What boring shit have you been excited about in lockdown?

I have a sinus infection and have antibiotics for it. I always get thrush despite trying probiotics and yakault. Anyway so I'm going to have to go out to buy a thrush treatment.

I'm just thinking to myself I'm actually excited to leave the house and buy a thrush treatment. Just wondering what really sad stuff other people have got excited about in lockdown which might otherwise be mundane.

@brunetteonthebus

I had to go and drop my child's book bag at her school so they can quarantine the books for a few days, put new ones in and we can collect them later this week.

Two trips out! TWO I TELL YOU!

No one likes a show off @brunetteonthebus Envy
brunetteonthebus · 18/01/2021 13:08

Sorry @BloggersBlog , I'll stop showing off now.

Although I might take biscuits next time Grin

Grin gotta take our fun where we can at the moment! What biscuits though? A trip to M and S for their chocolatey rounds is a must

Iseeyoulookingatme · 18/01/2021 13:13

We have a themed party night every Friday which we get a few decorations for, make a meal around the theme, listen to music around the theme and and watch a film around the theme. I enjoy thinking of meals for it and it's the highlight of my week so far.

brunetteonthebus · 18/01/2021 13:15

Does a trip specifically for M&S biscuits count as essential though?

Probably have to make do with the leftover Christmas biccies! To be fair any food eaten in peace without small children hanging off me or hankering to share will do Grin

I bought some real linen sheets and a new duvet. I've been thinking about buying them for a long time.

I also bought some very beautiful white plain plates. I have too much coloured china and nothing that enhances the look of the food.

I look forward to using them both for everyday and entertaining.

These two things gave me joy.

Retail therapy for me and I am helping the economy in a small way.

This is a lovely thread.
I'm massively disappointed that DD4's pony hasn't made it on as a local tourist attraction... When we have him tied up to the fence (borders a main road) to groom him/tack him up, and when we take him out for a lead-rein walk we have a queue of people that miss animals wanting to say hello. He's cute af but DD is really starting to enjoy the attention a bit too much.

I also look forward to bin day and even enjoy nursery drop-off because I get to see real people. There was a queue outside our M&S food hall last week so I managed to justify a blissful extra ten minutes out of the house.

Bread! We were given a breadmaker years ago but only started using it the other week. Dh & I were so excited when we first used it and couldn't wait for it to finish. Unfortunately, the first loaf was small and underwhelming but it was from a packet mix so we tried again using actual, proper ingredients and it was delicious! Our house smelled amazing and it reminded me of when I was a child and used to watch my dad baking bread on a Saturday afternoon. I made croutons with the last bit of that loaf so none went to waste. We have some many ideas for different recipes and types of bread now!

Runnerduck34 · 18/01/2021 16:46

Ive just been to asda😊

Frenchdoors1 · 18/01/2021 17:49

I went for a click & collect for some cat food. Was only a short walk though and I was back home in no time... Should have gone the long way round

Darklingthrush · 18/01/2021 19:42

I thought I had a mammogram tomorrow but actually it's next week. Sad

sandybayley · 18/01/2021 19:46

I gave blood at the weekend. Everyone was so cheery. And I got biscuits.

I'm going for a smear as a Friday night treat next weekend.

Farewell2020 · 18/01/2021 19:54

I had to use the laundrette Confused

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 18/01/2021 20:32

I drove on country lanes atnight.

Have they always been that terrifying? Used to think nothing of it, but rarely go out after dark now... And usually the only place I go is the supermarket or other shops in town (I went to the MOT centre!)

IrenetheQuaint · 18/01/2021 20:43

I had a Covid test for the first time last week as I had cold symptoms and an upset stomach. Gosh it was exciting! Working out how the website worked to book the test, walking to the test centre (in the dark - I haven't been out in the evening for months), the socially distanced queueing, undoing the exciting test package, doing the test itself under instruction from a nice healthcare assistant, dropping it off, walking home then the tension of waiting for the (negative) result... what a thrill! It really made my week.

TheSpottedZebra · 18/01/2021 20:46

My covid test was also oddly pleasing.
I liked that it came so quickly, and I was pleased with the NHS Priority Postbox. I'd never heard of such a thing before!

It gave me a tiny ray of hope that perhaps the government response isn't totally shit after all.

Plussizejumpsuit · 18/01/2021 21:46

I went to home bargains this evening!

Tip and home bargains in one day! We do our supermarket shop at sainsburys near a retail park, but my partner can't drive (we lived in London until recently) so I drove him and went to get cleaning products there while he shopped.
I know not driving is a mumsnet sin!

SugarMiceInTheRain · 18/01/2021 21:49

A trip to the tip. Or rather several. We are trying to move house so there's a lot of sorting and chucking going on. I honestly get excited about going. Tip trips and going for walks and the odd jog are what keeps me going at the moment.

BlowDryRat · 18/01/2021 21:52

Walking to Argos to collect a set of 2kg hand weights. I've been after a set since the first lockdown but they've either been sold out everywhere or ridiculous prices on Amazon. £10.99 at Argos and a slog back up the very steep hill home felt like winning the covid lottery!

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 18/01/2021 21:54

SOOOO many exciting things have happened recently. We had workmen in to do a job on a shed outside and it was just fantastic to see someone wandering around our garden. The delivery driver didn't just knock on the window yesterday but instead waited a moment to say 'its bloody windy up here'. I answered 'yes, it's also always a degree colder than the town'. It was quite the interaction. It's my son's birthday tomorrow and I've arranged a full blown party in the living room for him and his siblings. And someone upthread just reminded me my cat needs vaccinating in January so I'll have that to book and look forward to now. I also just bought a basket for the toilet rolls and that might arrive sometime in the next few weeks (Brexit willing).

MutteringDarkly · 18/01/2021 22:00

I've just booked an MOT. I've got ten days of anticipation now.

Tiggyyy · 18/01/2021 22:02

I bought my cat a new bed. Her love of her new bed has genuinely made my week.

drspouse · 18/01/2021 22:02

I have two click and collect parcels later in the week at separate supermarkets and I'm planning a walk to one and a bike ride to the other.

drspouse · 18/01/2021 22:11

Oh and I need to book a sight test and a contact lens check and I usually do them on the same day, I think I will push the boat out and do them separately.
