Lost cat, any stories of hope please?

My lovely cat hasn't been seen since Saturday morning :-(. He never stays out overnight and this is really out of character. I have added his details to our local lost pets FB page and knocked around the area asking if people can look out for him and also left his litter box out and some cover /food.
I know it's only been two days but I'm really sad and worried :-(
Anyone got any heartening stories about returning felines?

My cat went missing in the February of 2013 and turned up on the garden wall.... August 2014. Definitely my cat!

NewYearNewLockdown · 13/01/2021 20:26

a Red Kite had just taken a pigeon in his garden and we needed to consider that Boo might have met the same fate

No way!! I think there's quite a big difference between a pigeon and a cat - sharp claws and teeth for a start.

Our cat went missing years ago and was found 4 months later, don't give up hope.

Hope he's back soon, Op Thanks

We had a cat when I was a teen. He went off 1 morning and didn't come back for 3 weeks, he just appeared in the garden looking a bit bedraggled and had lost weight

ShipshapeShore · 14/01/2021 14:37

I would ignore the neighbour. Red Kites are scavengers and would be unlikely to take a pigeon I don't think, let alone a cat! They are actually very light birds with hollow bones and aren't capable of taking large prey. So unless you live somewhere with White Tailed Sea Eagles, aka flying barn doors, I'd discount the bird of prey theory completely.

My friends cat was missing a year. Don’t know how but ended up in another area. Was scanned for a chip (can’t remember the story) and returned.

SpudsandGravy · 14/01/2021 14:56

Thinking of you and your cat, OP Thanks It's very stressful. They do quite often come back, but the waiting is dreadful.

tiredvommachine · 14/01/2021 15:42

Thank you, it's started snowing here as well, just to ramp up the anxiety. Definitely, the waiting is terrible and just want to know one way or another. It's still only (!) been four days now but has seemed an eternity.

Just a thought - and sorry if you've talked about this and I've missed it - but did you have any deliveries just before your cat vanished? We adopted a cat (Frankie) from its previous owner once and when talking about Frankie's personality he said 'watch him, he's a nosey little bugger. Once got in a Tesco van and ended up in Luton'.

my friend's cat went to Paris

tiredvommachine · 14/01/2021 16:47

@Gliblet, no deliveries but wouldn't be surprised if he went on a road trip Grin

I hope you're ok, op. Have you had any sightings?

tiredvommachine · 15/01/2021 13:44

Ah, thank you @LagneyandCasey, nice of you to ask Smile. No, not hide or hair of him.. Week tomorrow last seen him.

Hang on in there tiredvommachine. In the land of lost cats a week is still a short amount of time. Wishing you good news in the form of a hungry moggy very soon Flowers.

tiredvommachine · 15/01/2021 13:54

Fingers crossed! Star

I’m on the next door app. One of my neighbours on there has been posting photos of her missing cat for over a week. Today it came home!

tiredvommachine · 15/01/2021 18:32

@Howmanysleepsnow, thank you! I'm trying desperately not to give up hope and I know a lot of the stories posted on here have much longer absence dates but it's torture. You've reminded me to recirculate his picture on there though Smile

Still thinking of you and your cat, OP, and hoping for the best 👍 x

tiredvommachine · 16/01/2021 10:50

@SpudsandGravy, thank you. Daughter crashed her car this morning, she is ok luckily as was low speed but so far 2021 is looking as shite as 2020!

Drinkarsefeck · 16/01/2021 10:56

Oh no, I've stopped saying things can't get worse because they invariably do when I say it! I hope your daughter is okay, it will have been a shock regardless. Animalsearch.co.uk is worth a try for your missing cat. Hope you have good news soon.

tiredvommachine · 16/01/2021 11:17

Thank you @Drinkarsefeck, I will have a look x

Cleverpolly3 · 16/01/2021 11:30

tiredvommachine · 16/01/2021 16:56

@Cleverpolly3, yes I have advertised him locally on Facebook lost pets so I know I'm doing as much as I can until he is found/comes home hopefully. Thank you for the well wishes Flowers
