Be honest... do you think being a size 10 is more attractive than a size 14?

Just that... no offence intended it's just to settle an argument I'm interested in people's views. Let's say specifically you have an average / reasonably attractive looking woman of average height, do you think she will look better as a size 10 than she does a 14?

Size 10 is definitely more attractive than size 14 on me. I’m 5’ 5’’ and a pear shape.

Size 14 is my Dark Side. I’m generally a size 12, sometimes 10 but more recently moving towards a 14 as I’ve been very greedy and overeating.

I think being slimmer looks generally more attractive and, more importantly, is healthier.

HolaChicos · 17/01/2021 23:07

I definitely feel more attractive at a size 10 than I do at a size 14.

I preferred myself as a size 10 however, after I had put on some weight again my ex said he preferred me with some weight. That's when I was a 12. I'm now a 14 and I would really like to lose a dress size.“

It’s interesting, isn’t it. My most attractive friend without a shadow of a doubt is size 16 at about 5ft 6. At a summer party, she was tanned, in a white broderie anglaise shift dress and it made me smile as I watched every man present watching her, however thin their partners. She is also the happiest, most contented person I know, which may/may not be relevant.

What???
Cows have four stomachs. Women have one.

You clearly don’t have a B shaped stomach! Lucky you. Grin

And yes, this is absolutely part of why I look better at a size 10. Also the muffin top.

MrsKypp · 17/01/2021 23:14

I think it depends on your height.

I take 6-8 trousers and 10 tops (broad shoulders) so a 14 would be enormous for me - please remember height!!! I am short. My bone structure is also very small e.g. tiny wrists.

If I were loads taller then 14 would be fine.

So it all depends on:
HEIGHT + BONE STRUCTURE + MUSCLES.

londonscalling · 17/01/2021 23:16

Yes

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 17/01/2021 23:19

I'm a 14 and definitely looked better when I was a 10 but I found it so hard to maintain. I'm short so really couldn't eat much at a 10 and needed to go to the gym most days.

Ugzbugz · 18/01/2021 01:10

I posted on this before, and was thinking back as I have a friend who I have had sex with at current size, there is nothing like that between us but he genuinely thinks my body is amazing, God knows about my face 😂 but he likes bigger girls, I know I don't look great due to cellulite etc

MagentaDoesNotExist · 18/01/2021 01:30

I don't agree that height is the determining factor.

I am very tall and I was a 12 just after giving birth. I was huge and wobbly. I felt awful. I had a fat stomach and thighs and was so sluggish and hated looking in the mirror. That was 15kg overweight for me.

A 10 is a comfortable, natural weight for me with no flab. That's where I land naturally when I eat well, drink a sensible amount of wine and exercise sometimes. And the weight where my body looks ok either naked or with clothes on.

8 is too small and has only been the case since teens when working very long hours/ overstressed/ forgetting to eat regularly.

I do agree a lot depends on build but I can't imagine how someone could be 5'3" and a size 14 and be a healthy weight. Their BMI would be huge.

JanuaryJonez · 18/01/2021 01:39

This is interesting. A decade ago a tabloid ran a story featuring about ten young women in their underwear, of various weights and shapes, with the title asking who was the most attractive.

I worked in an open plan office at the time and it did the rounds, and almost all the women seemed to choose the women with the prettiest faces, regardless of size or shape, but almost unanimously, the men chose the skinniest women, regardless of their faces, and the overwhelming reason was that "they look like they look after themselves".

That has stayed with me...

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 18/01/2021 01:39

@MagentaDoesNotExist maybe not when I was slimmer And healthy bmi , I was always a 12/14 bottom half but 10 on top , due to body shape.

But that's talking about carrying only 50% of the weight difference in sizes, if it's only on one half, so not comparable. That would average out as somewhere between a 10-12 in terms of overall weight and the impact on BMI, not a 14.

That is really interesting. There is something inherent in genetics about choosing mates who look "healthy" (however that is ingrained by your societal norms which are variable, and these also interact with personal preferences too obviously). But that is the genetic reason people find overweight people less attractive. Likewise why women prefer taller men, and those with broad shoulders who look strong. It's an innate instinct that evolved to give your descendants the best chance of survival.
donewithitalltodayandxmas · 18/01/2021 01:49

Bit of a crapy thread , you can have two people , same height, same weight and both can look different depending on how / where they carry weight

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 18/01/2021 01:51

Also judging people's attractiveness purely on dress size is rather shallow and you don't generally know someones dress size unless they tell you , you can maybe think you know or guess

TiredUselessHopeless · 18/01/2021 14:07

So who would you rather look like? Both attractive women I’d say!

PurpleDaisies · 18/01/2021 14:09

There’s no way that model on the left is a size 10.

Almostslimjim · 18/01/2021 14:13

Well a) the thin one, is not a size 10 and b) the other one is Ashley Graham, a size 16.

I wouldn't want to look like either personally, but that's mainly due to how fake the first picture looks.

MeMarmiteYouJam · 18/01/2021 14:21

I'd rather look like myself.

Swingometer · 18/01/2021 15:31

Me too @MeMarmiteYoujam

Its rather depressing that to look 'attractive' we clearly need big tits hanging out of a bikini

MolotovMocktail · 18/01/2021 15:48

I don’t think the one on the left is attractive at all. It looks like someone has photo shopped fake tits and a plastic Barbie head onto a child’s body.

NameChange84 · 18/01/2021 16:07

Neither of those pictures are decent representations of real women.

Neither are Size 10 or 14.

I’d also rather look like me. And I’d rather be a 10 than a 14. For me it’s the difference between attractive, slim with curves in all the right places and frumpy, fat and matronly. No matter how I dress.

They were in their underwear though. Might have been a different reply if they were fully clothed.
MrDarcysMa · 18/01/2021 17:28

Depends on the state of the body but generally yes I'd rather be smaller given the option.

MrDarcysMa · 18/01/2021 17:30

Oh the that pic on the left is clearly photoshopped. Look at the line of the cabinets 😂😂😂😂
