Nicola Sturgeon has said it would not be classed as essential travel and therefore illegal. Is it wrong that I am overly-invested in wondering how this would play out legally? He is still president until the following day, so, if he were to land, would the UK/Scottish government be able to stop him passing through security and heading down to one of his golf courses? Would the police pass him a fine?
I've had quite a shitty day (haven't we all!!) so I'm finding this all quite distracting and fascinating to think about.

@AngelicaElizaAndPeggy dear Lord, yes! I cannot comprehend the blind adoration some of the American electorate have shown and now they are now conducting themselves. He’s practically telling them to start a civil war, absolutely insane.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 05/01/2021 22:28

Grin Juan Direction!!! I'd gladly help to pay their covid fines if they could serenade him off the plane again!!

I’d say he should golf in his own country but seems they’d be keen to see the back of him

Looks like he’s skipping out for the inauguration ceremony for Joe Biden what an embarrassment

@JamieLeesCurtains

Who would give the pilot permission to land?

I'm fascinated too.

ATC don't get involved in Covid. If there's a plane approaching, and is saying they want to land, they don't start quizzing about who's on board and the purpose of their visit. Not their remit.

Once they're on the ground then it would be over to UK Border Force and Police Scotland.

Kendodd · 05/01/2021 22:36

Actually, is he British???
They might not be able to refuse him entry.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 05/01/2021 22:38

He could be British, I suppose? If his mum was from Lewis? Bloody hell- Trump has been British all this time!?

No, he's American. Obvs.

His mother was born in Scotland but naturalized as a US citizen in the 40s, before The Donald was born.

He'd still qualify to play football for the national side through his mother but no, he's not Scottish/British.

RaspberryCoulis · 05/01/2021 22:41

Oh and the US is unusual in that they don't allow dual citizenship, so if you naturalize you have to renounce all links and loyalty to your previous country, and swear allegiance to the US.

Given that his mother did that before he was born, The Donald was born in America, to an American mother and an American father. He's American.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 05/01/2021 22:42

@RaspberryCoulis thank heavens for that. Should I be nervous that he is planning to announce a new career in Scottish football though? 😬

For some reason that just made me laugh out loud Grin possibly hysterically.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 05/01/2021 22:45

This whole thread has made me laugh completely hysterically @jamieleescurtains. I'm only just recovering from Juan Direction.

This would be hilarious! They'd surely have to bring Only an Excuse back if Trump started playing for Scotland. Grin

Kendodd · 05/01/2021 22:47

@RaspberryCoulis
Well thank God you've put that terrifying thought to bed for me. :)

RaspberryCoulis · 05/01/2021 22:48

He's a tremendous soccer player. Like really great. First-rate. He's so tremendous at soccer that he's been asked personally to Make Scotland Great again. We're going to be so great we'll be bored of winning. Anything else is just fake news.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 05/01/2021 22:48

What position would he play? Who would he replace Confused?

Sunbird24 · 05/01/2021 22:49

Could always stick him in goal, cos obviously his big manly hands would be a huge advantage

RaspberryCoulis · 05/01/2021 22:50

All of them!

Why do you need another 11 players when you've got the Donald?

Kendodd · 05/01/2021 22:51

If he played for Scotland he'd be really terrific, the best, beautiful game, truly he's an incredible player. The other team, losers.

Tavannach · 05/01/2021 22:52

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 05/01/2021 22:52

Yep he scored all the goals. That's what everyone is saying. On this big beautiful plane. That's what he heard. And they're very good people...the football people. And the media, they say lots of terrible things but they're all losers. SAD!

OP posts:
Kendodd · 05/01/2021 22:53

Maybe that's why hes coming, to replace the entire Scotland football team, with himself.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 05/01/2021 22:54

Trump in goal, my word.

He would probs paint it gold and write TRUMP along the top 😄

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 05/01/2021 22:59

Assuming he wasn't refused permission to land (which could be interesting to see the fighter planes telling him to Get Tae Fuck), perhaps he could be taken to an immigration detention centre as a result of his illegal entry? Especially when accompanied by armed staff.

I really like the idea of him being an illegal immigrant like his mother was before she scored a rich husband

AGnu · 05/01/2021 23:00

Nah, he's not coming to Scotland - it's a decoy. He'll be on another plane heading to some private island with no extradition treaty.

I'd love it if he did come & they refuse to let him disembark. I can imagine him ignoring them & inflating the emergency slide thingy & calmly zooming down it before wandering casually to the helicopter he arranged to land next to the plane as if it were the most normal thing to do.

Sunbird24 · 05/01/2021 23:02

Would Melania travel with him? Or would she barricade herself in in NYC?
