Are tarot readers all fake

Erm a tarot reader told me my new relationship is bringing loads of warning cards out. She said there's another women in his life and he's unfairly comparing us.
She then said she pulled 7 of swords out of both decks and told me to look the card up but it's normally a negative card.

So I looked up the card and it's lies. Theft. Cheating etc.

She also said she can't see log term yet for us but he has good intentions. But told me to be wary and it won't be easy with him.

I just wondered how tarot cards work? How on earth can she see such negative things? I thought she'd be more focused on me but tore the man I'm with to shreds.

Thank you.

*Readings

Sorry I should have added, I do 100% think many charlatans take advantage of people, particularly when they're vulnerable, lonely or grieving etc, and try to rinse them. They vastly overcharge, simply tell them what they think they want to hear, or don't actually know the full nuances involved in a full reading, and are talking out of their arses a lot as a result. I met one of these in a bar on holiday, nothing he said resonated with me at all, and he interpreted the cards quite differently to how I would have, that's the one and only time I've paid for a reading (though I don't know what else I expected for €5).

I also feel immediately suspicious of anyone who claims to be a medium too.

I don't know if they are fake but I had a tarot card deck that I was messing around with, I don't really believe in it but I find them cool and I was doing a reading for a family friend and the cards laid something out like "new life but will die" sort of thing and I was like well that's grim I'm not gonna tell her that and then she posted on Facebook a few days later that she had a miscarriage, I didn't even know she was pregnant. Never touched them again.

Yes.

I read the cards for years for friends and family. I don't anymore because people came to rely on them and my advice and I hated seeing negative things and not knowing whether to say it or not. It's a horrible thing when someone comes to you asking about one thing but you see something else that's not good. That happened a lot and was right too often. I do read for myself occasionally if I'm very worried about something.

Hoppinggreen · 11/01/2021 12:38

It’s utter bollocks but harmless as pure entertainment
If you end up spending loads of money or making choices you would never usually based on what they tell you then it’s dangerous and should be avoided

Xerochrysum · 11/01/2021 12:39

I like fortune telling stuff, but it's just a bit of fun. I won't decide my life from it.

LunaNorth · 11/01/2021 12:39

£6.95? Five minutes?!

It takes me five minutes to discuss one card! At least!

A reading takes me an hour and a half, and I don’t charge a penny.

God, there are some unscrupulous fuckers out there.

BurtonHouse · 11/01/2021 12:52

I saw one once, who had been highly recommended by a couple of workmates.
She told me I had no man on my life at the moment and it would be a while until i met Mr. Right. In fact I had 3, and have been married to one of them for over 30 years.
I know of another who does on-line readings who is as mad as a box of frogs, has any number of cautions for threatening behaviour and restraining orders. So take your chance if you must ......

Thanks for all the interesting replies. I think I went to her for something positive looking ahead if I'm honest. I am 100% at a crossroads in my life. I've seperated from a long term relationship because we just were no longer in love in many ways.

I realised my whole life I've played safe. Been a people pleaser. Tried to please my parents by being settled and sensible.

I've met someone who is more my cup of tea. He's funny. He's alpha. He's romantic but can also be silly. He's been through some tough times and he's had to change his ways massively to get where he is. He's wise in my view. He's lived enough to understand life and he's lived fully. He's a character that I can't explain on here. But I feel so safe and relaxed in his company. Like I've never felt before.

I feel like he's been open and honest with me. This is the biggest change I've ever made in my life though and I think I just wanted to hear that eventually people will accept and be happy that Ive left my ex. They I'll be supported going forward. That we will get to easier times.

Sorry I feel I need to explain why I was curious.

I've loved the replies and reading through them.

Sorry not RTFT but derrin brown did somethjng with zodiac readings and everyone said they reflected them and their lives and they got stuff out of it

They all had exactly the same text

Ignore it, go with your own instincts and don't let some random strange jeopardise your relationship

UpShutTheFuck · 11/01/2021 13:18

He sounds like a nice guy and I hope things go well for you OP.

Does he know that you are considering basing your future on some picture cards?

Yes. All voodoo and claptrap.

I think that tarot cards can be a useful tool for meditation or counselling, but that's about it.
