Checking in. Back later as needing a rest after another long boring walk Grin

I'm in a bloody mood today, fed up with everyone and everything. My kids are doing my nut in and yes I do love them but I also don't want to hear them squabble endlessly and the flat is a tip! I enjoyed some of the other threads here but have just unmatched the good news thread as there seems to be a lot of negativity creeping in there too - I particularly dislike the fact that whenever someone pops in with good news about someone they love getting the vaccine they are told off! Today I just want to sleep until it's all over (and if someone can tidy my flat for me too that would be amazing!!). Sorry for being a Debbie Downer, I am sure I will be better soon just wanted to vent xxx

Definition of AD
^AD stands for anti dementor.
There are creatures in Harry Potter called dementors, who suck all hope and happiness from you and eventually take your soul. Way back at the start of the pandemic thread after thread was posted on by posters like this and anyone who'd dare question anything or disagree with anything (like putting cheese in your coffee) was bullied off these threads. And so any actual discussion disappeared and it became an echo chamber of misery.

We are the antidote to that. We follow the rules, but not the "roolz" and we question and discuss with respect to each other. It's all very civil.^

Checking in. Love the new thread title.

Reedwarbler · 17/01/2021 13:17

Love the title, especially as I actually have a pampered poodle (who is just about to get a bath as she can't go to the groomers atm).

We're rearranging the DCs rooms today. It's the first time I have felt like singing in months.

NastyBlouse · 17/01/2021 13:22

Checking in.

I’m making a risotto for lunch and it’s the highlight of my weekend...

justasking111 · 17/01/2021 13:33

Just had a sausage sandwich, sausages from local uber posh farm shop, they were bloody lovely. Sausages lately no matter which supermarket I go to are just bleugh.

Wishfulthinking1977 · 17/01/2021 13:34

Checking in! Need some sanity as dh is now better but can't be released into the wild until Tuesday! It can't come soon enough! Won't be covid that kills him it will be me!! 😂😂

MrsEWeatherwax · 17/01/2021 13:41

Checking in. I’m slightly worried about my DP’s going shopping tomorrow. Especially as Sainsbury’s are enforcing the one adult per shop, DF did say they would separate and rejoin in shop. It’s ridiculous that a now frail 80 plus can’t have her DH with her.

AcornAutumn · 17/01/2021 13:42

Hello!

wishful glad your DH is better.

MrsEWeatherwax · 17/01/2021 13:45

I wonder what slogan they will be using once the Grannies are vaccinated, don’t visit Grandma she might give you a bit of a cold, it’s doesn’t have the same sinister ring.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 17/01/2021 13:47

@MrsEWeatherwax that's sad. Isn't there some kind of dispensation for older and/or vulnerable adults that they are allowed to have someone with them as a carer? I hope that they are able to shop together tomorrow without any bother. @Wishfulthinking1977 glad your husband is better and Tuesday can't come soon enough for both of you, hey?!

DrRamsesEmerson · 17/01/2021 13:49

Checking in! Cooked pot roast pheasant for lunch (excellent local butcher happened to have some).

I think lockdown is doomed once everyone over 70 has been vaccinated. People are being careful and law abiding because they don't want to give it to someone who might die or be really ill: once those people are protected, what's the argument for keeping apart?

Hopefully the supermarket won't be insane

I've yet to be told off for helping mum.

MrsEWeatherwax · 17/01/2021 13:57

@smallandimperfectlyformed there wasn’t the last time. DF was told if DM can’t do shopping then she should stay home. They were told off last week, DF was furious. They have been visiting that supermarket the same day together for nearly 20 years. I know it’s a silly thing to be annoyed about, what with people dying. But I am annoyed.

I take one of my DD with me because her mental health is going down the toilet and getting out of the house is helping. I just park the furthest away and let her go first and I wait 5 minutes. Then we ignore each other in shop. It’s like being on a secret mission Blush

Checking in!

dingit · 17/01/2021 14:04

Dh wanted to know what I was reading about. I told him the one adult per trolley rule, so he would need his own trolley. We are now imagining what he would fill it with Grin

justasking111 · 17/01/2021 14:04

Old friends the wife had alzheimers, but still wanted to go shopping to be honest she could not be left home alone anyway. So her OH would go round the shop with her making sure she did not get lost nor buy daft stuff. How do couples like that cope. Our local co-op in a retirement zone still allow couples for this reason.

bakingcupcakes · 17/01/2021 14:30

There were big queues when I went shopping today. It reminded me a bit of April which was such a happy thought.

I'm a bit bored. I could clean my house (it's filthy) but I'm trying to save it as something to do tomorrow when DS is home-schooling. It's a really sad state of affairs.

NeedWineNow · 17/01/2021 14:46

Checking in and catching up. Been sorting my wardrobe and am very pleased to find 3 pairs of jeans that I can now get into thanks to Slimming WorldGrin

Recycledblonde · 17/01/2021 14:48

Does anyone detect a tiny hint of optimism in the news today? The headlines aren't brilliant but when you actually read the articles they hint at restrictions being lifted. I felt awful yesterday, it took until 7pm to find the motivation to have a shower and wash my hair but I'm feeling a bit better today after reading the positive bits.

Business as usual for those of us buying alcohol for 16-17 year olds! Grin

I would complain to the store manager about that. It's discrimination, saying "if you're not healthy or mobile enough to shop alone, get out of the shop". It's really appalling.
