Nicola Sturgeon has said it would not be classed as essential travel and therefore illegal. Is it wrong that I am overly-invested in wondering how this would play out legally? He is still president until the following day, so, if he were to land, would the UK/Scottish government be able to stop him passing through security and heading down to one of his golf courses? Would the police pass him a fine?
I've had quite a shitty day (haven't we all!!) so I'm finding this all quite distracting and fascinating to think about.

Please say someone will be recording it? As I understand though don't heads of state have to be invited? They do have diplomatic immunity but they also have to ask permission from foreign governments to come in, they can't just rock up as and when. At least that's what I have been led to believe...

I'd love to be the air traffic controllers though and find out- they could just refuse to grant permission and then see if he flies about in circles overhead.

Sadly think he’d have to be given permission to land at least somewhere as they won’t have enough fuel to just fly straight back to the US. Wondering if they may be able to prevent him disembarking somehow (hide all the steps?) either long enough to refuel the plane or until he’s no longer President... Added advantage of containing the implosion/explosion within the aircraft and saving the airport staff a clean-up job!

Well, he’s been inciting rioting from before the election was called, so no change there. The U.K. and the US have an extradition agreement, I believe. hopes frantically that he comes and is arrested for crimes against humanity

I think Scotland should let him in, if only because his next most likely alternative is his resort/golf course in Ireland and we don't want him either.
