(That's only one tonight of course ... bloody autocorrect!)

Frownette · 23/01/2021 15:55

I thought you were singing Phil Collins!

Silkiechickscat · 23/01/2021 15:55

I'd didn't wake up until 1.46pm though didn't get to sleep until 7.30am so only 6 hours sleep, DH was still asleep and had slept since 3.30am which was a more impressive 10 hours.

DD and DS then bought me the rabbit to our bedroom. He was very cute but just eating as usual and the kids were joking about how he is now a perfect sphere.

Then it snowed for 15 minutes.

We are having a roast dinner tonight and just had a quick lunch.

DD has finally taken the new printer she said she urgently needed six months ago and is setting it up. Glad its getting used now.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/01/2021 16:28

To add some spice to my life I have sorted through our medications and set up 2 of those wooden boxes IKEA used to sell.
Every little drawer now has a label indicating what the content is used for (pain, colds, nausea, UTI etc.)

Congratulations, @nancybotwinbloom!

We have had a varied day today. DS had a zoom birthday party, which (combined with the Haribo provided) sent him to new heights of hysteria. Have you all seen the bit in the second Shaun the Sheep movie where the little alien gets into to pick and mix sweeties? Well, it was just like that 😲

We then had further excitement when a parcel was delivered - a set of small planets to hang from his bedroom ceiling. Unfortunately the rip-off blutac provided was rubbish, so shortly after I had teetered around on a stool putting this in orbit around the ceiling light, Neptune fell on my head while I was reading a story to DS. This was a bit of a surprise, but I have now bolstered the putty stuff with some sticky tape so I’m hoping to avoid further sneak attacks by celestial bodies. If it happens to me in the middle of the night, I myself may need to be removed from the ceiling...

We have then had a walk and were watching Farmaggedon (Shaun the Sheep!), but the Apple TV went on strike. So now we’ve switched to Howl’s Moving Castle, which we have on dvd. Very cold here today and we’re running low on firewood, so I’m about to fetch a blanket so we can hold off on the fire until later.

Frownette · 23/01/2021 16:52

You both sound shattered silkie. And I thought my sleep was bad!

I got impatient in the end and woke him up to put down my bed. Catnaps ahoy (eventually). I'm too tired to fall asleep..!

@nancybotwinbloom that's brilliant, well done, when is the start date?

EggyPegg · 23/01/2021 17:03

Went for a walk in the woods with DS1. He made friends with a gorgeous rough collie (Lassie dog) named Cassie. They had a lovely time running around together abd her owner and I just chatted about nothing. It was nice to have some social interaction with someone new.

I went for it and cut 11 inches off my hair before going out. I'm still waiting for DH to notice.

My finger is where it was whilst in braids. It already feels lighter and this length feels more manageable in braids as it's not getting caught in my zip. I'm unbothered whether it's completely straight. It wasn't that even to start with.

mathanxiety · 23/01/2021 17:09

I'm going grocery shopping today because we are possibly going to get 6-8 inches of snow over Monday and Tuesday. DD3 is going to lend a hand.

My sleep was disturbed by Dcat, who has decided that my bed is the place to be on chilly nights. She came and went all night and every time she returned, settling down involved comprehensive grooming.

Now to catch up on the thread.

Frownette · 23/01/2021 17:30

Looks great, Eggy :)

Spudlet · 23/01/2021 17:33

Looks good @EggyPegg!

HelenaJustina · 23/01/2021 17:43

Very impressed with your bravery! @EggyPegg

Silkiechickscat · 23/01/2021 18:27

Looks good Eggy My DD after teasing me about cutting my own suddenly did hers one day from very long to quite short bob length, it looked really good but DH didn't notice. After 24 hours we pointed it out to him then he claimed to have noticed but not known what to say (but hadn't said anything to DD and I and he's not known for being polite).

Spudlet · 23/01/2021 19:25

We’ve got snow here! Just a light sprinkling.

I’m going to get DH to drop me off a mile up the road tomorrow at the head of a footpath - I can then make a nice 10k loop back home again. It takes in one of my favourite sections of path in both directions, so quite looking forward to it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/01/2021 19:45

DH wants me to cut his hair at the back (he does the rest) - I have never done this. All I have done until now is same length all over with the machine.

Frownette · 23/01/2021 19:48

Quite a lot of runners here! I just won again on my Lidl scratchcard: 50p off!

I've been a moron and flicked off the top of my concealer :(

Can't see it so I think its gone under the mattress. This means I have to get the mattress frame up again, oh joy. Need to make sure help is on hand before I start. I can get it up, I can't get it down. Not tall enough to have the leverage.

EggyPegg · 23/01/2021 20:24

I couldn't find the scratchcards in the Lidl app when I looked.

Nice going on your 50p off. At Lidl prices, that's a fair amount.

I went to Lidl yesterday for hot dog buns, cat food and chocolate chips. They didn't have hot dog buns (they never seem to) so I went to the B&M up the road. In doing so have finally found a hot dog bun that is the perfect size for the Aldi jarred hot dogs.

EggyPegg · 23/01/2021 20:26

Not tall enough to have the leverage.

I feel your pain. I'm 5'0. I can get around most things, but some things are literally out of reach.

I just put Netflix on. EggyCat1 is sat on my lap grooming. The TV was louder than I thought and the Netflix bong caused her to visably jump.

EggyPegg · 23/01/2021 20:29

Thanks all for the lovely words. I have removed the braids and it doesn't look too bad. It was weird brushing it and washing it, but even sat here with it loose and drying, it feels much lighter, so I'm happy.

Frownette · 23/01/2021 20:31

EggyPegg they should show if you click on 'Lidl card' when you go into the app?

The concealer cap was under the mattress frame, I need to stop being so clumsy.

What are you watching on Netflix? I was thinking about joining but looks like second month only is free

soddingkitten · 23/01/2021 20:46

I cleared ice off the surface of my new bird bath this morning. I’m not sure whether the birds have found it yet. Anyone that flew in to try it first thing would have had a free skating session.

We had an Indian takeaway delivered for dinner tonight, our first since early last summer. Afterwards, DS1 (15, hollow legs) said that Indian food is the only kind that fills him up.

Frownette · 23/01/2021 20:49

Might be the mix of carbs sodding kitten, did you have things like rice/naan/potato dish?

soddingkitten · 23/01/2021 21:18

Yes, he had pilau rice and half a naan with his curry. And a poppadom. 🤔

EggyPegg · 23/01/2021 21:53

I've just googled as I still couldn't find them. They go on after purchases. And I've been too lazy to get my phone out and scan it did my last couple of shops. So I don't have any.

I'm watching season 13 of RuPaul's Drag Race. I know it's a MN cardinal sin to be entertained by Drag Queens, but I bloody love the escapism and the drama. I'm still enjoying Desperate Housewives on Prime (more escapism and drama), but I've got a new episods of Drag Race to watch tonight.

I'm sat in my room watching it and ignoring the laundry that needs putting away in favour of cuddles with EggyCat1.

Tonight I have been making photo postcards to send to family. I signed up to Touchnote in November for their two free trial postcards. Apparently I forgot to cancel it and paid £35 for an annual membership in December (which I've only just realised)

I've got a load of cards stacked up waiting so I've done one with a message on the front for a friend who is going through cancer treatment to let her know I'm thinking of her, and one with the DC on which I've sent to various grandparents.

Silkiechickscat · 23/01/2021 22:11

Just had a roast dinner and a glass of coke. DH collected the indoor postbox I ordered to catch the mail as the rabbit keeps eating mail.

sproutsandparsnips · 23/01/2021 23:46

Just had ft quiz with my parents who we haven't seen since September. We try and do one each week and have a glass or two.
DH made a Mary Berry chicken korma for tea after our 6 mile walk down the canal. Saw a heron!
