What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

This thread seriously is hilarious - a nominations for Classics @MNHQ

Grin Grin

I keep changing my mind with which post is the funniest - but the tree one and writing down the day when it is being cut down, to then go back and others have too - just brilliant

Feeding the birds, buying more food for the birds, seeing bullfinches in our garden for the first time.

Plussizejumpsuit · 16/01/2021 18:44

I moved a chair into the corner of the living room.

There's just the two of us in a mid terrace. So twe only really sit on a sofa together. Thought to myself ooh that provides a bit more guest seating as it can get a bit tight with guests. Then remembered no one is coming over for the foreseeable!

I had a abnormal smear test so had to go to hospital for a biopsy. Highlight of my week that legs in the air chatting to three other people . Felt like I was out out !!!!

Plussizejumpsuit · 16/01/2021 18:51

@Sparklingbrook

I reported a streetlight was out about 2 months ago. They fixed it last week, saw them in the cherry picker which was very exciting-I felt I had done my neighbourhood duty. The new one is soooo bright-they have replaced the old one with something very modern. I am glad it's not outside my house. Grin
This made me laugh. Our street is really dark. Every time I go out in the dark I wonder what the council were thinking. But I'm very reluctant to ask them to improve the lighting as I can just imagine loads of rediculously bright lights. The main bedrooms tend to be on the frint too so I'd feel bad for neighbours if I was the one who got the bright lights installed.

DH and I got excited about a new kettle, hand mixer and tefal pots and pans we ordered from Argos. I then got super excited collecting them from the shop door due to COVID restrictions.

QueenPawPaws · 16/01/2021 19:34

I'm shielding and needed about £10 worth of food (bread, salad, cold meats)
Obvs can't get it delivered, and the "helpful neighbourhood" group is now a 5g/anti vax group Hmm
I took a risk and drove to a brand new Lidl near me late at night to assess how busy it was. Only to find there was ONE person in the shop AND a drive through costa had opened Shock

First time food shopping since March Grin I had the place to myself at one point and then got a costa afterwards

letsgomaths · 16/01/2021 19:36

I was more stupidly excited than usual when it came to my favourite part of our Christmas present wrapping ritual: listening to my DH wrapping my presents. I'm allowed to stay in the room while he does it, on condition that I'm blindfolded.

And I've just had a January helping of this, while my DH wrapped my Valentine's present, so I'm doubly happy!

Crimblecrumble1990 · 16/01/2021 20:10

I'm on maternity leave and so go on walks come rain or shine for a bit of sanity.

I've got one of those umbrellas where you push a button and the whole thing pops out. Magical. It's so satisfying, I like to wait until someone is approaching so they can be wow'ed too.

CoronaIsWatching · 16/01/2021 20:12

I'm the opposite, I'm starting to get nervous and anxious when I have to leave my flat for anything even popping to the shop next door Sad

Ace1185 · 16/01/2021 20:21

My sons two pet garden snails have laid eggs and I'm far more excited about it than I should be Grin

DenisetheMenace · 16/01/2021 20:23

There was a code on our cereal box last week. I logged on and won a £15 voucher. So excited, thought it was £15 off my shop.
Nope, had to go to some crappy home wares site and spend at least £60 on shite I didn’t need in order to claim it.

DH won the lottery at Christmas: a lucky dip ☹️

Also, I was on a walk on a lonely rainy day, when approached a woman, with a MAGICAL UMBRELLA! Up it popped, in one smooth movement. She barely moved her hand. It must have been most satisfying to wield such an implement. And she seemed quite dry.

That umbrella has been the talk of our house for weeks now. We've ordered our own, but there has been a delay in shipping. That wait has been the 2nd most exciting thing of our lockdown- the delicious anticipation! But the wait!

hauntedvagina · 16/01/2021 21:13

I stumbled upon an episode of Peppa Pig I hadn't seen before.

Phillipa12 · 16/01/2021 21:24

The delivery and plumbing in of my new washing machine. The young handsome delivery men were utterly charming when they could see my sheer excitement.......

Plussizejumpsuit · 16/01/2021 21:38

I don't know if this shows what has happened to my life but I think most of these things sound exciting! Definitely a sign of the time. But they are making me laugh.

Also on unseen pepper pig. I'm not even a parent but have 2 young nieces and I think I've seen every sodding one. So I can imagine the excitement at seeing a rare new one!

Tesco deliveries.

IDKNABYBIF22 · 16/01/2021 21:42

Walking to the shop for toothpaste the other day. I'd already been for one walk, so almost seemed like a treat [blush.]

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 16/01/2021 21:52

I was excited to go to the dentist this week. Finally got the fillings I was due to get in March last year
strange times when going to get your teeth drilled is exciting!

screamingchild · 16/01/2021 22:22

My chocolate topic bars from Amazon arrived today... I needed to top up my order for free delivery. So happy when they arrived

Taswama · 16/01/2021 22:24

I got a work laptop a few weeks into lockdown when my own one broke. The guy from our IT department offered to deliver it. I said no thanks as I was so looking forward to having a reason to leave the house (and have time off home schooling).

LaMarschallin · 16/01/2021 22:29

billydilly

After carefully preparing their chosen rock, my clownfish have laid eggs; I can see tiny fry within each egg sac. This would be a thrilling event at any time but during lockdown it's utterly overwhelming.

That sounds truly wonderful!

Any chance of a photo (or six)?

Foghead · 16/01/2021 22:36

We saw a new cat in our garden yesterday. Ds saw it first and excitedly called everyone.
It clocked us watching it so jumped over the fence and ran away.
Dcs are so looking forward to it visiting again.

wishywashywoowoo70 · 16/01/2021 22:38

Yesterday was shopping day.

I got up, showered put a face of make-up on including mascara which I hardly ever wear.

Put actual jeans on instead of leggings and boots with a little heel.

Went to home bargains.
Asda & Farm foods
Saw someone from work in a car park and I was so happy to see someone else I practically sang my way around farm foods.

First time is gone further than my drive since Monday. Good times 👍
