What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

@Tigresswoods

Next week we get to give the cat her monthly flea tablet. It's literally the only thing on the calendar in January.
😂😂😂😂😂😂

Love all these posts.

Another vote from me for this thread to go in 'Mumsnet Classics'

I am going to be using the carpet washer on my stairs today. 😀

custardbear · 19/01/2021 06:50

I've really started enjoying gardening, indoor plants and I've also bought a new bike and loving finding nee routes around my area with a biking friend

My DH and I make sure we give each other time to get out and exercise alone to get some time to ourselves.

On the other hand we have to almost prize the kids out the house lol - they love homeschooling but really enjoyed going back to school in September, it's nice though that they're settled ok at home, as I'm realising other people are having bigger problems with their children's MH 😞

Doing a big online spend on toiletries.

Sparklingbrook · 19/01/2021 06:53

I saw yesterday that Mrs Hinch (sorry!) was getting an online order from Poundland. I might have to have a look...

SpeckledyHen · 19/01/2021 07:08

I’ve got into mashed potato 🥔 this lockdown, never really cooked it much before. All the cookery programs rave on about buttery creamy mash so I’ve got a potato ricer on click & collect today with my grocery shop . I can’t wait to get peeling tonight :)

Poundland? Poundland deliver now?

Well that knocks today's plans to dust my desk (even the funny hard to reach bit behind the PC monitor) into a cocked hat, quite frankly.

I've got to take a parcel to the post office today and there's a take away coffee shop next door. I'm excited about getting a takeaway coffee!

LizDiz · 19/01/2021 07:19

We had to wait 10 days for an online shop, the excitement when Tesco turned up was palpable in this house. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 19/01/2021 07:19

I really needed to find this thread. It's the first time I've smiled since Xmas

My own very exciting news? Erm i allowed myself to go £10 over budget (I know I know made of money) on my food shop delivery with some wine & chocolate.

Sparklingbrook · 19/01/2021 07:22

Yes the online pound shop is pound shop.com.
I am going to be browsing that later. 😀

In lockdown #1, when walking out with smallest DC, we found a huge dead rat by the side of the road. She was naturally thrilled by this, and when we got home, she asked me to draw a 'treasure map' to the dead rat, so her older brother could find it.
We then went out in the afternoon for our dead rat treasure hunt. Eldest DC was also thrilled at the discovery.

I may have shared a picture of the map with my colleagues, who were suitably repelled impressed

Today, at 6:58 I was waiting outside (in the driving rain) my big Sainsbury's. Daren't go at a reasonable time, I'd need to take a 4yo and 7mo.

There was one person (older gentleman) in front of me. We had a lovely, socially distanced conversation about the terrible weather, and how we'd predicted this, when waiting in a queue in the lovely warm weather in the 1st lockdown.

Then, I found deep roast peanut butter, baby porridge without milk AND the the hazelnut milk was half price.

Lastly, the nice staff even opened up a checkout for me, so I had a chat to the operator too.

Came home by 7:45, feeling all refreshed!

Booked and paid for the council to come and take some bulky items from our garden. They arrived less than 24 hours from me booking and my garden doesn't look like Steptoe's Yard anymore

Orangesandlemons82 · 19/01/2021 10:06

I have had a call from my GP to say they can change my overdue coil on Thursday. I think I will be out of the house for at least an hour! Plus a nurse always assists so there will be two different people to talk to!

drspouse · 19/01/2021 10:38

Got my click and collect notification through from Sainsbury's which is a walking distance, that's my lunchtime outing planned! Tipping it down but I have a good podcast. Might get some raisins from the weigh it out shop as well. We know how to live here.

This is beyond amazing! I'm actually laughing out loud at this. I love your dc's idea.

I have a friend who lives in one of the Scottish Islands. There's a massive dead whale on the beech. She has sent me multiple photos to show the progress of its decomposition. With her in it for scale. I think it's a sperm whale so it is really impressive.

Amazing what we find entertaining right now!

Won't take long I'm afraid. A big cough and it's out! 😆
LookToTreblesGoingTreblesGone · 19/01/2021 11:33

I went for a mammogram 2 weeks ago which I've had a letter about saying it failed and could I come again.
So I'm off out tomorrow for another boob squishing. Well....it's a trip out and someone different to chat to!

Hoppinggreen · 19/01/2021 11:53

NorthernChinchilla my cats brought a rat into the kitchen one day last week (sadly/thankfully) deceased
I’m not squeamish so I disposed of it but my neighbourhood Facebook group were very entertained by this and much discussion was had about what they might do in a similar situation and where the rat may have come from

Plussizejumpsuit · 19/01/2021 12:23

I got 2 packages from a very wet postie. One was 5 sets of thrush pessaries. I'm bloody sick of paying a tenner each. So I stocked up for £3.50 each from an online pharmacy. Don't worry I did check them out on the mhra website!

Also very excitingly. Two storage baskets I orders from Ali express for my new year organisation came very quickly! So I'm looking forward to doing the sorting they are recepiticals for!

Such excitement!
