Lost cat, any stories of hope please?

My lovely cat hasn't been seen since Saturday morning :-(. He never stays out overnight and this is really out of character. I have added his details to our local lost pets FB page and knocked around the area asking if people can look out for him and also left his litter box out and some cover /food.
I know it's only been two days but I'm really sad and worried :-(
Anyone got any heartening stories about returning felines?

@shewalkslikerihanna, hello. No, no sign of Boo yet. Am catsitting my in laws puss whilst they're away so nice to have a cat around again. Hopefully, the universe will decide this is the time for Boo to make an appearance as they don't get on Grin

@MouseholeCat

When I was a child one of ours went missing for 5 days. We were so sure he wasn't coming back, and then one evening he came running up our drive frantically meowing and looking pretty skinny. It turned out, he had got himself shut in our next-door neighbour's garage when he went away on holiday.

The weird part is that his brother kept on trying to get us to follow him down our lane and walking up our neighbour's drive. We just thought he was being neurotic with his brother missing, but I guess he knew where he was.

Another time, the mum of the cat in the first story went missing. I can't remember how long she was gone for but she suddenly came bounding across our garden with what looked like an honour guard of our other two cats- again, they were all meowing frantically! We think she'd been locked in a shed.

Lovely stories
When my dds cat went missing , I asked among the Dowsers for help.
Animals are notoriously difficult to pick up as they’re moving about or have moved about a bit.
Someone’ said to have a word with a local neighbourhood cat ..
Now I found this a bit weird even for me ..but your stories give some credence to that.

Still hoping 🤞

Awww, I’m sorry to hear that OP, I’m sure they’ll be back! I’ve had plenty of cats over the years and one of mine went missing for two weeks, just took herself off on a jolly and then turned up one day. Sometimes, they just take themselves off on an adventure.

Please keep on with the local FB groups as that helped me massively with my current girl cat. Me and my ex had went on a long weekend away and my best mate who lived with us at the time was looking after them. Bless her, she didn’t want to phone and tell me/worry us on our weekend away so she phoned my dad who called me.

I posted on our local FB group and a girl who’s dad had been renovating his house(but didn’t live in it) saw the post and asked her dad to check his house who had his house opposite us and low and behold, she’d got scared of the fireworks(she’s scared of everything) and ran in when he didn’t notice and he locked up. She was hidden in the floorboards for 3 days. Luckily for me, the quick witted lass had told him as he wasn’t planning on going back for another 3 weeks and she would of perished by then.

I’ve got my fingers crossed for you, I’m sure they’ll come home soon! Flowers

@tiredvommachine I'm so sorry your cat has gone missing. In the past this has happened to me with some of my cats who never wandered, but who got locked in somewhere. Sometimes they will return after a week or 2, totally fine but starving. I know someone whose cat Simba recently went missing, turns out he got onto the back of a fuel lorry and ended up in town and through posters she put up, he was found. I really hope you find him, keep us updated x

I’ve not RTFT (or, not all of it!), sorry if been suggested already. But go out and call his name as you walk. You’ll look and feel like a loon, but it can work. Go in a different direction for a long walk every day, call him as you go. Hopefully he’ll hear you!

When I was 16 we moved 200 miles. My mum had a cat, Olly. He hated everyone but my mum. When we moved my uncle and cousin had Olly in the van with them, my mum was in the car, about an hour behind with my aunt. When my uncle arrived at the new house, he let Olly out into the back garden. 200 miles from home and hadn't seen my mum. He didn't come home. My mum was heartbroken. We leafleted, left clothes out etc. We thought he was gone forever. 5 months later, he was sat at the back door!! A bit thinner (not a bad thing!!) But absolutely fine! Was (what my mum called) a miracle! Hope your cat is home quicker than Olly x

We once had a lovely cat hanging around our house, desperately asking for food. We kept an eye out, fed him outside, put up posters and local social media posts. Eventually we took him to the vet to see if he was chipped. He was, they rang his owner, we agreed to deliver him home nearly 3 miles away and he’d been missing for 6 months. I was pleased we’d reunited them but sad we couldn’t keep him! Don’t give up hope. I know it’s so hard.
