Congrats Nancy

DD is in the air cadets and loves it but not on since last March now.

Just drinking a hot milk and had 2 ripple bars. Had a nice bath.

Frownette · 23/01/2021 06:19

Hot milk sounds nice...I only have a smidgen of milk left though so will have to make do with tea before I go to the shop. I've got a carton of whole milk UHT in but like to have it there.

I'm about to lift up my bed and retrieve my hair straighteners from under bed storage. It's a devil to get the mattress frame back down though so I have to bear in mind no more catnaps for me once it's up. Or hijack the sofa?

Silkiechickscat · 23/01/2021 06:29

I'm on Rightmove buying imaginary holiday homes. I suggested to DH we put the single bed up in the dining room with a duvet for the cat as she used to have a normal bed to herself at old house and she's been loud again tonight. She loved her own bed. I'm not sure she has long left but DH says she will never die and she is wise to worship him.

soddingkitten · 23/01/2021 06:32

Brilliant news Nancy. Well done!

I went to bed earlier than usual last night but then woke up at 5am. This has happened before many times.

I had a great dream last night about clothes shopping. I bought some lovely new clothes, but the sequinned shoes I bought were pinching and I was going to return them. In the real world I need new jeans and leggings, but the shop I usually buy from has gone into administration due to COVID and has no stock left in my size. 🤷

Frownette · 23/01/2021 06:34

Are you really worried about her health? Does she seem ok physically? It sounds like a nice idea setting up a little bed for her, I did that as a child for my cat, I've got a brilliant pic of her tucked up underneath a mini duvet with a mini jug of milk next to her.

Have you had a bad night's sleep?

Silkiechickscat · 23/01/2021 06:56

I haven't slept yet Grin

She passed all the health checks at the vets £1k of them Shock, eats well, grooms etc - I thought she was blind but vet said she passed eye test fine and followed it. So I think it must be dementia as she gets lost on way to food and now will only stay in one room with a food bowl next to her. She's very happy in the day purring and cuddling. Vets only suggestion was put to sleep if she's not happy but she seems happy in the day and mostly sleeps at night, its just when she wakes she howls as she's confused and DH isn't there. She used to sleep on top of him on our bed but if he brings her upstairs now she runs off but nothing has changed and she goes to the one room. The vet said last year she could last between weeks and a few years. She's annoying at night but we all agreed we will miss her howling when she is no longer with us. Will try a single bed. I wonder if we should leave something of DH's there as well, she'ld ideally like DH with her all night, she wants to be next to him 24/7 but only in the dining room and he does not want to sleep in the dining room. She's fast asleep now but had DD and DH down for cuddles at 3am then 5am.

Silkiechickscat · 23/01/2021 07:02

Do you sleep at night at the moment? You always seem to be up with me in the night. I cannot switch my brain off from the house sale and worrying about the kids - DS is very happy but is hard to teach, DD learns well but she said she cried 4 times last week and said she never cried all of 2020. Sad So I have been thinking of things for her tonight.

Silkiechickscat · 23/01/2021 07:05

Oh just looked at the weather we have heavy snow predicted for Sunday Grin but will need to keep eye on silkie chickens.

Deathraystare · 23/01/2021 07:16

Sorry to hear about your cat @Silkiechickscat.

Until I read your message about a cat I thought your name was Silkie Chick Scat!

Well I am doing an 'early' at work again. I never sleep well anyway but particularly not on an 'early' day. Even though I put the alarm on , I never need it as I am up before the alarm. Had to get a move on as I was watching that show about the dinner parties (forgotten what it is called). Happy as I saw Great. I had missed it earlier and watch Back which I had not seen. Amazing what is on in the early hours!

Amazingly no one else got on mu bus and I got a seat. Since Covid passengers amount has tripled on my bus. Got another bus cos it goes outside the back way to the hospital and I was the only one to get on there too. Yay!

My swab test was negative again and I am having the vaccination soon.

Deathraystare · 23/01/2021 07:18

Well done on the job @Nancybotwinbloom!

Frownette · 23/01/2021 07:24

silkie I can be an erratic sleeper too, don't think it was too bad last night as I got to sleep very early and woke up 4am-ish.

It can be very hard to sleep with a lot on your mind.

Right I'm having a 15 minute snuggle in my bed then the mattress frame comes up, I'll pack and get off to court (it's only to drop off some things, doubt I'll be allowed in/allowed to speak, but might be sitting around for hours so I'm taking laptop, phone, A4 pad and flask of coffee)

Champagneforeveryone · 23/01/2021 07:33

thank goodness for that suitably dull update frownette. Yesterday's mention of court was a little much excitement at the moment Grin

I'm home from a night shift and am going to take the DPuppies for a walk (once it's light) It's going to be cold all day and I will have no inclination to get out of my warm bed to take DDog3 (who I suppose should now be DDog2 Sad) out as she flatly refuses to go out with DH in case he doesn't see a heron in time

It's currently minus 2 so I will click the electric blanket on when I'm on my way back and go to bed feeling very virtuous.

Champagneforeveryone · 23/01/2021 07:35

And also, I should point out that it was pure coincidence I so nosily asked frownette about court, then commented on her reply ten minutes after she posted. I promise I haven't been frantically refreshing the thread all night Grin

Nydj · 23/01/2021 08:13

That great, congratulations @nancybotwinbloom! When do you start? Will you be wfh at the moment?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/01/2021 08:31

Nancy well done!

It was 11c yesterday now is 2c and raining.
We overslept, which is my fault because I use an alarm and DH doesn't. He needs the sleep, though he denies it.

HildaTablet · 23/01/2021 08:35

Congratulations on the job, nancybotwinbloom. Nice to hear a piece of good news at the moment.

Last night we were very excited (possibly too excited for this thread) because the first delivery of a new veg box I've ordered was due to arrive. It comes in the evening and can even be left overnight so DH and I checked periodically before we went to bed, feeling slightly disappointed that it hadn't come.

We were half-expecting a phone-call because we live off a main road in a slightly tucked-away spot and delivery people usually can't find us

HelenaJustina · 23/01/2021 09:17

Congratulations @nancybotwinbloom Flowers

I got home at a reasonable time yesterday but was unreasonably exhausted and so was in bed by 9pm.

I’m waiting for it to defrost a bit before going for a run. Boring explanation follows: when the flood water is shallow enough, cars drive through and it streams all over the surrounding roads. When it freezes, like last night, this results in sheet ice everywhere.

Whatever you say Champers Grin

Congratulations @nancybotwinbloom

Did we ever find out why superglue was needed for pants?

Squirrel26 · 23/01/2021 09:52

Finding it hard to get moving this morning.
I had a dream that you now had to book a slot if you wanted to swim in the sea. Shock (it was summer). Also that I’d bought some pyjamas and was planning to sue the manufacturer because they were too small (not sure why I felt so strongly that this was their fault...)

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/01/2021 11:01

@squirrel24
I thought everybody knew that too tight clothing is the fault of those little calories coming out at night to tighten the seams, or am I wrong Smile?

I have just cleaned a 80x120 cm sheet of glass - outside in the rain.

TenCornMaidens · 23/01/2021 11:41

Congratulations @nancybotwinbloom!
DH took down some outside lights and we will put them in the loft later.

Sorted through some things to get rid of, including a bizarre amount of shoes. No charity shops open means I guess we put them on Facebook? Not very good at selling things but that is always an option.

Really really want to declutter and reorganise my home office but I think that is because I have lots of studying to do and I am procrastinating.

DD made some JusRol pain au chocolates this morning - helped to get the day off on the right foot after mucho tears last night about school.

And if you're on a cruise, sea air is notorious for shrinking clothing.

Frownette · 23/01/2021 14:31

Oh my gosh got back absolutely shattered bearing lobster and flowers.

I can't get my bed down but He Himself is fast asleep on the sofa and I don't want to wake him, guess I'll have to take a catnap on the floor for now. I'll read what everyone has been up to in a bit :)

MissConductUS · 23/01/2021 14:56

Welcome, @nancybotwinbloom, and thanks for sharing your wonderful employment news!

@EggyPegg, I agree with others, get the diagnosis now. In addition to being language delayed, which caused all sorts of ripple effects when DS was in the early school years, I suspected ADHD. The school did a bit of testing, but couldn't really say one way or another. So we had him evaluated privately, he did have moderate ADHD, and after lots of meetings with the school and the educational psychologist we hired we got him additional services and accommodations, some of which have carried right through to uni. He gets additional time to take tests, a quiet testing setting, and access to class notes. It's really helped him to succeed.

I've bought a stationary exercise bike so I'm going to have a go at putting it together. Or I may just wait until DH does it. I need a lower impact option to running thanks to my torn ligament. I'm not going to stop running though, just alternate between the two.

I'm sorry your cat is having a rough time @Silkiechickscat. Even when they're a bit of a bother you still love them.

Thanks for your thoughts Labobo, Frownette and EggyPegg.
Today is much better and I've been watching the (pitiful attempt at) snow - through the window I hasten to add.
I love my exercise bike MissConduct and like to have a YouTube cycling video on the tv when I am using it. So I might really be stationary at home in northwest England, but I feel as if I'm riding along the Coleman Valley Road in California, looking across at the Pacific Ocean; I'm not sure where I'll go next Grin.
We are having a Sunday roast lunch for tea tonighttonight. Because.
