Random poll: are you getting dressed / wearing make up every day still?

I’m in pjs, during the week I may put on a sports bra and joggers instead, but that’s about it. I’m washing my hair twice a week and I am wearing make up once a month maybe?

I feel like pants though! I was probably considered high maintenance before - I would fake tan, had eyelash extensions, own a dyson airwrap type person.

But I’m just feeling like, ‘meh, what’s the point?’ I only live with Ds so no partner to inflict this on. But what are the rest of you doing?! Do I need to make more effort?!

I never wore make up anyway but yes I get dressed every day it’s usually just tracksuit bottoms and a jumper of some variety for teams calls.
I’ve only ever washed my hair every other day but still shower every day

stealthninjamum · 16/01/2021 15:20

I’m fairly low maintenance anyway (I rarely have nails/ eyebrows done) but always make an effort to wear makeup (concealer, lipstick and sometimes eyeliner or eye shadow). I also wear a dress every day because I have a bit of a covid belly so I probably do look smart. When I lose the weight I might start wearing jeans again but I quite like my dc seeing me look good and in control even though inside I’m probably quite anxious and sometimes lonely.

Camomila · 16/01/2021 15:20

I get dressed everyday (spend all day on zoom)
Sometimes put on tinted lip balm and mascara if I have time.

I put on a nice dress and boots to go to Asda today as it felt like a day out tbh Grin

I'm the opposite. I never used to wear make up when I went to work. I do now though as I see myself on screen all day - plus I have more time to do it.

NobbyButtons · 16/01/2021 15:27

Unless I'm ill I hate not being dressed so usually have a shower and then put my contact lenses in straight after getting up. No make-up though (that's not new).

FinallyFluid · 16/01/2021 15:30

Shower and hair washed every day.

Jeans on every day until about 6.00pm, then sloggies.

I put my jeans on everyday because I don't want any nasty surprises when it is time to rejoin the real world. Grin

lubeybooby · 16/01/2021 15:30

clean comfy clothes, daily shower, but I've worn make up twice in the last year (have a whole desk full of make up but just not interested)

FinallyFluid · 16/01/2021 15:31

Oh and spray of perfume.

notacooldad · 16/01/2021 15:31

I slipped into the " lounge wear" style (scruffy jog bottoms that I don't know why i bought them in the first llace) for a while. Then it became not washing my hair as much, then other beauty routines stopped.
Soon I became more and more lethargic.
I have now made a point of getting up, showering and a putting on a stay at home make up and wearing nicer relaxing clothes on.
I always put perfume on.
It really has turned my mood around.

MsConstrue · 16/01/2021 15:34

I get up and shower every morning. I wash and brush my hair daily. I cleanse and moisturise. And I put earrings in. If I didn't do that, I'd feel really scuzzy.

But I no longer automatically put make up on unless I'm on zoom. So today I've been out for a dog walk and to the shop but am make up free.

I also generally only wear sports gear, on and off zoom. (in lockdown 1 I think I did get dressed in normal clothes most days).

I don't always blow dry my hair now, which was unheard of in lockdown 1.

But I am clean and I'm not wearing the same things I sleep in! So that's a win in my book.

Disorganisedfish · 16/01/2021 15:37

Right, you lot have given me a kick up the bum (and the shower helped!)

I’m going to buy some bralette thingies, and 2 loungewear outfits that are suitable for the delivery man (I’m thinking slouchy jumper and jegging type things?) I’m going to have a shower every day, and NOT wear my slippers. My slippers are lush, but appear to be my symbol of hopelessness Grin

Hair washed every other day, and make up I’m thinking just concealer and mascara might be a compromise? Oh! And yes! Perfume! I’m going to buy a cheapie that makes me feel good but doesn’t feel wasteful to use in the house.

I needed this kick up the bum, thank you!

Shower maybe 5 days out of 7? Never brush hair (curly girl method). Clean clothes every day but those clothes are -loungewear- pyjamas. Makeup if I have a zoom call or I've started feeling like a goblin or I'm going out to the supermarket.

Haven't worn a bra in months and I love it, don't think I'll go back now.

Skincare routine every day, only thing I've not changed at all!

notacooldad · 16/01/2021 15:39

Nooooo!
Don't by a cheapie because you think it is wasteful. That's a step backwards.
Wear a perfume you love!!!

Disorganisedfish · 16/01/2021 15:39

And yes! Earrings! I would feel naked if i went for a run before without studs in, now my holes have practically closed up!

The person who said it’s slipped gradually and made them feel more lethargic, that’s exactly it. I never knew I was so lazy Blush

Dressed, yes. Make up - not unless I'm going to be on a video call.

Yes, showered, make up - hair brushed and presentable as every other day. I would be in a seriously bad place if I didn't. The normal routines of making beds, doing the laundry, cleaning the kitchen and then getting on with my day is very reassuring the comforting.

I follow the same weekly routine as much as possible too, and try to make weekends 'special' even if we can't go out. We eat in the dining room, play music, light candles, play games on Fridays and Saturdays etc.

whoamongstus · 16/01/2021 15:41

Oh and I do my own gel nails and eyebrows at home anyway so I'm still doing those! I'm happier in comfies though - I'm the kind of person who takes their Outside Clothes off as soon as I walk through the door for leggings and a giant old band hoodie.

notacooldad · 16/01/2021 15:41

I've lived having the time to experiment with make up and watching YouTube tutorials for different looks.
I've really upped my game recently.
I've bought olaplex and been spending ages trying different styles.
Its been fun!

HappyFlamingo · 16/01/2021 15:42

Same as before, which for me means getting dressed and showered every day but no make up.

Lettertoyou · 16/01/2021 15:43

I feel rubbish if I don’t get dressed and put some make up on. Even if I’m not going out.

LBunz · 16/01/2021 15:44

Showered and clean clothes every day but they’re slobby clean clothes. No make up because I thought 1) it’s a waste when it’s only me and DP and 2) my skin will thank my. My skin has never been worse and every time I look on the mirror I think urgh what a state so maybe going back to a normal morning routine and make up would help my self esteem a bit more.

Plus we have a very hairy dog now and I’m constantly feeling like a tramp due to being covered in hair no matter how much we brush the fucker and hoover the house Hmm Grin

Regularsizedrudy · 16/01/2021 15:50

I pay a lot of money for makeup and I’ll be damned if I’m going to waste it on 4 walls! What’s the point?

TheCap · 16/01/2021 15:52

Dressed every day. Make up most days (about 80 percent of the time). Hair washed every other day as usual. WFH three days a week so definitely made up for that.

Wolfff · 16/01/2021 15:55

Get dressed but mainly in case the Amazon/Hermes/DPD man calls. I have a teams camera meeting once a week or sometimes more and wear make up and brush my hair. More to disguise wrinkles and bags more than enhancing beauty though!
