I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

It snowed today, a bit. It is now freezing so going to work tomorrow will be fun not

I have just bought a bottle of goat's milk for 10p from Sainsbury 's. No idea what I'm going to do with it.

Therainisback · 14/01/2021 20:24

& thank you all for the strikeout tips. I never knew how people did thatConfused

Silkiechickscat · 14/01/2021 20:30

We never got our heavy snow so I'm going to write a complaint to BBC weather.

kittlesticks · 14/01/2021 21:00

I'm so sorry I've lost contact with the thread. There was a case at DS's preschool so he's currently having to isolate at home which means everything has gone totally up in the proverbial air or mostly work is having to be done at strange times etc. Not easy.
I'm excited about the food shop which is being delivered tomorrow, I'm planning to make lamb casserole and dumplings this weekend for dinner one night.
DD is teething and currently lying next to me in bed - kicking about all over the place.
I sense I'm not going to be sleeping much tonight.

MissConductUS · 14/01/2021 21:03

It's good to see you back Kittlesticks. If DD is old enough, some infant ibuprofen or acetaminophen will do wonders for the teething. You can't use it all the time of course, but it will help her get to sleep.

@Champagneforeveryone your update about tile grout made me snort unattractively. That would so be me on Day 3 of self isolating.

I didn’t leave work until 10 to 6 so dashed home, fed DC and left for the supermarket at 7pm. Home with feet up now!

Squirrel26 · 14/01/2021 21:41

Those men in high vis really do get everywhere! Mind you, we probably notice them more because they are quite visable Grin

mathanxiety · 14/01/2021 21:42

Well, we were expecting rain today starting about 3, but it's just sort of chilly and damp. I need to do three loads of laundry and hoover the bathroom, kitchen, and sitting room. Yet here I sit...

This may be too exciting for the thread, but the landlord got in touch earlier to say that some men (possibly in high viz) from a wildlife relocation service will be setting traps around the building and in the attic. I haven't noticed any wildlife, needless to say.

Squirrel26 · 14/01/2021 21:42

I was so busy laughing at how hilarious I am that I forgot to check my Covid test. It is negative.

Sunbird24 · 14/01/2021 21:49

Am I the last one left in isolation or is anyone else still with me?

HelenaJustina · 14/01/2021 21:52

Congrats @Squirrel26 and commiserations @Sunbird24 ! I wear a high vis twice a day because like a pilchard I wrote it into a risk assessment

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/01/2021 22:20

Since DS decided to repeat the year, he is actually talking and smiling again. Which is good, I didn't realize how stressed I was.

Pour it down the sink of course. Goats milk smells horrible. (I know this is not a universal view. It mystifies me that not everyone agrees all the same.)

Another dull day here. I’m struggling to recall anything vaguely newsworthy. 🤔 DS2 finished up the eggs making an omelette for lunch and DH forgot to buy more on his way home from the office. Dull enough for you all?

Nomnomarrgh · 14/01/2021 22:48

Today I bought a loo roll holder with my birthday money. Dd was not impressed.

Champagneforeveryone · 14/01/2021 22:58

I'm still here

I've been contacted as a close contact so am in it for the long haul (released next Thursday) No test as not symptomatic. I had hoped it would be overturned by PHE (as it has been for other colleagues) but no such luck Hmm

Are you awaiting a test result?

EggyPegg · 14/01/2021 23:21

Welcome @Nomnomarrgh. Please tell me it was this one? I have told DH that we are having it when our new bathroom is complete.

Our phone engineer wore hi-vis today. He climbed the pole outside and then drilled a small hole into the side of our house so that he could anchor his ladder and fiddle with things up near the roof. I did warn him that bits of the house might fall off when he started drilling and I'm not completely convinced his ladder would have been as anchored as he thought it was. He did make it down in one piece, filled the hole he'd made and our broadband is working properly again. He was also very easy on the eye

Bad luck on your continued imprisonment @Champagneforeveryone and @Sunbird24. Inspired by @Frownette, I've started Desperate Housewives and am finding it very funny if you're looking for something to watch.

@FourTurnings. We had Bolognese here too. DH did the meal plan for this week. Told me what it was and I promptly forgot. DS1 took full advantage of this and asked this morning of he could have tomato pasta in his Thermos for school. I obliged and DH told me later on that it was Bolognese tonight. I mentioned this to DS1 when he got home from school and he grinned and said 'I know'. Scored himself a double pasta day.

In other news, I taught DS2 how to play chess yesterday. He beat me very convincingly today. I should know better than to play strategic games with him, he's amazing at them. I had planned on letting him win that one. He didn't give me the opportunity though.

Frownette · 14/01/2021 23:43

Eggy I'd feel responsible now if you didn't like it Grin

I live with a high vis, his coat made me jump the other day as I walked into the sitting room and it was there glaring away, and I whipped my head around looking for the police person.

Sunbird24 when did you send your test back? I started salt gargling today to help my tonsils (culprit of why I had to do a COVID test).

I heard from an old friend and have yet to open her message, she upset me a few years ago, so no argument as such just me saying I was upset then radio silence. I'll read it at the weekend. It won't be nasty as she's not like that but not sure what she wants to say.

Must go check bins, recycling tomorrow

Sunbird24 · 15/01/2021 00:05

My test hasn’t even arrived yet! 😳

Nomnomarrgh · 15/01/2021 01:47

Unfortunately not @EggyPegg I don’t think that would fit in my tiny bathroom.

Silkiechickscat · 15/01/2021 02:07

Had soup and bread for dinner and some digestive biscuits and tea. Put bird cover back on cushion.

Heard twice from estate agent and actually got some useful information.

Watching 90 day fiance on DiscoveryPlus. E-mailed the science teacher to check he meant the time of the y9 science lesson to be 5pm to 6pm on Friday and not 10am to 11am.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 15/01/2021 05:16

I showered both kittens last night as did flea/worm treatment the previous night.

Black and brown bins are out tonight for 6am pick up.

halfpasteleven · 15/01/2021 05:26

@EggyPegg that is a lovely toilet roll holder. I must get it, but not yet as DD is obsessed with toilet rolls at the moment- if she got her hands on that many in one go it would be carnage. She's 19 months and stubborn in that way that only a toddler can be stubborn. I sometimes admire it I have to say.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/01/2021 06:17

Good morning all, there are no hometests here. If you need to have one, you need to see a medical person. And if you only want one, you have to pay.

It is supposed to be raining, but not yet. And I need sth from the Baumarkt, but they are open for professionals only.

My coffee is ready Smile

HelenaJustina · 15/01/2021 06:36

Gin night tonight! Far too exciting I know, so I’ll go with I don’t have to be in work until 8am today, rather than 7.30am.

HelenaJustina · 15/01/2021 06:39

That above makes me sound a bit alcoholic dependent... DH and I have a ‘no school night drinking rule’ mostly because after a glass of wine I eat All The Food and then feel fat.
So when I’m having a tough week, I really do look forward to a g&t on Friday this week I’ve been thinking about it since Tuesday
