Lost cat, any stories of hope please?

My lovely cat hasn't been seen since Saturday morning :-(. He never stays out overnight and this is really out of character. I have added his details to our local lost pets FB page and knocked around the area asking if people can look out for him and also left his litter box out and some cover /food.
I know it's only been two days but I'm really sad and worried :-(
Anyone got any heartening stories about returning felines?

We have 2 and they've both disappeared. Our black young man was trapped inside an internal courtyard of the local hospital. The little bugger had gone over the roof and fallen in and couldn't get out. He was there for 10 days before he was spotted and they rang me.

The other one went off in a huff when we got the young black one. She came back 12 weeks later looking like an extra from The Walking Dead. I think that once she got over her huff she couldn't find her way home.

My cat disappeared for 3 months. I'd given up hope. I was laying in the bath one night and he sauntered in and sat beside the tub looking at me like he was lord muck! I was so relieved/tearful and cross at the same time!

Hope yours is back soon OP Thanks

Sorry to hear Boo is not back, OP.

My neighbour's cat has not been seen for 3 days, very unusual and it is flooding and snowing here Sad. He's an intelligent little thing so I hope he's taking shelter and will be back once the weather improves. Just feel so anxious about him. Have leafleted and put posters up, also shared to local groups. Hope that he and Boo are home soon.

Ha, if no one is downstairs when he wants to come in, he will go and scratch on DD's window and she lets him in via the bathroom window so I can image being in the same situation! Awful, the wait though and @MyMumTracyBeaker it is raining here too so adds another level of concern Sad. Bloody things x

Ours jumped in a delivery van. The driver thought he had seen a cat run out but had made many stops that day. She was found a month later in a wood yard when her collar fell off and someone telephoned us. We had phoned vets, rescues and put posters up. She wouldn’t let anyone there near her but went straight to my husband when he went to get her.She was found 12 miles from home. Don’t give up.

Ours went missing for three months. We leafleted, posted on various local pages. Had all but given up hope and received a phone call. She'd followed a teenager home in the rain. I reckon she thought it was one of my girls. We were so relieved. Good luck OP x

@tiredvommachine ah sorry to hear your cat has not returned yet.
My story is: when I was 17 and passed my driving test I took my car for a drive in my car! She hated it so I let her out about 100 yards from our house. Stupid thing to do but at 17 I was a bit silly.

When I got back from my drive, Sam our cat hadn't returned, my mum was furious and we searched everywhere. Weeks and months went by and we assumed she had died as she was a tiny little cat and very much a homebody, regular as clockwork and shy. Every night mum would call for her. We never really gave up hope.

A year later, one Misty November morning mum woke me up to say she thinks Sam as in our garden. She was! A little skinny and a bit feral, she finally came into to the house, ran up to my room where she would always sleep and pooed on my bed.

She lived until she was 19, went missing when she was 7. Smile

We had a cat go for a week. She had gone through a neighbours cat flap and been bailed up by the neighbours cat in the dining room. As the neighbiur was bed bound and had carers coming in no-one seemed to realise the yowling was not resident cat.

Had a call yesterday from a neighbour who lives probably 150 yards away from our house saying he saw a cat on his garden matching Boo's description. Now, this is on the other side of the road from where we live and I've never seen Boo in that area so could a cat be so daft that he is lost so close to home? I will go looking again today but now two weeks since he's gone. His friend came looking for him yesterday 😢

They can wander quite large distances, so maybe it's him. 🤞

Oops, didn't read your post properly... Hmm, maybe it is him and he's confused as to where he is.

tiredvommachine · 23/01/2021 10:49

If it is him and we get him back, the temptation to keep him in will be huge but I know not in his best interest. GPS collar all the way though!

Neighbour's cat got locked in our basement for several days. We think she fell asleep because we were in and out a bit. She was black too and I got a shock when I saw a pair of luminous green eyes in the dark.

Someone I’m friends with on Facebook had their cat turn up after five years. She’d assumed he was dead, but he eventually turned up about six miles away from where she was living! She has no idea how he got there.

🤞🤞🤞 that it is Boo!

My neighbour's cat returned after 5 days yesterday - he had been shut in a garage about 100 yards down, across the road. As soon as they opened the garage he went running back to my neighbour's house. My cat must have heard because he was over there like a shot to say hi! I'm so relieved he was sheltered from the cold and snow but he was starving and clingy. Still wanted to go out but he was kept in last night.

Let us know, OP!
