rag. Apparently people out sledging and building snowmen have blood on their hands! They have been flocking, flouting and disobeying Saint Boris.

Looks like the infection rate is down to just over 30k which I think is the lowest for a while.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 24/01/2021 18:04

@ISaySteadyOn

Rule out or rule in? I think I know the answer but I live in hope
Sorry @ISaySteadyOn I meant to type "rule out". Could just be speculation... But they have committed to giving schools 2 weeks' notice of reopening, so the decision will need to be made soon.
Reedwarbler · 24/01/2021 18:49

Idle thoughts here. Perhaps we should put something in our front facing windows, like the rainbows which were so popular in April, but anti - lockdown. What should it say? Bugger Boris? We want freedom? All suggestions gratefully received!

permanentlyexhaustedpigeon · 24/01/2021 18:54

Go Loki!
Something that makes me really uneasy about all this is the cancellation of all dialogue that other things are a problem too.
I remember the anti-smoking adverts with a guy with lung cancer saying that he'd got this horrible (and it is truly horrible) disease from something entirely avoidable. The adverts were shocking and hard-hitting, and whether you thought they were excessive or not, at least what they were trying to stop people doing is something that is not essential to humans being humans. What really bugs me is that sort of shock tactic being applied to things like seeing your family, getting food and talking to people, which we've been doing since the dawn of time.
The "othering" of sick people is a worry, too. If we go down the "shame" route for people testing positive (cause those sick people probably picked it up from doing something deeply irresponsible like going to work, breathing or crossing the street), what's next?

DD had a snowball fight with the neighbours' kids today and I nearly cried (not like me at all). First time she's had face to face interaction with other kids, doing normal stuff that kids do, for months. I dare say we'll all be reported for that - back on Zoom with you, small pigeon!

MaudesMum · 24/01/2021 19:10

By 8.00 this morning all the children (and some of their parents) on my terrace were out throwing snowballs at each other - it was glorious! And the highlight of my local facebook page has been a long line of well spaced snowmen with their builders in between with a headline saying "social distancing at its finest", which 100s of people Liked, and no one commented that everyone should be indoors. And we're a very compliant town, normally. So, hurrah for snow. Everything else is fairly shit, though.

Iheartmysmart · 24/01/2021 19:12

I don’t know about anyone else but I feel completely lacking in any hope today. All I can see going forward is endless days of sitting at home in front of a laptop, day in, day out, for the foreseeable future with the occasional walk and trip to the supermarket to break it up.

@Reedwarbler is right, we need to start showing that we are not prepared to go on like this for much longer.

justasking111 · 24/01/2021 19:23

Our local police force said they would be out looking for areas, snowy hills around here and sending folk home for not obeying the rules.

A friend has a two relations in the police, there are grumbles in the force from the lower ranks about being heavy handed but orders from on high said no excuses, sit on infringements and hand out fines, no excuses. Now when the figures are falling are they tightening up.

DC had fun in the snow today.
Local groups on Facebook full of D comments but AD responses definitely out number the D agreeing that everyone daring to go out in the snow are killing swathes of people.

TooManyPlatesInMotion · 24/01/2021 19:53

I have been out and about in my local park most weekends, and today took DS out to meet his friend and his friend's mum. The boys spent hours messing around with snow, and we treated them to hot chocs with marshmallows. No sign of any police. Not seen any out at all in my bit of SE London (well, I have, but not patrolling parks, playgrounds, streets). I get the impression that the metropolitan police are pretty reluctant to enforce the rules of this lockdown. Even in the first one, their approach was very light touch, which was a relief.

MrsEWeatherwax · 24/01/2021 20:10

I feel so much better after my walk today. First time in months have hit my 10000 steps target on my Fitbit.
Pleased other parts of country enjoyed the snow. It was cold today but sunny, it has so lifted my mood. But I will be back to my miserable self tomorrow.

Worldgonecrazy · 24/01/2021 20:39

@LivinLaVidaLoki you are the awesomist person ever!! Go Loki!!

As predicted, phone call with DPs was depressing. He's really pissed off with life, & she's highly anxious & started crying. And that's after a week where they've both had phone calls/ zoom meetings with friends.

This isn't right.

TabbyStar · 24/01/2021 21:07

I remember the anti-smoking adverts with a guy with lung cancer saying that he'd got this horrible (and it is truly horrible) disease from something entirely avoidable.

An anti-smoking talk at school kicked off DD's anxiety for years that her dad was going to die young because he smoked, she used to get really distressed. Obviously they were trying to stop the kids from starting but I really don't think they thought through the impact on kids whose parents smoked. Same issue in relation to covid messages now.

Lostinacloud · 24/01/2021 21:25

How about a small cutout of Freddie Mercury as our symbol of anti-lockdown? It is with reference to his “I want to break free” song and should be subtle enough to avoid any neighbourhood D backlash Grin
It would be so cool to start seeing mini Freddie’s everywhere and know why.
