What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

Friday is the most exciting day of the week round here because it is both bins day AND veg box day.

ancientgran · 17/01/2021 11:57

Towards the end of the first lockdown a local fish and chip shop started doing deliveries. I was so excited and they were the best fish and chips I have ever tasted.

In lockdown #1, near the 1.5 month, I asked my dh to take me to Lidl.
I just wanted to see the bright colours and people.

@InsufferableLKIA

DD got a really big bran flake in her own-brand Fruit and Fibre.

Seriously it was massive.

This is the best one yet! It's the kind of high level excitement we dream of in our house.
TheNoodlesIncident · 17/01/2021 14:08

@Gottaloveacardie DS usually has Krave for breakfast, sometimes the machine hasn't separated the little cushions properly and you get a couple or a few stuck together in a line.

Recently he found a string of FOUR, it didn't even fit in the spoon but projected off the end. My word!

I had to sit down.

I'm actually laughing to myself about this!! Amazing

Going to the tip

Darklingthrush · 17/01/2021 14:49

In the first lockdown our upstairs neighbours had a plumbing disaster and water came into our flat. Normally it would have been really annoying but it meant we got a bit of excitement and we had to have the builders around for some emergency repairs!
@BloggersBlog totally agree that this should be in Classics @MNHQ.

As well as being a piece of social history, I think it’s a very uplifting reminder of the power of the human spirit to make the best of things even if the threads moaning about people buying a takeaway coffee or walking with a friend are much greater in number
Well it seems a bit out of order to nominate my own thread for classics. But is do agree @MNHQ Grin

But as I hoped when I started it people have way funnier replies than mine. You all made me laugh while dealing with thrush and a sinus infection. So thanks.

I do also agree that it's a bit of social history. As are various posts on here. But hopefully a bit less filled with conflict than some.

I got a “well done” from DS’s teacher for helping with his English [preens]. It may well be my proudest moment ever...

I got so far down through the laundry basket this morning I can see school uniforms (dc isolating from 4th December.)

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 17/01/2021 16:25

I went to home bargains earlier. I felt rather rebellious. I bought shampoo, cleaning stuff, and home eschool supplies.

Edgeoftheledge · 17/01/2021 16:26

Going food shopping, post office and chemist. Also, daily walk

MsRinky · 17/01/2021 17:04

It's my birthday today, and I have done not one but three exciting things!

First, the park in town has moved a flock of sheep in. We walked to the park. We looked at the sheep. We tutted at a woman who let her feral child chase a sheep, and were delighted to find that when we got within earshot, someone was already bollocking her mightily.

Then my friends from the next town over contrived an essential visit to the bike shop near my house so that they could leave my present on the doorstep and then chat for 20 minutes from the pavement in the freezing cold. I love them.

Thirdly, my DH had chocolate and wine delivered by robot. I tracked the little lovely all the way here, and was jumping up and down with excitement when it trundled up the drive.

I'm not going to say it was my best birthday ever, but it's been pretty good!

Cocolapew · 17/01/2021 17:09

I got a cheapy smart watch from Amazon yesterday. I'm boring eveyone rigid with updates on my blood pressure, oxygen saturation and heart rate. I can't wait for DH to come home to tell him about my sleep pattern.

amicissimma · 17/01/2021 17:32

In about May the Gas Board rang to make an appointment to have the boiler serviced. I assumed they'd stopped routine stuff. The excitment when a real, actual human being came into the house was almost overwhelming.

I think he liked my boiler because he spent ages cleaning all its little places. I stayed away from him in (cos Covid) but I knew he was there.

@Sparklingbrook, I don't think you need worry about the streetlamp. I have a new 21st century one right outside my bedroom window. It's very bright underneath it, but somehow not at bedroom level.

Taswama · 17/01/2021 18:37

Happy birthday @MsRinky

Curlygirl06 · 17/01/2021 18:44

I reorganized all the fridge magnets and tidied up the bits of paper and tradesman cards etc into sections on the fridge. Took me ages.

What?? Where are you that this is a thing? I need to know more! Do robots get mugged for their chocolate?

LunaNorth · 17/01/2021 19:19
@LunaNorth which Bissel did you get and is it worth it??

This is great. Getting the bins sorted is currently a big thing in the house.
I thought the excitement of making an appointment for a slot at the dump would cause combustion of DH's head 🤣
This one, and yes, definitely!

Food waste bins Grin
I won't be so excited once we've started using it and it smells Hmm

OhTheTastyNuts · 17/01/2021 19:28

I bought a Scholl battery operated foot file and have been really looking forward to sanding the dry skin off my heels! I did it today as a weekend treat. My heels feel lovely!

MsRinky · 17/01/2021 19:42

We have these little chaps in Milton Keynes, think they are in Northampton as well. Adorable, deliver takeaways and from supermarkets. They cant be opened without a code, I don’t think they get mugged although I have seen reports of a few getting stuck in floodwater. www.starship.xyz/
