If name changing were as easy in real life as on MN? I can't decide myself but my dd chose Avery. What would you choose and why?

Sarah, Jane, Rachel, Grace, Lucy, Emily.....almost anything than the awful name that I’ve got that in England no-one under 80 has, is never going to make a come back, nobody ever gets first time when I say it, it ugly and can be abbreviated to even uglier.

I hate my name, always have. Never actually thought of changing it though it even what else I'd like to be known by. God only knows what my parents we're thinking when they named me. Dh name isn't much better, could count on one hand the number of times I've called him his real namein the whole I've known him.

Kate is excellent. I know so many great Kates and I like calling them by their name! Oddly, I knew a number of irritating Katies at school but know so many fab Kates as an adult... did all the annoying Katies grow up to become great Kates??

Oh, no, I'm trying to work out your name now. Years ago, I worked with a really attractive, glamorous young...Thelma. It was such an unlikely name for her.

I know someone who changed her name to Kate.

Given she originally had a name that has never been suggested on MN baby boards it was a good decision.

I'd be a January. Same initial, and my birthday is in January so it might actually work in real life... maybe I'll do it, life needs some excitement these days Grin

@CandyLeBonBon correct, just a different spelling. I hate it
