I’m in pjs, during the week I may put on a sports bra and joggers instead, but that’s about it. I’m washing my hair twice a week and I am wearing make up once a month maybe?

I feel like pants though! I was probably considered high maintenance before - I would fake tan, had eyelash extensions, own a dyson airwrap type person.

But I’m just feeling like, ‘meh, what’s the point?’ I only live with Ds so no partner to inflict this on. But what are the rest of you doing?! Do I need to make more effort?!

I don’t have children to look after so the structure of my day has changed as much wfh. I do the same morning routine as when I was going to work and wear the same type of clothes. I like it because it means I really feel I’ve left work when I change into really comfortable clothes. At first I even was wearing proper shoes on the basis that I wore them all day at work- I’m now in something comfortable.

The thing I have let go and would like to restart is wearing earrings. Most of work before Covid was face to face with clients, now almost all on a phone helpline so with a headset on and earrings just don’t work for me. I’m going to really make an effort after this thread at least at weekends.

At home I always wear comfy clothes so tracksuit bottoms or leggings and comfy tops. But yes I always get dressed every day, otherwise I'd be walking around naked because I never wear pyjamas, don't even have any.
I never ever wear makeup so that doesn't apply to me

Disorganisedfish · 16/01/2021 16:11

I just came downstairs and Ds said “wow, you look beautiful. And you smell nice!”

So now I feel like a million dollars and that I should make the effort more often Blush

If I was reading this thread about anyone but myself I would get all girl powery and say you get dressed up for yourself! You deserve the nice make up and to wear nice clothes. Why is it so hard to treat ourselves the way we would advise others to treat themselves?

Hmmm, going to get wine now. I feel like it’s a special occasion! Haha!

I’m not wearing work clothes but am fully dressed. I am getting more wears out of things though eg my jeans yesterday had a small mark on but I still wore them instead of washing as no-one could see them on a Teams call.
I rarely wore make up so I’m not, but I’m showering/washing hair as normal-ish (sometimes going an extra day in between hair washing).

iMatter · 16/01/2021 16:19

Exercise, shower & wash hair, get dressed (proper waistband essential!), bit of make up, blow dry hair.

That slippery slope to slobdom is never far away from me!

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 16/01/2021 16:21

I've never worn make-up in my life, but I shower including washing my hair every morning and get dressed in thermals, jeans, t shirt, jumper atm because its cold. If not working I help my 3 kids with homeschooling (youngest needs a lit of support) and go for a long walk with my eldest - teen who likes to walk - and a shorter separate walk with my younger two, including sledging atm. I cook for the family in the evening, they get their own sandwich and fruit lunches.

I'm still working outside the home in healthcare - shift work, some weeks 60+ hours, some weeks 4 days off. Dh and the kids are all home all the time but everyone gets dressed in proper clothes before the school/ work day starts at 8am Monday to Friday, perhaps a bit later at weekends.

We never had to make a rule sbout it; it was a obvious to the teens snd preteen as the parents that you get dressed when you get up...

CarlottaValdez · 16/01/2021 16:25

I feel like I can’t sleep properly if I haven’t been dressed and been out the house. It’s pretty minimal effort though!

Maireas · 16/01/2021 16:46

A headteacher told me that she'd done zoom interviews for a teaching post, and one candidate had wet hair and was wearing a vest top!

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 16/01/2021 16:50

No . I’m not getting dressed unless I need to go out . I do bathe most days probably 5/7 and brush my teeth everyday

Juanbablo · 16/01/2021 16:52

I'm at work in the week now. I do and did usually get washed and dressed in the morning though because it makes me feel a lot better, in a mental health sense. Not always make up though.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 16/01/2021 16:58

If I'm at home, I'm in my pyjamas. That's been the case since I was a child so it's not a recent lockdown thing. I do change my PJs most days and my undies daily, I clean my teeth every day and have a shower 2 - 4 times a week so I'm not scruffy, I'm just comfy.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 16/01/2021 17:03

Shower and get dressed every morning. I’ve definitely descended into loungewear, though, and I don’t bother with makeup any more.

I’ve gone from washing my hair every other day to every third day, but I think it gets less grotty because I’m not commuting, so it looks OK.

yearinyearout · 16/01/2021 17:17

I have to get dressed to take ddog out. Some days I come back and shower then get straight in my PJs if I'm not going back out.

marriednotdead · 16/01/2021 17:25

I'm living your way minus the teams calls. Couldn't do all day in PJs unless I was really ill. I usual wear minimal make up anyway but can count on one hand how many times I've put mascara on since March. Mind you I dialled into an optional business update the other day and saw a couple of our directors without makeup Shock
MandosHatHair · 16/01/2021 17:41

I shower every day but I have reduced washing my hair to every other day. If I am going to the supermarket (exiting!) I wear jeans but otherwise I exclusively wear activewear. I do wear minimal makeup most days, my skin seems to prefer the change to part time makeup.

I haven't touched my hair straighteners in ages though, my hair is thrown into a ponytail most days. That's something I would like to change, I do look much neater with styled hair and less like Ms Trunchbull Grin

BlowDryRat · 16/01/2021 22:12

I shower and wash my hair every day but wear pyjamas/yoga pants all the time and don't use makeup unless I'm going to visit MIL (bubble). I do wear gym clothes for zoom fitness classes though.

user1471538283 · 17/01/2021 08:43

Unless I am really sick I always shower every day even if it takes a long time (like when I hurt my foot) because it really helps keep my mental health well. I have started having a bubble bath with a face sheet at least once a week as well which is soothing and warming. I wear yoga pants, tops, cardigans, boots or pumps during the day and always a little bit of blusher and some lipstick, perfume and earrings. I wear my favourite perfume! Occasionally I'll put jeans on if I can be arsed and I'm going somewhere. I change into proper pyjamas for bed.

Dontbetardy · 17/01/2021 08:50

Showered and hair washed everyday. I’ve not bothered with make up though. I did buy some nice body lotion as a treat.

I am not wearing jeans or anything smart. I bought leggings, oversized hoodies, harems and jumpers type style.

Whenwillow · 17/01/2021 08:56

Up, shower, wash hair, dressed, face moisturiser on daily, followed by breakfast and multi vitamin tablet. No make up, but that's normal for me unless I need to dress to impress. I work hard at keeping my routines going as it is essential to keep my mood stable.
I'm still working outside my home part time, but I do it on my days off as well.

hopeishere · 17/01/2021 09:00

Shower and wash hair everyday
Sometimes style hair
Sometimes wear make up but no foundation just liquid liner and mascara and a powder
Dressed every day. I cannot get my head around people staying in pyjamas all day unless they're I'll or a child.

MrsJBaptiste · 17/01/2021 09:05

Shower, dressed and minimal make up on work days. I've only ever washed my hair every 4 days anyway (curly hair)

Then nice clothes and full make up on the weekends with a change into 'going out' clothes on Saturday nights so I can dance around the kitchen drinking cocktails 🍸

HazeyJaneII · 17/01/2021 09:06

Shower/bath every day
Dressed everyday
Make up everyday
Hair done (getting cut today)

I feel crap if I don't get dressed (unless ill) and although I'm pretty far from high maintenance, I feel better being all put together with make up etc.

moomin11 · 17/01/2021 09:12

This is a great thread and I'm glad you feel better OP. My routine hasn't changed, I'm on video calls all week though otherwise it would be tempting to do without makeup and straightening my hair. Shower every day and wash hair every day though without fail, I feel rubbish otherwise. And yes to wearing a perfume that you love every day - makes me feel happy Grin

dementedma · 17/01/2021 09:46

Make up only for work zoom calls. Havent worn a bra in months. Mostly wear pjs all day.
Bath daily to get warm as house is freezing.

Whenwillow · 17/01/2021 09:51

I've just read the full thread and it's lovely Flowers
I'm glad you're feeling better @Disorganisedfish
