Be honest... do you think being a size 10 is more attractive than a size 14?

Just that... no offence intended it's just to settle an argument I'm interested in people's views. Let's say specifically you have an average / reasonably attractive looking woman of average height, do you think she will look better as a size 10 than she does a 14?

@Empressofthemundane

Most people of middling heights won’t have an healthily low BMI at size 10, and size 14 won’t be considered an overweight BMI either.

We aren’t talking about underweight and overweight, but opposite ends of the healthy weight spectrum. It’s simply a matter of genetics and opinions are subjective.

OP states height of 5’3” which I would think is quite overweight at a size 14.
ThePricklySheep · 14/01/2021 21:13

Ah cross post Smile

33goingon64 · 14/01/2021 21:18

No. (Not relevant but I'm a size 10).

nomorecheese · 14/01/2021 21:25

I've been both. I prefer being a size 10 looks wise because I look less lumpy and bumpy and have fewer chins. My eyes look less piggy etc etc.
However I can't sustain it because the healthy eating needed makes me miserable. I think I'm destined to be a 12-14.

If your a size 14 there’s a good chance your over weight unless your tall.
kowari · 14/01/2021 22:02

A waist of over 31.5 inches for women means you have too much abdominal fat. That's about a size 14 I think? Though some women need a 14 because of chest or hip measurements, and are a smaller size on the waist.

SecretRedhead · 14/01/2021 22:05

This is a really shitty thread. "No offense" OP.

Empressofthemundane · 14/01/2021 22:07

I’m 5’6”. When I wear a 14, my BMI is 24. I didn’t think that was overweight.

Namechangebuttercup · 14/01/2021 22:12

I almost only fancy women who are around a size 14. I very rarely size 10.

I personally feel better when I'm a size 10 though, in particular if I have a fair amount of muscle rather than being skinny fat. Haven't been that way since having kids though, and now wondering if I ever will again! 😂

cherryberrylicious · 14/01/2021 22:14

Size 10 is good size

Randomrebel · 14/01/2021 23:00

@kowari not all women are of average height some are under 5ft tall and some women are over 6ft. I know OP mentioned an average woman but you can’t make sweeping generalisations about too much abdominal fat.

IndieTara · 14/01/2021 23:37

Size 14 is when I feel best about myself. But I'm 5ft9

Nicolastuffedone · 15/01/2021 05:12

Yes.

Frannibananni · 15/01/2021 05:19

Yes

OldAndWornOut · 15/01/2021 05:21

I find more sturdy people attractive, so definitely a size 14 is preferable.

"Regardless of your height or body mass index (BMI), you should try to lose weight if your waist is:"

"94cm (37in) or more for men"
"80cm (31.5in) or more for women"

Ploughingthrough · 15/01/2021 06:21

I've been both. I look a heck of a lot better at a 10, which is my current size.

Oreservoir · 15/01/2021 06:31

I think we're influenced by advertising etc to see a 10 as more attractive.

Wellthisismorethanabitgrim · 15/01/2021 07:13

I'm a large 12 at the minute. For years I was an 8/10, and I'm quite short and small framed so yes I looked and felt better at that size. I have a friend who is technically a bigger size than me, but she's quite solid, for want of a better word, she looks great. I'm kind of squidgy and rolly when I'm carrying weight, so I think it makes me look / feel bigger.

Changi · 15/01/2021 11:17

Being 0.9 under the minimum bmi is much worse than being 0.9 over the top of the ideal band.

I see your point.

Doffodils · 15/01/2021 11:29

It depends if you mean a woman who measures size 14 or someone who wears size 14 clothes. Most shops' sizes are huge. Curvy can be very attractive, someone tallish with size 14 hips and bust, dressed well with the right underwear will be very attractive. It depends where the weight is. It's easier to be well presented at size 10 though.

seensome · 15/01/2021 11:44

I've been both, currently a 14, I hate it, I feel fat and sluggish, I felt my best at a size 10 but I'll settle for a 12 as I find that easier to maintain, a 12 is my natural size,I'm 5'8 tall. I know I've been eating too much recently but when I get to a 14 that is my breaking point and never been any bigger.

randomer · 15/01/2021 12:22

I know my BMI is in the fat category. I also know I have dieted unsuccessfully for 50 years and I am over eating during lockdown. So there we have it.

Suzi888 · 15/01/2021 12:24

I do, I’ve been both. Depends where you carry the weight though I think, along with height.

I used to be able to eat what I liked and I was size 8, so not everyone is starving themselves to achieve a size 10Confused by the way!

jackjackjacks · 15/01/2021 12:43

I've been both.

I do not carry fat well. I look so much better at a size 10. Unfortunately I have to eat like a sparrow to maintain it.
