Random poll: are you getting dressed / wearing make up every day still?

I’m in pjs, during the week I may put on a sports bra and joggers instead, but that’s about it. I’m washing my hair twice a week and I am wearing make up once a month maybe?

I feel like pants though! I was probably considered high maintenance before - I would fake tan, had eyelash extensions, own a dyson airwrap type person.

But I’m just feeling like, ‘meh, what’s the point?’ I only live with Ds so no partner to inflict this on. But what are the rest of you doing?! Do I need to make more effort?!

Shower and clean day clothes every day. I never bother with make up though. It really irritates my skin.
I wash my clothes regularly too.

Howshouldibehave · 16/01/2021 14:50

Shower, dressed and minimal make up every morning. I think I’d start to feel depressed if I didn’t get dressed.

Disorganisedfish · 16/01/2021 14:50

Hmmmm. I’m showering every other day after a run..... my past self would be horrified at me I suspect. I think I’ve gone too far the other way but my mojo is zero right nowBlush

Shower, dressed and minimal make up every morning. I think I’d start to feel depressed if I didn’t get dressed.
I’m wondering if this has happened to me. There feels like very little point at the mo, but my old regime seems pointless too!

I’m on anti anxiety medication which has zapped me a bit too.

I'm the same as normal except have bought slouchy trousers. But I never wore make up or 'styled' my hair anyway.

I guess if you were high maintenance there's more to get rid of? You must be saving time and money at least.

EyeDrops · 16/01/2021 14:54

It doesn't have to be the whole hog routine. It's all about how you feel. Some days I can't be bothered but I do feel more upbeat and positive when I've taken a little time to do makeup and make myself look nicer!

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 16/01/2021 14:55

I am the same as before yes. I do wear make up every day, get dressed and do my hair. But I wasn't high maintenance before so its not a lot of effort.

Caramelblonde · 16/01/2021 14:56

I've got really bad with hair washing.Used to style every day.Last night it was so bad I decided to wash it and bath at 2am.Had put clean bedding on so was just wrong to get in bed with greasy hair!Don't see the point of dressing today though!

Cheeseandlobster · 16/01/2021 14:56

Pj's every day here too unless I have a meeting or need to go to the supermarket, then I will apply make up but not foundation. Full make up for office days. I do a Hiit work out every day and shower after that.

bellagogosdead · 16/01/2021 14:58

I have the odd pyjama day, but no more than a year ago.
But I never went as far as you anyway, a spot of bb cream, concealer, mascara and lip gloss. Hairbrushed and pinned up out of my face, jeans and jumper.
The aim is to be presentable for the corner shop or the DPD guy.Smile

Disorganisedfish · 16/01/2021 14:59

Right.... I’m going in the shower now.... I think mine is really linked to my mental health, which is why I needed a reality check.

And yes! Saving a fortune - it seems really decadent to put on double wear to sit on my sofa?!

This might be my new goal. Presentable for the delivery man! What a time to be alive eh?! Lol!

Thanks everyone - I’m going in the shower now in an attempt to get back on the wagon (because I lied before, it’s been 3 days no shower so far..... )

Always a shower every morning. Aim for dressed, make up on and hair styled at the very least.
I had my eyelashes and eyebrows done just before lockdown 3 so that makes things a bit simpler make up wise.

Not getting dressed kind of makes me feel like I'm ill or something, same as eating in my nightwear. get the Heinz Cream of Tomato soup and the laptray out next. Grin

SpeckledyHen · 16/01/2021 15:07

Never changed my routine of shower , hair wash , makeup every morning regardless , including lipstick and perfume.
Wearing leggings though for the first time since having pre-schoolers 20 years ago .
I couldn’t stand being unkept and I feel happier being respectable .

Good God yes but I am on zoom and wfh. Morning routine unchanged. Shower, work frock, tights, hair, make-up. But my maintenance routine has only ever been foundation, blusher, mascara, lipstick and a 6 or 7 minute blow dry or curling brush. Oh and a squirt of perfume. Psychologically I cannot work in slippers so bought a pair of clogs.

PurpleDaisies · 16/01/2021 15:08

Dressed yes. Make up no. Hair is variable in wildness/cleanness.

Sparklingbrook · 16/01/2021 15:09

I have family Facetime/Whatsapp every week. Huge effort made for that. Grin I have got my eye on one of those ring lights. Blush

yahyahs22 · 16/01/2021 15:11

Dressed around midday but I don't wear makeup any way so no to that. I have an 8 month old and a furloughed partner so we kinda just get dressed for our walk or whatever.

yahyahs22 · 16/01/2021 15:12

Oh and shower every day (my respite!)

bingowingsmcgee · 16/01/2021 15:17

I'm getting dressed, certainly. Only managing makeup about 50% of the time but it makes me feel better when I do it.

Frownette · 16/01/2021 15:17

Ah, I was until I had to isolate a few days this week and it felt so liberating not having to wear a mask I took an interest in grooming again.

480Widdio · 16/01/2021 15:18

Shower every morning and clean clothes.Perfume.

Makeup if going to be doing zoom meetings,I don’t wear much anyway.

I could not sit in my dressing gown, even if I didn’t walk my dog twice each day.

choli · 16/01/2021 15:18

WFH but shower and get dressed every day. I find makeup isn't compatible with masks though, and anyway I only go out for walks and the supermarket.
Getting dressed and going out for one short walk in daylight and a much longer walk in the evening makes a big difference to me.

LegoAndLolDolls · 16/01/2021 15:18

I have got worse since the new year. I do have a school run still to do but I dont wear make now as I figured my mask covers most of my face. I had covid over new year and not washing as much as I should now either due to lack of smell, low mood and feeling tired in the morning.

I'm going to get back on track for Monday but I totally sympathise with the "what's the point?" Feeling.

Trouble is if it becomes the new norm. Wash every day and do your make up once a week even it's only for you to see. It will lift your mood and keep reminding you of the high maintenance you, so you can get get back to normal ( one day!).
