Good morning, I hope everbody is as well and calm as possible.
Woke up with a slight migraine, temperatures are getting warmer again.
Perhaps I call in sick or take a 'time' day.

The wood pigeon has arrived and is waiting for food.

soddingkitten · 20/01/2021 07:02

Thought I'd found superglue to mend DS'S pants, but the tube was empty

There’s no way you can leave this gem hanging! Please explain. 🙏

I am working from home today and looking forward to watching the US presidential inauguration at 5.00pm. We’ll have an easy dinner tonight to leave more time for viewing.

EggyPegg · 20/01/2021 07:05

Also needing to know more about the superglue/pants situation.

I too am looking forward to watching the inauguration and woke up mid dream about it, Trumps self organised leaving party and CNN.

Gliblet · 20/01/2021 07:12

@Silkiechickscat

Issues with house sale all yesterday so got none of the learning done with DS. He was supposed to be in school but they withdrew the place Monday night until at least Friday. DS doesn't seem to want to go either as its not normal school but he won't do much at home either.

Glad your DD is settled MissC - that's the sort of thing DH would do forget to tell me DD messaged.

Just having a hot milk. Rabbit was super happy today and bouncing around as all his things were super clean. Cat is the same when you clean round the house she sits on everything you've just cleaned and blinks at you.

We call our dog the Laundry Dragon - instead of sleeping on a pile of gold, he's obsessed with sleeping on clean laundry I genuinely think he would walk over hot coals to curl up on any clean laundry left on a flat or flattish surface.

Still really windy here, I've woken up with a headache two days in a row and the metal arches in our garden are at a 45 degree angle again this morning. I'll be ordering some electric fencing stakes to try and shore them up a bit.

Frownette · 20/01/2021 07:34

Laundry Dragon Grin

That must be cute but frustrating. No-one wants hairy laundry.

When's your planned finish date, silkie?

Prok take the time off if you feel rough.

It was very rainy here when I woke up (after nearly a normal night's sleep) and I've had a lovely breakfast of grapefruit, then toasted nan with spiced sour cream dip, chopped egg, tomatoes, cucumber and pickles. No idea which nationality breakfast that might be, vaguely Turkish?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/01/2021 07:56

I mailed in sick, orgnised work and am now back in bed listening to a YT rain video.

Spudlet · 20/01/2021 08:04

I dreamed I was the new White House press secretary the other night. I can’t possibly imagine a job I’d be less well suited to (journos give me the jitters!) but I was quite happy in my dream.

Frownette · 20/01/2021 08:06

Good lass!

I just won £1 on a Lidl scratchcard in their app. I beamed, I never win anything. I think I shall spend my winnings on a pack of peppers. Snuggled up with a filter coffee now before I shower. The wind and rain are bad outside.

EggyPegg · 20/01/2021 08:28

I've been watching CNN in the background this morning. The chatter is surprisingly soothing.

The DC don't go into school on a Wednesday as the school were overwhelmed with requests for that day. This means the only person I need to get ready this morning is me. It has been a very relaxed morning so far. I've even had time to braid my hair rather than throwing back in a rough bun thing. I was tempted to get the scissors out again though. It's too long.

Good to hear you are taking the day Prok. Be a sloth all day.

@Frownette, I'm now going to look at my Lidl app for scratchcards. I didn't know they were on there.

Frownette · 20/01/2021 08:55

Eggy they're quite fun actually, hope you win!

Getting a bit confused here, so if I have 15 credits towards postgraduate study this means I only need 15 - 25 more to get a master's degree? I didn't set out to do that, just obeyed study instructions but it's affiliated with a uni

sueelleker · 20/01/2021 09:01

Had a text from our GP yesterday to book a Covid vaccination for my DH (He's over 75 AND vulnerable) He's got an appointment for Saturday. I did ask if there was any chance of me getting one early, as I'm his carer, but I'll have to wait for my time band. Worth a try anyway.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/01/2021 09:36

Pain meds have kicked in, yay!

I am always suprised what Aldi and Lidl sell in the UK ( scratch cards, medication).

On the very very remote chance for a vaccination for me, I have added my Impfpass to the stuff I carry in my bag.

Frownette · 20/01/2021 09:42

Prok that's good you can rest up. I haven't seen any pharmacies in any Lidl/Aldi? They sell some OTC stuff though.

Scratchcards are only in the app if you use it, a bit of free fun

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/01/2021 10:02

Frownette
Even OTC stuff is sold in pharmacies by trained staff only (with information on proper dosage and questions about symptoms and cross medication). I once was firmly told to go and see a professional, a good thing as it turned out.

I have put a 60° load on - but without haste Smile

Nydj · 20/01/2021 10:38

So glad your DD is settled in well @MissConductUS and that the meds have started working @Prokupatuscrakedatus - hopefully, you will be able to make the most of the rest of your day off.

It is very wet here so I did not go for a walk before starting work today (wfh).

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/01/2021 11:12

It started to rain again - the forecast says storm, but it is not here yet.

DS told me he now wants a fotobook of his first 18 years, too, and I have ordered him a chair for his new workplace.

HelenaJustina · 20/01/2021 11:23

Weather foul here, got wet and cold on early morning gate duty. Have just lost an hour of my life attending a DfE briefing webinar... am pondering asking for an early finish today, will see what the next couple of hours brings.

Frownette · 20/01/2021 12:37

Doesn't sound much fun getting cold and wet. I've got all my doctor stuff done, waiting for my zoom meeting 1pm so watching hunger games, 3rd movie.

Not really watching tbh more being vacant.

MissConductUS · 20/01/2021 14:16

@Frownette, DD's uni is on the outskirts of a medium-sized town in a mostly rural county. The campus is about 800 acres, so very wooded and beautiful, with lovely mountain views.

We're all very glad that she's settled in as well, thanks all for your good wishes. She's a very confident, competent young woman, so I was never terribly concerned that she'd have trouble coping with the transition.

Since the inauguration is at noon I'm hoping to be able to watch the lives stream. The long national nightmare is almost over.

SpudsandGravy · 20/01/2021 14:25

Wet again, here. Still steadily working my way through Grey's Anatomy on Prime (mid series 12 now). Cat sleeping beside me. Thinking about a walk in the rain with an audiobook, but odds are I'll just stay here, and maybe refill the hot water bottle at some point.

HildaTablet · 20/01/2021 14:39

A horrible day here too, no chance of a walk. I can't settle at all and have been fiddling around aimlessly, but I did at least finally manage to make a rough pattern from a favourite pair of stretch lounging pants so I can make (or at least try to make) another pair or two. I was going to send away for some but predictably, every shop seems to be sold out because everyone's permanently in loungewear at the moment.

Now I just have to find some cheap stretch fabric to make a test pair before I commit to anything more expensive. So it's not exactly a quick solution.

Just listened to Trump's farewell speech (!!) and am contemplating tea and something to nibble on while watching CNN.

Spudlet · 20/01/2021 14:46

Grey and miserable here - I’ve had the lights on all day as it just hasn’t been light enough to see! Feeling a bit grim and hopeless, but trying to chug through it as best I can. Took ddog for a walk and had just managed to get myself into a slightly better frame of mind when I met a neighbour who proceeded to share all the most miserable news he could, so that helped 🤷‍♀️ Now watching Paddington with DS and contemplating eating some lunch. I’ve sort of gone past being hungry now though.

sueelleker · 20/01/2021 15:13

Just found 3 black bananas I'd forgotten about, so I'm making some banana bread. It also uses yogurt, so I've used the rest of the Easi Yo that I made the other day.

Silkiechickscat · 20/01/2021 15:14

Done history, geography and french with DS.

Champagneforeveryone · 20/01/2021 15:17

I've just had my first ever Teams meeting from home (I do have them in work) DH has been happily Zooming for church for months and DS uses a combination for online 6th form. I had to appear really nonchalant about the whole thing till I had managed to get in. It was very odd to hear work business in my own sitting room Grin

All over now and an 8hr shift to get through, before my isolation officially ends at 2359hrs. I was tempted to take DDogs for a night walk, but the weather is that vile that I cannot muster much enthusiasm even after 268 days in the house Hmm
