What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

That three anecdote is way too exciting - I've just been excited to find I hadn't finished my coffee!

However, I found that exciting pre-lockdowns too.

Tree not three

I was glad to be called up for a routine mammogram, it was only when I got the results this week that I realised it had been exciting just to get out of the house and I hadn’t thought about the reason. All clear anyway.

Got a call from the Vets to pick up prescription. Imagine my excitement when I realised I could combine it with a trip to Aldi.
I was quite giddy as I waved goodbye to DH on my way out.

Lol, these are brilliant 🤣

On DS’s school Zoom meetings the teacher gets them to do a “silent cheer”- they’re all on mute, but they dance about and wave their arms for whatever they’re celebrating. Yesterday she said “let’s have a silent cheer because it’s Friday!” and all the parents leaned in and cheered like crazy, it was great

Dunno why we cheered, there’s fuck all to do at the weekend, but it marked another week passing 🤣

My vets is next door to B&M. Had to take Sparklingcat for a check up but she wouldn't let me go in.

We have had any post for ages as postman ill so I'm going to the sorting office to collect it. I'm really excited imagining what letters we will have probably all bills

My friend is vulnerable so every three weeks I go to M & S to do some additional food shopping for her. She always says “you’re sure it’s not too much trouble?”

During lockdown 1 on one of our walks, DH and I saw a tree that had been earmarked for felling. It had a note on it to say which day this was due to happen. We made a note of the day and then went back to inspect the stump ( we were hoping to catch the loppers in the act, but it turns out that was too much to hope for.) Funniest thing was passing another couple on the way back who said "oo, have you come to look at the tree as well?"

Don't know why, but this just about sums it up 😁😁

My flu jab

It has become apparent that our small round dining table (bought when DH was single) is not big enough for us and DS. I am ridiculously excited about searching gumtree and FB marketplace and then going to pick them up.

I reported a streetlight was out about 2 months ago. They fixed it last week, saw them in the cherry picker which was very exciting-I felt I had done my neighbourhood duty. The new one is soooo bright-they have replaced the old one with something very modern. I am glad it's not outside my house.

I remembered to put the bin out, even though it is on a different day to normal while the bin service get themselves sorted after Christmas. Bonus excitement: They even emptied the bin even though it was too full and the lid didn't close and didn't leave any reprimanding stickers or leaflets.

I am glad it's not outside my house.

I squeegeed the stair carpet, and made everyone come and look at the ball of dirtfluff and took a picture of it.

I did this today. But did make anyone look. Damn it!

After carefully preparing their chosen rock, my clownfish have laid eggs; I can see tiny fry within each egg sac. This would be a thrilling event at any time but during lockdown it's utterly overwhelming.

This is great. Getting the bins sorted is currently a big thing in the house.
I thought the excitement of making an appointment for a slot at the dump would cause combustion of DH's head 🤣

We have a new* hoover. When we hoover, we wonder at just how much grot / dust/ cat hair we've got up.
Amazing AND fun.

I just got some insulated ones on ebay.

Only 'exciting' thing that happened today is that after 6 hours of asking one of my dc to finish their schoolwork they finally did although I think the fact that I removed their phone was the convincing factor that I meant business .

A local sweet shop set up deliveries again ...and I'm getting jelly vampire teeth 🤣

I have a hospital appointment next week following birth injuries (20 months ago) and some nerve tests need carrying out which I imagine won't be much fun... However it's been that long since I went out alone I'm looking forward to both the drive to and from as well as the appointment... I may feel differently when it's underway

Going to the dentist

The day I was allowed out after dd picked up Covid at school. Ooh it was so exciting to catch a bus and buy an overpriced coffee at Costa.

My oven broke in lockdown #1. The excitement that the men were actually willing to carry up my new oven to my flat and put it in. The old one is now a hamster table.
