Be honest... do you think being a size 10 is more attractive than a size 14?

Just that... no offence intended it's just to settle an argument I'm interested in people's views. Let's say specifically you have an average / reasonably attractive looking woman of average height, do you think she will look better as a size 10 than she does a 14?

Clothed or naked?

I’m sure at a 10 I’d look great in clothes. But naked I look much better at a 14. After 3 big pregnancies my stomach is ruined. Padded out with a bit of fat it’s a squishy mess. Without the fat it’s a wrinkled saggy mess! I prefer squishy.

Same with my boobs - stretchmarks are passable when my boobs are full, but when I lose weight they look so sad and deflated, like popped balloons.

And my face is getting to that age where a bit of fat under the skin is helping to disguise my wrinkles! My thinned friends definitely look older facially - albeit more elegant and attractive overall.

I’m currently an 18 though, so can stand to lose a few stone and look better before I lose so much that I look worse!

Randomrebel · 13/01/2021 23:42

Depends what you class as average height. If say above 5’5-5’6’ or above although it depends on the woman’s age, bone structure and whether facially they look gaunt at a size or look happier toned at a size 14. Sometimes they might look younger or more attractive at a size 14 so it really depends on the woman, her age, bone structure etc.

Lizzie523 · 13/01/2021 23:44

I prefer to be a size 12. I'm a size 14 at the moment but carry it off fairly well because I'm an hourglass with a small waist, large boobs and bum. I'm still pretty hot stuff despite being slightly overweight Grin

My bum was starting to look like Kim Kardashian's sans surgery though so I've been eating healthily since Christmas!

Barney60 · 13/01/2021 23:45

i think it depends on age too, ive seen some very thin over 50s who look young from behind but can look awful, from front view, ive seen over 50s size 14 who look amazing. I think if your too thin in later life your face can look scraggy, fat plumps out wrinkles too! i think its more to do with how you carry yourself, and what clothes you wear.

Baileysoncereal · 13/01/2021 23:47

In clothes I look better as a 10
But naked I look better as a 14

DH prefers 14 regardless
Everyone else compliments me more at a 10

theleafandnotthetree · 13/01/2021 23:47

In the vast majority of cases, size 10 for sure. I once worked with a woman who was perhaps a size 18 but had perfect proportions and looked amazing. Equally, I have a friend maybe three sizes larger than I but who still looks better than I (size 10) in a bikini because again, everything is in perfect proportion compared to my pear shape. But honestly, these two women are the exceptions. For most ordinary women with ordinary figures, size 10 is going to look better and clothes will fit and hang better

sept2021 · 13/01/2021 23:49

Not at all! Everyone carries their weight differently. I'm barely a size 4 and I suit being this size because I'm a shortie, if I was a size 10 I would look quite overweight and unflattering as when I have put weight on before I carry my weight all in my stomach and look like i have a beer belly! I have friends who are size 18 and they look absolutely amazing and they are so confident in themselves, and other friends who are size 16 who are insecure as they carry weight in awkward places.

Goatscheesewithhoney · 13/01/2021 23:52

Yes.

stevalnamechanger · 13/01/2021 23:55

@Lorw

I reckon this should come with a trigger warning tbh.

I’m a size 18- 36K boobs. I became bulimic a few years ago and dropped from a healthy happy size 18 to a an incredibly unwell size 10, and to keep that up I barely ate anything and went to the gym 5 times a week to the point I was passing out. I thought it was everything I wanted but I was miserable and hated how I looked cause I have MASSIVE boobs so I looked stupid. I’m now back to a happy size 18/20 and wouldn’t change it tbh.

Confidence and loving yourself is more attractive than anything else.

Out of interest isn’t the title trigger warning enough?
Whatsnewpussyhat · 13/01/2021 23:55

Yes. I am a 14 now and looked far better at size 10.
My bones felt better too with less weight to lug around.

DaisyDreaming · 13/01/2021 23:56

It depends on the person, I think I look nicer at a 10 than a 14 (although I would be happy if I was a 14 again!). I still had boobs and shape at 10 so 14 didn’t have any advantages. I can’t say i think people I know are any more or less attractive at either size

Yes, as a boyish-figured person myself, I’d love to have your curves ! My DD is similar to you and she gets a lot of attention. It’s somewhat worrying to her old Mum!😂
Heartlantern2 · 13/01/2021 23:56

Probably, very likely

Ugzbugz · 13/01/2021 23:57

Yeah I'm gross, 5.5, bit over size 12, roughly 2 BMI points of obese, gross.

TossCointoYerWitcher · 13/01/2021 23:58

Opinion of a male poster: depends on what's natural to her body shape. I've known plenty of gorgeous Size 14 women who looked worse for going down a size. Healthy is sexy - looking like you've starved yourself is not.

I admit, I may not be typical of my gender though.

CorianderBee · 13/01/2021 23:59

@m0therofdragons

size 8 in the 60s is a 16 now.

Size 8s in the 60 were slim so don’t talk nonsense. There may have been some changes but my mum still has her size 8 clothes from the 60s and they fit me pre kids even I was an 8. Size 8 was and still is slim.

Just what I read in newspaper articles on the subject
Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 14/01/2021 00:01

Yes, and I'm usually a 14, but I'm quite tall so people always assume I'm about a 12. I do have quite wide hips and shoulders though.

eaglejulesk · 14/01/2021 00:01

Not necessarily. I see many people who really don't look attractive due to being too thin. There is nothing wrong with being a size 14, and I look good at that. I don't think being a size 10 would be particularly attractive on me, and would rather look healthy than scrawny.

CanICelebrate · 14/01/2021 00:04

Yes definitely

LegArmpits · 14/01/2021 00:05

Depends if you're as funny as I am Op 😂

BohemianDream · 14/01/2021 00:06

I cant recall ever being small enough to fit a size 10. Been a size 12 since puberty, huuuge hips.
It would take starvation for me to achieve a size 10 figure, and I doubt it would look very attractive all
Though I do admire a smaller, leaner frame.

Girlyracer · 14/01/2021 00:07

10 definitely. It is much more difficult to dress in a trendy fun way at size 14.

Witchlight · 14/01/2021 00:08

As I get older, I look better with a bit more fat. At size 10, my face is a bit gaunt/wrinkled/hollow and at 14 I look plumper in the face and cheeks.

My breasts look better too. I look best as an m&s 10, a Hobbs 12 and a designer 14. I’m 60

When I was in my 20s, slimmer looked better.

Providora · 14/01/2021 00:13

As a big boned, 5'11 hourglass I look fine at 14 but feel my best at 12.

From experience I know I can get down to a fit 10 without looking or feeling unwell but at 49yo I think my face and boobs would suffer from the lack of fat.

Fatherliamdeliverance · 14/01/2021 00:15

Depends on build but I look my best at a 10-12. Currently about a 14 but 8 days into a diet. I'm broad and stocky so will never be a true 10, however slim I get, tailored 10s will be tight at the hips and shoulders and lower ribs but I look and feel a lot better slim. I just feel that you can see my facial bone structure and body proportions this way.
