Are tarot readers all fake

Erm a tarot reader told me my new relationship is bringing loads of warning cards out. She said there's another women in his life and he's unfairly comparing us.
She then said she pulled 7 of swords out of both decks and told me to look the card up but it's normally a negative card.

So I looked up the card and it's lies. Theft. Cheating etc.

She also said she can't see log term yet for us but he has good intentions. But told me to be wary and it won't be easy with him.

I just wondered how tarot cards work? How on earth can she see such negative things? I thought she'd be more focused on me but tore the man I'm with to shreds.

Thank you.

If you search online for a free tarot reading you will select cards and think WOW that is uncanny, so accurate!

It’s because you can apply the car meaning to any aspect of your life and believe it matches with your circumstance.

Soutiner · 11/01/2021 08:02

^ card not car

This one is incredibly ‘accurate’ every time but I expect that if you chose the same cards as me you would also find it incredibly accurate as well!

My first card is Justice. I can apply it to something in my life and I bet you can too!

If you are genuinely this gullible, you shouldn’t be even considering a relationship, OP..

MerryDecembermas · 11/01/2021 08:06

People who are happy and go for Tarot readings usually come away upset and angry.

People who go for readings when they are in need of hope or closure often come away feeling better.

Seetheseasomeday · 11/01/2021 08:07

I was hoping so. She kept showing me cards with bad characters on them.

I can't say 100% want he's like yet. But I feel so far like we have a really good thing going. He's very into me. Buying gifts. Talking about the future and what holidays we will go on. Always in touch. Kind. He's not perfect. He's had a tough past but he's been open about all that too. I don't feel there's much he could be hiding.

I think she's just made things up perhaps. But it freaked me out a little.

Yes.

Frankly I’m amazed anyone believes otherwise let alone pays these charlatans money.

I'll try the free cards and see if I notice the same. Thank you.

I love a bit of 'woo'. But even I won't buy into tarot. If the cards have a special ability to read you, then buy a pack yourself, and allow your own subconscious to 'tell' you things.

Terracottasaur · 11/01/2021 08:10

There is no magic / truth in it.

The only possibility is that if you were asked questions etc about your life she may have picked up on some of your insecurities and reflected them back to you. So it’s worth considering whether you have your own concerns worth exploring. If you’re perfectly happy though you can safely disregard anything the tarot reader said.

redcandlelight · 11/01/2021 08:12

yes the cards thing is a scam.
but the reader is asking a lot of questions and might have seen some red flags when you were describing your partner and your relationship.

Seetheseasomeday · 11/01/2021 08:12

Yes I pulled out cards on that free reading that could easily be about me.

Think about it logically. There is no way someone pulling random cards out of a deck could provide any insight. It's all trickery, they pick up on cues from you and then embellish them and present them as mystic insight. It's crap.

Seetheseasomeday · 11/01/2021 08:16

All information I gave was our first names dob and I asked where we are going next. She asked if we currently meet due to covid. Obviously we can't meet in this lockdown so it's currently on phones but we've seen eachother face to face before. So perhaps she was digging from asking that.

They're a scam obviously.
The reader reads you, looks at Yr online history and plays to what information you've given her, they're very good at manipulation.
Why would you try another one?

Oreservoir · 11/01/2021 08:17

Was she online or in person? Many years ago my dm dragged me to see a psychic. I went just out of curiosity, I didn't have any problems at the time but dm did.
My experience was that she told me things in such detail that she couldn't have made them up as a one size fits all. She didn't hesitate either but read the cards like she was reading a book of my life.
I came away shocked and never went back. If there's such a thing as a gift she had it.

Generally though I would say its 90% a commercial business with learned rather than gifted readers.

Oreservoir · 11/01/2021 08:19

Just to add the one I went to was pre Internet and didn't ask me anything about my life. She had no way of knowing anything about me.

Seetheseasomeday · 11/01/2021 08:21

The reason it could be relatable is he's still friends with his ex. But they have no interest in being together anymore. They split up ages ago now. Perhaps 2.5 years ago.

Sometimes I get abit paranoid that she's prettier than me. But I never say anything to him. Because he's choosen me. But i think she just made me paranoid saying he compares me.

I am silly. It just freaked me out. I really hope she's wrong. She's only on esty. So nobody huge. I just did it for no reason other than hopefully a positive thing.

Bulldoglady · 11/01/2021 08:22

Of course they’re all fake!

BertieBotts · 11/01/2021 08:22

A lot of tarot readers are good judges of character/skilled in counselling.

I had a tarot reader warn me about a boyfriend as well and she was right. I would have a look at some red flag lists and see if you recognise anything, and/or try a few boundary tests, I wish I could remember where I read about this so I can copy and paste. I'll have a look and if I can't find it, I'll come back and summarise.

MiniTheMinx · 11/01/2021 08:23

Yes I think there are lots of charlatans. Ignore it OP.

I don't know why she has shown you lots of 'bad characters' The cards need to be read within the context of the cards around it.

I read playing cards. Have done so for years. I always use the same speed, and sometimes the cards read right to left, sometimes left to right. So you can't read left to right or the same order interpreting the individual cards in isolation to each other. If you do you end up with a jumble of utter nonsense.

AlternativePerspective · 11/01/2021 08:23

My experience was that she told me things in such detail that she couldn't have made them up as a one size fits all. She didn't hesitate either but read the cards like she was reading a book of my life. it’s called a cold reading. There is no truth to it what so ever, and you will have inadvertently given her details without realising it.

If you had a recording of it you could go back over it and then be surprised at the number of things she got wrong.

Go and look up how Darren Brown debunked this kind of thing.

Anyone who goes to one of these people and claims they’ve been told their life story has been had.
