I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

@DoctorTwo I guess vomiting was a symptom, what else did you have? You're reminding me of norovirus.

Supper was gorgeous, all the Thai talk on MN made me remember I had some leftover curry paste and coconut milk so I made seafood and spinach Thai curry with rice (even used the rice mould). It would have been better with lime and holy basil but it was still very nice.

After my household efforts earlier I had a slack evening, just cooked and washed up, I can do the floors tomorrow.

Frownette · 16/01/2021 22:52

Do you want to join us in dry January? I took a look at my bank account today and decided I'm having dry February and dry March as well. April is a toss up.

EggyPegg · 16/01/2021 23:30

Cupboard looks fab @QuestionableMouse. I love reorganising our cupboards and am a big fan of jars and baskets.

I gave the living room and hallway a proper spring clean today. Not just a cursory go round with the vacuum, but right in every nook and cranny with the dustpan and brush. My brush has a funky little gadget. A smaller, plastic comb that sits inside a slit on top of the brush. I used it many times today to get right into the corners. I am ashamed of how much dust I swept up though not surprised as I can best be described as slovenly

DH won some popcorn on the Sky Rewards app and it was delivered today (pictured). It's fancy popcorn. This is £18 worth. However, I will say that peanut butter popcorn is the greatest flavour of popcorn. No contest. So I claimed that bag as my own. We won't be buying more of if at that price though. Aldi also do a peanut butter flavoured one.

Flowers for Champagne

MissC Hope things go well for your DD and it's not too lonely without her.

DS may have a school place soon, possibly Monday but awaiting full details. Will be much better for DD so she can do GCSE work without screaming the background and for DH on client calls. Gives DS some social contact but not sure how long it will be before the school returns him!

Had a drizzling of snow over the roof today and cat is enjoying her mattress. Can you see how she falls off things? Grin I've been working on trying to save house sale and handle council and managed to catch up English with DS today.

@Silkiechickscat Your beams😍

Sunbird24 · 16/01/2021 23:54

Watching Armageddon with a Nutella sandwich. 24hrs of isolation to go...

EggyPegg · 16/01/2021 23:57

@Sunbird24, funnily enough I was only thinking this afternoon that I fancied watching Armageddon as I've not seen it for ages. I'd asked Alexa to play Aerosmith and 'I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing' was the second song played.

QuestionableMouse · 17/01/2021 00:01

That popcorn looks amazing. Should be foe that price though 😂😂😂

Frownette · 17/01/2021 00:18

@Sunbird24 unless the test is positive!!

How long have you been isolating for now?

Lovely kitchen and beams

Sunbird24 · 17/01/2021 00:46

I’ve been isolating for 9 days now @Frownette. If my test is positive would I need to isolate for another 10 from the date I get the result, or just enough to take it up to 14 days? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Frownette · 17/01/2021 00:50

I'm not sure, it's confusing - if by any chance you're positive, which you're likely not, check with 119

Sunbird24 · 17/01/2021 00:55

Yeah, hoping my results come through in the morning! They’re expecting me back in work on Monday... Kind of don’t really want to go, lost my mojo!

Littlelilyx · 17/01/2021 00:57

Aww so crap ey! My interesting news is that I’ve painted mine and my daughters toes aha

MissConductUS · 17/01/2021 01:32

Welcome, @Littlelilyx, and thanks for your toe painting news.

My goodness, you're all up late again.

We have resolution on the blazer conundrum. DS has been wearing it in his Zoom meetings for his internship, and I decided that the old one is too worn knackered for that, so I found a 50% off discount code for Lands End I ordered him a new one from them. I added a dress shirt for DH and got free shipping too. DH has a navy blazer from Lands End that's really sharp and well made.

@Sunbird24 - the guidance here would be 14 days from testing positive, not receipt of test results.

See that’s okay hunny

Sunbird24 · 17/01/2021 01:48

@MissConductUS I had a look at the NHS website, looks like it’s 19 days from onset of symptoms or taking the test here. It’ll probably be negative anyway, just questioning myself because I’ve had my usual annual bout of bronchitis

Spudlet · 17/01/2021 08:22

@QuestionableMouse Lockdown is definitely harder on DS this time around. First time round he was only at preschool twice a week so was used to lots of time just with us, but this time he’s used to being at school 5 days a week and he’s missing it so much. His behaviour is very trying at the moment - his latest escapade is barging into the bedroom in the small hours and climbing into bed with us Confused He always goes for my side as I’m always confused when I wake up and assume it must be morning and let him in. Then DH has to evict him back to his own bed (with cuddles, but firmness also!) and then it takes us ages to get back to sleep. He did that twice last night so we’re all shattered this morning and rather grumpy...

@DoctorTwo Are you feeling better today? Sounds nasty, whatever it was Sad

@MissConductUS Hope your Dd’s move goes well and you aren’t too bereft. Hugs from across the ocean! I don’t even care if they’re not Mumsnetty, I’m too tired to be bothered Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/01/2021 08:56

Good morning, my back hurts from moving furniture around but the result works. Now on to get DS out of bed and back into working.
I just checked on vaccination groups - teachers and childcare are in group three.

Champagneforeveryone · 17/01/2021 10:08

Morning all,
Day 278 of isolation and all is quiet Wink

Actually all is not quiet right now. DH is doing church on Zoom and there's much raucous laughter as the older contingent try and position themselves in the camera range.

I've been delivered a work laptop so am expected to work from home from 7am tomorrow morning. I'm torn between being glad to have something to do and scandalised about how it will impact on my extended break Grin

Silkiechickscat · 17/01/2021 10:14

School have sent though the details for DS, he looked distinctly unimpressed and I suspect he may stay here. Though he is only half awake atm.

EggyPegg · 17/01/2021 10:30

Hooray for your new setup @Prokupatuscrakedatus

@Champagneforeveryone I'd be torn too. 'I don't care that I was complaining I was bored, that doesn't mean that I want to work!'

@Spudlet does he have an EHCP so you could take up a 'vulnerable' space, even part-time? We've offered spaces to children who don't have one formalised yet, though it's in the process so that they can be in.

This morning DH gave an anguished yell and called me back upstairs. EggyCat2 had hacked up a fur ball and some liquid on our bed, whilst he was sleeping in it much to his horror. The duvet and cover are now in the wash and DH has gone back to sleep with the giant throw that normally lives in the living room. DS1 (who is incapable of sitting on the sofa without a blanket) just came in to ask me where it was and on finding out that DH had it, went to his room and got his own duvet.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/01/2021 11:01

@EggyPegg
Thank you - the difficult task is still ahead of me - getting DS out into the open and into a decent work / free time rythm.

On sentimental news: we found about 50 little alu foil balls. Dcat used to chase after them until they ended up under the furniture, when he would ask for a new one.

HelenaJustina · 17/01/2021 11:10

We’ve been to real live Mass and then walked 3.5 miles home. I feel virtuous that the DC have had fresh air and exercise and I can tick that off today’s list. DH has had his vaccine (healthcare worker bracket) @Prokupatuscrakedatus Education and Childcare workers are conspicuous in their absence from vaccine priority lists here!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/01/2021 11:57

@HelenaJustina
They published the first three groups and to me they make sense covering the extremely vulnerable (inkl. trisomie 21 and my severly autistic DN), health care sectors and people who can't escape mass housing i. e. potential hotspots.
I wonder though, if Hashimoto is classed as autoimmune desease?

In calmer and less exciting news: my cake tastes alright but hasn't risen properly. I wonder why?

Nydj · 17/01/2021 12:02

Hello, goodness, whatever it was that you have had, @DoctorTwo and @NotanotherboxofFrogs, it sounds horrible and I hope that you both feel much better soon.
@MissConductUS, the anticipation in the days leading up to them leaving is horrible and almost worse than after they leave. I hope it goes smoothly and your DD is happy with her accommodation. Hugs to to xx.
I have had zoom yoga this morning and am now messing around and plan to do very little today.
