I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

@Spudlet, I'd have gone rogue and just used the 7 and hoped for the best. We sometimes use linseeds (flaxseeds) instead of eggs. Roughly a tablespoon of linseeds is equivalent to one egg if you've run out/need to top up in future.

I also particularly enjoyed your use of vexing. It is an underused word.

DS1 has come out of school as Dr. Jekyll today, which is nice. It's rather peaceful at Eggy Towers this afternoon. DS1 is watching stunt scooter and funny cat videos on YouTube on his Kindle, DS2 is playing Roblox and occasionally telling us about his pets, DH is working, and I have finally hit my stride on the assignment that is due on Thursday.

@MissConductUS. She's gone away and left it behind. I think it's only right that you eat it.

soddingkitten · 18/01/2021 17:07

@MissConductUS

They've gone. So it's just me and the cats for the day. I think I'm going to clean out the big freezer in the garage as it's rammed and I'm sure there's a lot of old things in there that should be thrown out binned.

The picture is Dboycat, watching CatTV, shortly after DH, DD and DS headed out. There is a bird on the feeder if you look closely.

I wish I had a Penguin. Sad

This would send Sodding mad. He sits on the kitchen windowsill doing his unsettling “I’m gonna get you sucker!” chittering cat swearing as it is and the birds are only flying past. He’d be yowling if the garden birds were tormenting him by landing on a feeder.

We have Penguins in the cupboard. Or we did last time I looked. With two gannets boys currently at home 24/7, they are Schrodinger’s Penguins.

soddingkitten · 18/01/2021 17:16

With your DD flown, the freezer emptying workout and no chance at a Chick-a-fil lunch of your own, I think you should have that slice of mousse cake MissC. It seems only fair and proper.

MissConductUS · 18/01/2021 17:25

Sodding Dboycat chitters at the birds too. I think he's imitating bird songs, hoping to lure them closer.

I have a 20-year-old, 6'1' young man in the house. I know all about food disappearing. I think we made money on the dining plan when he was at uni.

I'll have a slice of cake when I'm done making pancakes. Grin

The cake would indeed be offended if you ignored its charms.

Spudlet · 18/01/2021 18:00

@EggyPegg I have some ground flaxseeds, so do I just tip a tablespoon in then per missing egg? This is not something I knew I could do!

Silkiechickscat · 18/01/2021 18:22

The Deputy Head has now cancelled DS's school place though says he can come in on Friday and they are now full before. DS knows the Deputy Head doesn't like him and it made him laugh. Would imagine they will suddenly become full again Thursday night. There's 10 in the group he's being added to with 1 teacher and 1 TA in a big library. Normally there's 33 in a small classroom with 1 teacher. DS seems to want to stay home though was very sleepy again today so another day of me doing all his work for him. I went through a quick summary of key points with him in about 20 minutes but he just kept sleeping.

DH is playing piano. I was up all night reading through his lessons/sorting house things etc and have to log-on all day for him but have had a nap since but still feel very tired. DH is about to start his online piano lesson, she always tells him off but he seems to like them.

MissConductUS · 18/01/2021 18:40

Inspired by yesterdays kitchen cabinet photos, here's one of the freezer. This is after the clean out. I neglected to take a before picture.

I've been sorting out boxes of stuff as DH has put flooring all over our small loft space. We get half each and if I can get enough things off my shelves I will have enough room to keep all my steampunk hats together.

Sunbird24 · 18/01/2021 18:44

My boss asked me to send him the report I wrote about a visit we had in October. I haven’t written the report. I didn’t tell him I hadn’t written the report. Tonight I have to write the report. 🤦‍♀️

Frownette · 18/01/2021 18:55

Err, no, I haven't done any sorting, you are my organised delegates Blush

I could take a pic of one of my food cupboards but it's definitely a before one.

It feels cold now, although met office says 9° but feels like 7°, I got a hot water bottle. I've been up approx 24 hours and have got tons done so not too bothered if I crash shortly. Someone asked me earlier what had happened to me over past month as I look so much better. I was too tired to react much so just shrugged and said I was happy.

EggyPegg · 18/01/2021 19:15

Yes. It's something I discovered when I was vegan (I was vegan for 2 years, and went back to being veggie last year).

To substitute eggs, you add a level tablespoon of water to a heaped tablespoon of linseeds and mix and leave in a bowl. It will sort of set as they absorb the water. Only takes 30 seconds or so. 1 heaped tbs is roughly 1 egg. It acts as a binding agent in the same way egg does. Then add it to your mix in the same way.
I'm a maverick and throw it in dry if the recipe already has wet ingredients. I only do the premixing if the rest is dry.

Spudlet · 18/01/2021 19:17

Oooh, thanks @EggyPegg, I’ll give that a go tomorrow. DS will enjoy the process I’m sure!

May I also just say that the nominative determinism of your username in this baking scenario pleases me greatly Grin

Frownette · 18/01/2021 19:23

Is the rest of your household vegetarian @EggyPegg? I think January's a vegan month so supermarkets should have loads of deals

EggyPegg · 18/01/2021 19:32

@Spudlet Grin I hadn't even made that association.

@Frownette, just me, but DH is taking advantage of these new Veganary products and buying me plenty of new lovely things. I've been vegetarian since I was 12 (now 38), and went vegan in early 2018. I was considering going back to veggie last year, and then we went to Austria and there was strudel. Totally worth it.

HelenaJustina · 18/01/2021 19:44

Nominative determinism is one of my favourite things. New Scientist put me in to it more than a few years ago now.

@Sunbird24 can you remember what happened in October? I can barely remember what I had for breakfast yesterday at this stage... good luck with it!

Sunbird24 · 18/01/2021 20:10

@HelenaJustina the hardest part is getting started! Fortunately I’ve got some bullet pointed notes, so am using those and adding a bit of ‘corporate speak’ to flesh them out and make it look like I know what I’m talking about. I’ve already done my first two and final paragraphs, just got to do the meat of the report now but it could be a late night...

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 18/01/2021 20:12

Nominative determinism - I had a google. So I should heavily gravitate either towards farming, hermitage (is that a word?) or cloisters? Hmm

MissConductUS · 18/01/2021 20:19

DH and DS have returned from Massachusetts. They said DD seemed a bit stressed but was coping. I have to leave shortly for a dental cleaning and to let the periodontist marvel at my broken implant.

I used eight eggs when I made the pancakes. I don't think DS would have approved substituting flax seeds.

halfpasteleven · 18/01/2021 22:55

Good luck with the report @Sunbird24 I'd need bullet points to start me off too if I had to write about October from memory..
Hope the appointment goes well @MissConductUS.

Worked from home today and home schooled - am v v tired!

Silkiechickscat · 19/01/2021 00:23

Silkiecat has just howled DH about 5 minutes after he came to bed, its 12.20am and a new day so where is her first breakfast? Angry He's just gone downstairs to give it to her, her bowl is already full. Hmm

Silkiechickscat · 19/01/2021 00:27

DH said she just wanted DH cuddles as she hadn't had them for 5 minutes and each time he went within a metre of her she did one purr to encourage him to stroke her - she has a special bruup sound for the first purr.

Frownette · 19/01/2021 02:06

@Sunbird24 did you remember your smoothie?

@NotanotherboxofFrogs I missed that first time round, do you usually feel the cold so badly? I did earlier but have readjusted now. It's raining heavily here.

I only have study tomorrow and need to drop off a form at the doctors and contact IT about extra equipment (it has to be signed off) so an easy day.

@MissConductUS are you excited about inauguration? I had a catnap this evening then woke up and had spaghetti with tomato sauce and melted cheese, it was surpringly nice for something which should be on the kids' menu.

It really sounds like silkiecat gets separation angst?

Silkiechickscat · 19/01/2021 04:53

Silkiecat gets angry when she can hear DH talking to anyone but her, DH belongs to Silkiecat and he is not to be shared except for on video call as then DH is clearly calling to show others how beautiful she is and how lucky he is to have Silkiecat.

I've just booked a bulky waste collection to get rid of previous owners non-working lawnmower, our old rabbit run and our rather knackered old dining table. Will be on 10 Feb and cost £30, have to leave items out by 6am Shock

Silkiechickscat · 19/01/2021 04:54

I had been trying for about a week to book that collection but kept rejecting. Today I cleared all the cookies and then it went through but now I have to re-log-on all websites.
