What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

Mine is the chase! Come 5pm I'm sat on my sofa. Ffs. I was devastated tonight time slipped by and I only caught the last 15 minutes.

What has happened to my life!

FreeButtonBee · 16/01/2021 22:40

Went to butchers this morning at 9.55 thinking I might avoid the queue. Was wrong and then realised I’d forgotten my phone. So I stood in the rain for 15 mins with nothing to do. I quite enjoyed it.

That tells you how exciting my life currently is!

Lifeinaonesie · 16/01/2021 22:41

New baker Ross catalogue to let DD flick through and then purchas another million pounds worth of foam stickers to see her through another few weeks inside.

TheDogsMother · 16/01/2021 22:42

As you know bin collections are complex over the Christmas period. I've embraced being absolutely on top of the revised days and making sure the various bins are out on the right days for us and our next door neighbours. Feeling a sense of satisfaction and a little bit of civic pride.

Passthecake30 · 16/01/2021 22:42

I took dd to the optician today, they were running late and I got to watch the reception desk in action from my little santised pod in the waiting room. We were out for 2.5 hours in total as needed to choose new frames too.. , I was exhausted after that and needed a nap after!

LemonDrizzles · 16/01/2021 22:50

We ran out of milk and bread in between food deliveries and I had to do a shop. This was probably one of the bigger events of the week

whereisthejoy · 16/01/2021 23:05

My DH a has been pissed off all day about the fittings in the plasterboard in order to put a massive mirror up. He practically bounded into the bedroom earlier (bear in mind this was about half an hour ago) excitedly declaring he's figured out he can fix it by adding an extra hook (or something).

We moved house a couple of months ago so we have had a serious amount of boring shit to get excited about. We get a delivery almost every day Grin

Chimeraforce · 16/01/2021 23:09

My highlight 🤣 is watching wanted down under and going for a walk after I finish wfh

Cherrysoup · 16/01/2021 23:23

After a week of working at home and being on crutches (old injury flaring up), I was able to walk round Sainsbury’s today and took loads of plastic bags to recycle. Winning!

Blibbyblobby · 16/01/2021 23:28

I'm really chuffed with my cable management under my desk. It's taken since March to get it just right. I may never leave the house again, nothing in the outside world can be as perfect as my cables.

Howsrainbows · 16/01/2021 23:35

I've planned to pick up a click and collect parcel on monday, I'm so excited to go into the outside world for a walk to pick it up.

Tonight my husband offered to pick it up for me when he finished work on monday to save me the bother...he rescinded his offer and backed out of the room pretty quickly when I started crying at the fact he was 'trying to take my walk off me'

Only a guy that gets to leave the house 5 days a week for work would even think it reasonable to deprive a furloughed woman of her walk.

InsufferableLKIA · 17/01/2021 08:05

DD got a really big bran flake in her own-brand Fruit and Fibre.

Seriously it was massive.

Hollybutnoivy · 17/01/2021 08:12

DS16 is going back to school in Tuesday (not in the UK and he has been at home since November). I am ridiculously excited about being the only person in the house for a few hours!

HelloCanYouHearMe · 17/01/2021 08:38

Today DS and I are washing the car

Angliski · 17/01/2021 10:08

We have a one year old so exciting shit happens all the time. Like the bay drinking water from the cats bowl. Anytime you open the dishwasher he makes a run for it- which generates a lot of excitement. Also it’s his birthday Tuesday so we are planning a little party schedule including- wait for it...

Food and a walk!! Maybe some songs! Presents etc

We’ve been renovating and watching our studio get errrcted in the garden. The workmen go down the side so we never get into contact- both adults and children have taken to banging on the window excitedly when we see them!

Angliski · 17/01/2021 10:10

Also, I have quite a serious eBay addiction. There are many parcels and occasionally I sell something too! The thrills! Last week a pair of juicy couture jogging bottoms with a diamente trim went for £52! I was staggered.

TheNoodlesIncident · 17/01/2021 10:12

@Lincs90

The postman gave us a parcel which was meant for a different local road. It was hidden in a bundle of our parcels. This meant baby and I had to go on a mission to return it to its rightful owners.
I had this too. The address was partially obscured as the left margin was too narrow, so there was the excitement of peeling the window frame away slightly to see it properly. DH was going to get the car out as the address was on the other side of our small town, but I was "Don't you dare, it's MY job" and set out like it was an Arctic expedition.

Been buzzing about it since. Hoping for the postie to make another mistake!

MrsFezziwig · 17/01/2021 10:57

@BloggersBlog totally agree that this should be in Classics @MNHQ.

As well as being a piece of social history, I think it’s a very uplifting reminder of the power of the human spirit to make the best of things even if the threads moaning about people buying a takeaway coffee or walking with a friend are much greater in number

Sparklingbrook · 17/01/2021 11:00

I started a thread about it but this is usually quite fun to watch (in normal times) but now it's just relaxing and a little bit boring.

I feel conflicted about the street lamp. If I had known it was going to be replaced with an all singing/dancing 2021 version I may not have emailed the council. If I see the neighbours who live with it now I'll innocently ask what they think. Grin

MrsFezziwig · 17/01/2021 11:04

Forgot my own. Every time a plane comes over (which at the moment is hardly ever) I look it up on my Flightradar app and run out into the garden to watch it go over. The day a freight carrier going from Frankfurt to Cincinnati went by I thought I would die from the excitement.

Oh I love that app!

I went down a You Tube worm hole the other day watching women pilots land and take off an Airbus from various airports. It was very interesting TBF. Grin

LawnFever · 17/01/2021 11:10

The other morning I went as usual to open the patio doors for the dog, we’ve got a kind of porch at the back of the house & there was a fox curled up asleep on the chair in the porch Shock It was chucking it down with rain & he’d obviously found a dry cozy spot to snooze!

He jumped up pretty damn quick and ran off, it was seriously the most interesting thing that’s happened to me in months Grin

ReceptionTA · 17/01/2021 11:19

Seeing a child from my class in the car park outside Boots. I started jumping up and down and waving and yelling helloooo! Blush Usually I would have hidden.

Scarby9 · 17/01/2021 11:19

All the greats...
Bake Off
Sewing Bee
And now Pottery Throwdown.

It's pathetic how much excitement and anticipation I feel about sitting on my own in front of the TV at 8pm.

Also, the first takeaway Flat white back in August was HEAVEN.

Accidentally seeing someone I know while out walking and stopping for a brief distanced chat can leave me smiling for ages too.

LaBellina · 17/01/2021 11:22

Receiving the new catalogue from Museum Selection.
Going for a walk around the neighbourhood.
Eating a chocolate donut.
