Be honest... do you think being a size 10 is more attractive than a size 14?

Just that... no offence intended it's just to settle an argument I'm interested in people's views. Let's say specifically you have an average / reasonably attractive looking woman of average height, do you think she will look better as a size 10 than she does a 14?

@WhateverTheySay

Daft question.

Some women are size 10, and 'sooo slim,' but have a face like a bag of spanners.

Some women are size 14, and have a beautiful face.

It's a myth that thin & slim = beautiful, and curvy & overweight = ugly.

Changi · 14/01/2021 00:32

Marylyn Monroe was a size 16, I suppose 14 now.

@GypsyLee You do know that that is a myth?

Was she average height.

Her details were recorded on a Blue Book Modelling Agency card. Including her height and weight: 5'6" and 8st 8lbs with a 25" waist. That was a US 12 then. She would be UK 6 or 8 now. She was 3lbs lighter at the time of her death.

Changi · 14/01/2021 00:34

Actually a 24" waist.

PerveenMistry · 14/01/2021 00:37

Yes, 99 percent of the time.

Yeah I always thought it was bollocks that MM was a size 16. In today's world she'd be a 10-12.

Vanity sizing rears its head again. Grin

GypsyLee · 14/01/2021 00:40

No, I didn't.
I saw it/ well heard it in an interview of old tapes.
Many years ago, was really interesting.
Forget who was interviewing her now, was old 50's interviews.

Callcat · 14/01/2021 00:50

Mostly, yes.

Changi · 14/01/2021 00:58

She was a 12 in yesterday's world. In today's world, she would be a 6 or 8.

No way. I've seen one of her dresses. She was tiny.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 14/01/2021 00:59

I'm 5'4" and have always been an 8, but have put on a bit of weight over the last 5 years (I'm 53), so am 8-10 now. For me to be a size 14 I would probably be a couple of stone heavier, and I would consider myself fat and would feel much less attractive if I had excess rolls.

Happymum12345 · 14/01/2021 01:02

It’s obviously best to be a healthy weight, whatever size that is.

Smallgoon · 14/01/2021 01:02

Yes.

Smallgoon · 14/01/2021 01:03

I would never want to be a size 14. I have never been a size 10.

Bouledeneige · 14/01/2021 01:04

Yes. I'm currently 16-18 but 5 years ago I was Size 10-12. I looked much better then.

BaggoMcoys · 14/01/2021 01:05

I've been a size 4 at my smallest, a size 12-14 at my biggest. I look best at size 8-10, but I have a small frame and don't carry extra weight well imo.

EugenesAxe · 14/01/2021 01:06

I'd think a size 10 would. Sorry.

I often appreciate the beauty of a slim female form and, when exposed to it, have hardly ever admired to the same extent, the look of larger women, and so would go for the smaller size.

EugenesAxe · 14/01/2021 01:15

@littlepattilou definitely has a point though. Viz called them 'butterfaces', as in 'Great body, but her face...'

Beauty trumps weight every time for me, but if that is equal then I'd prefer the size 10 person.

TheOneLeggedJockey · 14/01/2021 01:33

Come on, Marilyn was not a size 16. I have no idea how this myth even started.

Changi · 14/01/2021 01:39

Wishful thinking?

Positively4thStreet · 14/01/2021 01:43

I personally think it depends on your body shape. Some people would look slightly overweight at 14 some fabulous some would look unhealthily thin at 10 others likewise. in other words it's how you carry it. It's the same for blokes my best mate is 110kg and 5,10 but his frame somehow distributes it well and he looks great. If I was 40kgs heavier I would not carry it off.

Sandybanana7 · 14/01/2021 01:44

Yes it can do although for me a size 12 looks better.
I am currently a 10 due to not eating and poor mental health. A 12 looks better on me as my face goes very thin and drawn, and my face has always been my best feature.

Time40 · 14/01/2021 01:47

Yes, size 10 is always more attractive than size 14 - especially with today's vanity sizing.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 14/01/2021 01:50

Vintage sizing was much smaller. A vintage size uk 12 dress would be more like an 8 now so a 16 would be about a 12.
No way she was a modern size 16.

She was 5ft 5 and 59 kgs. Make of that what you will. Coincidentally I'm dragging as Marylin to send an birthday vid message tomorrow....oerrr

Bag of spanners. 🤣

It’s true though.
