QuestionableDog looks very pleased with new boots!

Shingles sounds painful @iklboo, hope you’re better soon!

I have had an Amazon delivery of chocolate, and now I’ve got it I’m not in the mood for it 🤦‍♀️

Silkiechickscat · 13/01/2021 18:36

Hope the covid-isolation has been OK.

This is custard and I love it, you can also get a chocolate version for kids but prefer this - you pour it over apple pie, fruit crumble, sponge pudding, jam roly poly etc:
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/homemade-custard

Pudding can be used interchangeably with dessert or it can just mean things like sponge pudding. jam roly poly, treacle pudding, sticky toffee pudding - the heavy sponge based puddings. Can also but less often be savoury like steak and kidney pudding.

My day was anything but calm as told an issue with our sale and also housing market may be shut down - its due to buyers-buyer we thought they were pulling out at first but found out just doing a higher rate taxpayer tax avoidance scheme and putting everyone else's sales at risk for it and never mentioned it.

Good news is I got the bathroom incredibly clean today whilst explaining to DH what was happening. Then joined some equally stressed people on the property threads.

In the meantime I was e-mailing EA and solicitor loads whilst trying to remote educate DS 1 to 1 all day and now school are recording attendance each lesson and messages were coming in throughout to my laptop and DS will only do lesson with me being on my laptop and reading out. Still he leaned a lot about higher rate taxpayer tax avoidance schemes and property deals as well as economic development, the cold war and iconic bonding but think we missed French and drama.

Just having a hot chocolate, second one today.

QuestionableDog is beyond adorable.

Let's be honest @Silkiechickscat, higher rate tax avoidance knowledge and property are going to be inherently more useful than Drama. And isn't your DH French? So ample opportunity to practice that.

@MissConductUS, we have that powder + milk stuff too. It's called Angel Delight.

@Squirrel26
I remember that episode of The Gilmore Girls. DH and I have watched it start to finish several times. The stage of your life vs enjoyment thing I mentioned upthread stands though.

The first time I watched it, I related to Rory and thought Lorelei was so cool.
The second time I aspired to be as good a mum as Lorelei.
The third time I sent my friend a list of reasons evidencing that Amy Sherman-Palladino (the writer) hates children and pointing out that there is not one single healthy relationship portrayed in the show. Not one. They are all completely dysfunctional, and for all their talk of being strong independent women, the two main characters are spoiled brats.

I will always love Emily Gilmore and Mrs. Kim though.

/end rant.

QuestionableDog looks fantastic.

Silkiechickscat · 13/01/2021 19:01

Yes Eggy DH is French though the only French he uses is muttering swear words in French. DS is very good at French but don't know if he'll take it as he goes mute a lot and so can't do the speaking test. We have had lots of French lessons so far and they tend to repeat so it will be fine, I will have a look later. DS was very scathing about higher rate tax avoidance and taking money away from people who need it. But yes probably more use than drama which is about a drunk driver killing someone which I'm a bit wary of as one of his friends parents was killed in a hit and run and there was a hit and run at the school his best friend goes to by our old house where one of the kids was killed same age as DS and 9 other kids run over. Sad

EggyPegg · 13/01/2021 19:10

Drama sounds like a good one to miss then. Your DS sounds like he's well ahead in French anyway, and he has the support at home if need be.

mathanxiety · 13/01/2021 19:28

I've just blitzed the kitchen and am about to tackle the bathroom grime, on my 'day off'. Wish me luck.

QuestionableMouse · 13/01/2021 19:31

@MissConductUS

QuestionableDog is beyond adorable.
Thank you. He's spoilt rotten and knows it. 😂
EggyPegg · 13/01/2021 20:42

In keeping with the thread, I have just learned how to put my washing machine into a calibration cycle as it keeps freezing mid-cycle. However, I don't think this is going to solve the issue as from what I can see, it's a problem with the rotation as it's now frozen again.

Squirrel26 · 13/01/2021 20:52

I was a bit late to Gilmore Girls, and I think I missed the window in my life when I’d have LOVED it. I do like it though, it’s very comforting.

Just intercepted the dog who was casually heading off upstairs with a pair of cashmere bed socks in his mouth. DON’T THINK SO.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/01/2021 21:13

I made myself a hot water bottle and will head for bed in about 30 minutes. I will try and get up at 6 tomorrow, but sunrise is at 8:16 and it is soooooo dark and there is no cat to wake me.

Gliblet · 13/01/2021 21:36

I recorded five training videos today and now I can't talk in sentences any more, so I'm drinking tea and listening to the radio with DH, and waiting to see if the little vixen with the limp comes to the garden for food tonight.

Nydj · 13/01/2021 21:36

I was a mother by the time I first watched Gilmore Girls and loved Lorelei. Second time round, I had much more empathy with Emily. I wish there was more Lane and less Rory.

The shopping arrived earlier than it was supposed to so it is all put away now.

halfpasteleven · 13/01/2021 21:39

Cashmere bed socks - I didn't know they existed squirrel and now I may have to find out more!

Questionabledog is looking very smart in his new gear..

We got out for a walk today and it was lovely to have some fresh air after being stuck indoors for two rainy days in a row.

Frownette · 13/01/2021 21:43

Nydj this time of year is pretty bleak anyway. Are work not giving you enough, well, work?

I'm expecting to get my results through first thing tomorrow then if +ve will have to work out how many more days I need to isolate. If -ve I'm out the front door faster than a ferret.

I watched Hustlers tonight and quite enjoyed it, ate thai fish yellow curry with udon noodles.

soddingkitten · 13/01/2021 21:44

@MissConductUS

Welcome, *@KleineDracheKokosnuss* and thanks for sharing your baking, walking and culinary news.

Is custard another general term for a sweet after a meal, like pudding is?

Custard is dessert gravy, basically. I love it.
soddingkitten · 13/01/2021 21:51

I baked a lemon drizzle cake earlier. It took ages to cool down so DS did not get his promised slice before bed.

EggyPegg · 13/01/2021 21:56

Custard is dessert gravy, basically. I love it.

And that is precisely the problem with it. But I hate gravy too. They both just make everything else taste like custard/gravy.

Lemon drizzle cake on the other hand, yum! Lemon drizzle for breakfast?

the washing machine is rotating and washing properly. I am a fricking genius.

Nydj · 13/01/2021 22:13

@Frownette, my role is pretty reactive and usually January is busy but this year, things are very quiet. Looking at my bare garden while I —don’t—work and knowing that it’s January and a long way from summer is not a great combination. At least I don’t have to commute to —not-- work 😊

Nydj · 13/01/2021 22:13

Why is strike through so hit and miss for me?!

Frownette · 13/01/2021 22:16

Not sure, will try an experiment -here we go

Frownette · 13/01/2021 22:16

No, not sure what you're doing!

atz333 · 13/01/2021 22:23

You're all so lovely! Thank you so much for the positivity. Well my little girl ended up sleeping a good 5 hours afterwards which was amazing. She's also been great today; just chatty when awake, feeding and sleeping. I feel a lot better.
You're all absolutely right. Some days can be hard and others are better. I'm glad I've taken the step to get some help. Just that has given me a little peace of mind.
HV came today and was very helpful. She made me feel like I'm normal and not just losing my mind.

Sunbird24 · 13/01/2021 22:29

Well done @atz333!

I sent my college friend a message and it turns out her ex was abusive. I haven’t told her he’s on Tinder.

Frownette · 13/01/2021 22:30

That's good @atz333! So many people on here will reassure you you're not alone. It can be overwheming at times Flowers
