Be honest... do you think being a size 10 is more attractive than a size 14?

Just that... no offence intended it's just to settle an argument I'm interested in people's views. Let's say specifically you have an average / reasonably attractive looking woman of average height, do you think she will look better as a size 10 than she does a 14?

What Parisians think doesn't concern me though!

Good for you. But the point is that not all Europeans have the same view of what is slim and what is not.

CorianderBee · 13/01/2021 22:47

Tbh depends on the body shape. I have a pal who's a 14 and she's like a damn hourglass with a small waist vs I'm a 10 and gain on my belly.

She def looks better than me.

Fat is considered very attractive in many other countries of the world. That doesn't concern me either. If I'm a size 10, I'm a size 10 and nicely slim. That's good enough for me. Certainly I was never made to feel like a heifer whenever I went to Paris!
kowari · 13/01/2021 22:47

I think it's about the waist/hip ratio like a PP said. Mine is lower now I'm smaller, I'm curvier at a lower weight, which looks better.

CorianderBee · 13/01/2021 22:47

It's all about how clothes fit

m0therofdragons · 13/01/2021 22:50

At size 10 all over i look unwell but I’ve wide hips so at 5ft 5 and 9st I’m just about squeezing into size 10 jeans. My happy weight is 9st7-9st10 which makes me a 10 on top and a 12 on the bottom. Less than that I lose my boobs. As I’m nearing 40 and with a range of close friends from my age up to mid 50s, it’s becoming apparent that my stick thin friends look older in the face than my slightly fuller figured friends.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 13/01/2021 22:50

10

lissie123 · 13/01/2021 22:50

Well I’ve been a 10, 14, and a 16. All perfectly fine. But feel much better when I’m
Slimmer. But it’s hard work to maintain. I’m current 12-14. I am okay with that.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 13/01/2021 22:51

I looked and felt better as a slim size 12. Size 10 I looked gaunt and lost my curves

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 13/01/2021 22:53

What's alarming is the numver of women on this thread referring to themselves as disgusting or saying that being the average UK dress size or a size smaller than that made them miserable or shy about leaving the house! How "attractive" is it to have such a fragile sense of self and so little self esteem and self confidence Sad

feistyoneyouare · 13/01/2021 22:53

@Beautiful3

Yes, 10 is better. Less fat is more attractive.
That's a purely subjective opinion, not a universal truth.
WalkersAreNotTheOnlyCrisps · 13/01/2021 22:53

For me personally it’s all in the hip/waist ratio, so some look good at a size 6 or size 16. Obviously different for all.

JohnBarron · 13/01/2021 22:54

Yes. And at 5ft2 I would not want to be a size 14.

Scaredykittycat · 13/01/2021 22:54

Yes.

It’s not just about physical appearance either is it. Carrying excess weight is not healthy and anyone who argues that they’re healthier a size 14 than they were when they were a size 10 is not speaking based on a doctors assessment.

I can say when j was a size 6 I was in a terrible state mentally and was not healthy. However I also know I was way fitter than I am now and having less fat cells lowered my risk of some cancers. I eat better now (less bingeing and more varied) but I am definitely not healthier than I was when I was slimmer.

Hangingover · 13/01/2021 22:54

I'm nearly six foot and skinny/toned and with narrow hips, no bum, broad shoulders and a tiny bust. If I were a 14 I'd look big and square I think. Not fat exactly but just large all over.

Cam2020 · 13/01/2021 22:54

Yes - and to be honest I think a size 6/8 is even better. Sorry

I don't have a size 6-8 skeleton though Hmm. This is where bone structure comes into play - one size does not fit all.

But the average U.K. dress size for a women is fat at a size 16.

Iv been a 14 after pregnancy and felt horrible and fat. I didn’t stop going out though and doing things.

I’m a 8/10 now and feel/look 1000x better!

Cameleongirl · 13/01/2021 22:56

I thought Marilyn Munroe was at least a size 12, possibly larger, and considered gorgeous.

Even today with people more aware of healthy weights, I can’t imagine that she wouldn’t be considered very attractive.

ChronicallyCurious · 13/01/2021 22:56

Yes

shotofchips · 13/01/2021 22:57

Always

FuckOffBorisYouTwat · 13/01/2021 22:57

I definitely look better as a 10. I am a 14 currently, I'm over weight and unfit.

No, this is not true. She was an hourglass with a very small waist, nothing like today's size 12 or 14.
SunsetSenora · 13/01/2021 22:58

Really depends on how you carry weight and your overall shape. There are definitely people who would look better if they gained some weight - especially as you get older. The french say after 40 you have to decide your figure or your face, because if you keep very thin, you will look gaunt.

jumperweather · 13/01/2021 22:58

Yes, at size 10 I feel and look great...size 14 I look a mess! But I'm short ....

MrsMiaWallis · 13/01/2021 22:59

Marilyn munroe was tiny!
