Lost cat, any stories of hope please?

My lovely cat hasn't been seen since Saturday morning :-(. He never stays out overnight and this is really out of character. I have added his details to our local lost pets FB page and knocked around the area asking if people can look out for him and also left his litter box out and some cover /food.
I know it's only been two days but I'm really sad and worried :-(
Anyone got any heartening stories about returning felines?

One of our boys suddenly started having mini holidays. It's flipping awful and I weep with relief when the little devil strolls back in after a few days! He's been gone in awful stormy wet weather before too and I've thought the worst but he's turned up again. Fingers crossed it's the same for your lovely boy and he's home soon.

Thank you! Shock

@tiredvommachine Yup! Hopefully yours won't take his sweet time like mine did!

Our local Facebook page is good for this. We've all been looking out for a missing cat for the last couple of weeks - today he was found and delivered home.

Dowser · 12/01/2021 23:08

Let’s hope op

Dowser · 12/01/2021 23:10

My grandson is always late to go to bed and he heard their grandson about 3 am
While he was still up.
The whole family got up to watch her eat.
It’s so distressing.
Two of my cats did this
Only gone for about two days , but they were the longest two days of my life

frostymornings · 12/01/2021 23:26

One of mine was found after 6 weeks, she'd gone for a very long wander, we had given up hope by that stage.

tiredvommachine · 12/01/2021 23:28

I'm spending way too long staring at the bifold doors waiting to see him appear Sad. Any joy with dowsing @Dowser?

Don’t give up hope
I hope Boo is back soon 💐🤞🏻

Have you tried posting on Next Door? It’s a community website which might be worth signing up for if you haven’t already. Post about your cat and ask people to keep an eye out.

My incredibly clingy cat went missing for 8 days and turned up with a dislocated hip and weight loss. The vet thinks he was shut in somewhere
He clung to me for weeks after and screamed if I opened the window Hmm

littlealexhorne · 12/01/2021 23:49

I really hope he's back home with you soon

tiredvommachine · 13/01/2021 00:07

@GoLightlyontheEarth, I have signed up to Next Door and done this but thank you. So many lovely stories and I'm sorry I'm not replying to all but they are really giving me hope so thank you again for people taking the time to post Flowers

Dcat was missing for 6 months before we got a call from cats protection as they'd found him and scanned his microchip. We'd given up all hope by then but we're ecstatic to have him back.

Fingers crossed yours is home soon

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 13/01/2021 00:20

Tom the ginger fluffy fucker went missing for 2 weeks. I put posters up everywhere, was distraught as it was a cold winter.
He returned two weeks later considerably fatter and never went missing again.

ims0rrydarlingg · 13/01/2021 00:31

My cat went missing once. She wasn’t an outdoor cat at all so we were pretty scared when she went missing. We left her bed and some of our clothes near the front gate so she could smell us if she was heavy and she was back a few days later, hiding under the car until we had returned home on that particular day. As soon as we unlocked the front door and let ourself in, she shot inside. Was fine but a bit on the hungry side.

ims0rrydarlingg · 13/01/2021 00:32

*nearby, not heavy.

Dowser · 13/01/2021 11:33

@tiredvommachine
He’s in the machine and I am sending him healing energy in the hope he’s alive and just needs that extra boost to keep him going until he comes home or is found.
I mainly use dowsing for health . I’m rubbish at finding lost things , or finding water etc
You seem to find with Dowsers that they are particularly good at one aspect of dowsing or maybe two and the other aspects not so.

I’ll keep him on the machine for a few more days.

tiredvommachine · 13/01/2021 14:02

@Dowser, thank you so much Flowers

I’m not sure if this is a good story to tell or not but my cat went missing when she was about five. She was a roamer but she’d always come home for her tea when I arrived home from school and then sleep in my bed with me. We put up posters after a few days to no avail.

A fortnight after she’d gone missing we got a call from our vicar - she’d been found lying on a deserted track behind the vicarage by a dog walker. This track was occasionally used by local teens to race quad bikes and she’d been hit.

Her back leg was in plaster for a few weeks but she recovered really well and lived to the grand old age of 18. Feel very lucky someone found her in time.

tiredvommachine · 13/01/2021 17:20

@problembottom, really glad to hear you got her back 😊. One of our neighbours today rang and said he hadn't seen Boo but a Red Kite had just taken a pigeon in his garden and we needed to consider that Boo might have met the same fate 😕

How nice of your neighbour to say that Hmm

I doubt that would have happened, op. There are plenty of small birds and rodents around. I can't imagine a bird of prey taking an adult cat.

SoupnSalads · 13/01/2021 18:06

Found few years later, had recently moved and cat taken in by a lady a few streets away, called by a vet who checked the microchip. 'But I've been looking after it...' Yeah right, you didn't take her to the vets for three years...Always hope Flowers

SoupnSalads · 13/01/2021 18:07

^Four years I should say.

Don't give up hope OP!
This story was in the news just before Xmas.
Fingers crossed yours turns up very soon. 🤞
